I’ve always had a crush on my neighbor.I also knew better than to do anything about it. I was a shy teen, and he was a muscled, intimidating hunk of deliciousness. Then I went off to live my life, never telling him how I felt.Years later my mother asks me to move back home to help her out. I don’t expect to see me hot neighbor still living next door to her. The sight of him washing his car, … washing his car, shirtless, send me stumbling into some trash cans.
Then he smiles at me… and I’m doomed.
But my mother warns me to stay away. She says men like him only want one thing.
And you know what?
I hope she’s right.

Yikes. Books like this are one reason why I stopped reading “New Adult” romance. The characters were ridiculous. The premise was fine and the sexytimez were fine, but there were quite a few speeches toward mother and, I just… I was almost finished at 92% and I couldn’t anymore. So bad. Don’t bother. Lots of choices out there better than this one.
I usually love Penny’s books but this one disappointed me. If it wasn’t for sweet adoring Edward I wouldn’t have even bothered to finish it. He is the reason that I gave it three stars. I didn’t like any of the characters except him. It’s hard to like a book when you only like one character. Julia was a spineless coward. She spent the entire book hiding and sneaking around with Edward so she wouldn’t upset her man hating mother. Speaking of her mother, she was a man hating shrew because two men did her wrong and demanded that her daughter hate men too. Then there was Edwards brother Kevin he was a worthless douche. I love you Penny but not this story. Until next time y’all happy reading.

First off, this book was super hot! Sizzling.
Great read. Quick with a fast paced plot.
Loved Edward. He was so supportive and wasn’t afraid to stand up for what he wants. Always made sure Julia was put first. Julia was great too. Loving and strong even when she is put into the corner with difficult decisions. I totally dislike her mother, Jane. Who give ultimatums like that?!?

I thought he man, homegrown stud Gil was a little too slick and visitor photographer Jenna a little too easy in this one night stand turned murder mystery/surprise baby romance.
Jenna seemed like an independent, strong career woman out on assignment, but lost all of her self preservation brain cells when she spent the night with sexy Gil. A stranger that she connected with, Gil was confident and ultra smooth as he rocked her world as they do each other without protection after a brief “I’m clean, are you?” discussion. I know this is fiction and clearly an OTT romance but somehow I thought Jenna would be a bit savvier than that.
I did like Gil’s POV that made him seem more human an sincere when it came to Jenna, but my dislike rapidly appeared again after he was dismissive the next morning with Jenna and her attempts to prolong their time together. What a uncool move but totally in line with his smooth jerk persona. I really didn’t like that he treated her like any other one night stand (like he seemed to do often) and let her go so easily. She didn’t seem special at all.
The storyline kept my interest high with the surprise pregnancy (again, Jenna-why so surprised?) and the whole murder mystery thing.
Kudos to the author as the storyline turned into a nicely paced whodunnit with lots of graphic scenes with a smarter spunkier Jenna and a sweeter enlightened Gil.
