Loved how much Brenda wanted them to be together.
Lovely friends-to-lovers romance!
The big problem? Nick is 17 years older than his little sister and her best friend, Amanda. It’s not until she’s an adult that he realizes that his feelings for her have changed. Amanda has always had a crush on Nick, but never dreamed it would be mutual. Now, she’s 21 and he’s back in town, and the timing is just right.
This low-angst romance is refreshingly honest without all the miscommunication issues that usually drive friends-to-lovers romances. Nick is the very definition of a good man, and Amanda is his perfect complement. There are a few surprises along the way, but this story is very grounded in real-to-life situations and reactions. I also enjoyed getting to know both of their families.
Sweet and sexy quick read about Amanda and Nick. Amanda is 21 and has a crush on her bestie’s much older brother for as long as she can remember. She hasn’t seen him for a few years since he’d moved out of town for work, but they are both back under the same roof to celebrate his sister’s/her bestie’s graduation from college.
Nick is 38 and has just moved back to his home town after his construction company won a large bid to do several years of work for the city. He hasn’t seen Amanda since before she was 18, but they’ve always been friends and had a comfortable relationship and they easily fall back into that at the graduation party.
They sneak a kiss on the patio during the party and if they hadn’t been interrupted, would have shared much more. That had to wait, but there was no doubting that her crush had evolved into very real adult feelings for Nick and that it was not unrequited.
Nick and Amanda quickly start a passionate relationship and it becomes serious in a hurry.
Great, quick love story. I love the forbidden age gap between them, but also loved that they were so certain of their relationship. Extremely sexy scenes throughout the book and a very sweet ending to their story. A very strong debut for this author!
Standalone novella. No cliffhanger. HEA guaranteed!
Sweet, commanding, caring, romantic, adult, emotional, soul-baring; these are just a few of the words that come to mind when I reflect on this wonderful story. The book was written with a smooth precision that makes the reader just slip into the story and only realize that they are lost in the magical words when the story ends. The story was written with adults characters that have adult conversations and work out their issues with communion; what a fresh concept! This was such a beautiful story.
Amanda is a 21 year old woman who has recently been unable to continue with her college education as she can no longer afford it. She is trying to find work that will allow her to make enough money that she can pay her bill and save for her education in the future. She attends Brenda’s (her best friend) college graduation party and meets up with Brenda’s older brother Nick. She has not seen him in 3 years and finds that her childhood crush is still as attractive as he always was. Nick, a 38 year old male, has recently moved back home to take on a job that his construction company recently won a bid on. At his sisters party he sees Amanda and realizes that his lust for her is still present and strong. Events happen and an adult relationship develops. There is very little conflict in this story but the interactions between the characters and their ability to work out their issues is what makes this a wonderful story.
The story was like a dream, in that it was soft, smooth, flowed beautify and was amazingly sweet. It is a great debut novella from this author. There is no grammar or spelling errors, 11 chapters all from Amanda’s point of view (with the exception of the last one; from Nick’s POV). This book may be labeled under taboo because of the 17 year age difference but it does not read like a taboo book, it reads like a romantic story of two adults finding love where it was all along. There were many great lines but my favorite was: “But you’re the kind of beautiful that’s hard to forget…” I highly recommend this book, and I look forward to reading form this author in the future.
