Feisty, stubborn, and bored with life in Texas, Anne Best is about to get more than she bargained for.
The lovely widow heads off to the Big Apple for a job interview, expecting no more than a few days adventure in New York City, only to find herself with a new job working for the most infuriating man she’s ever met. Billionaire Steven Gherring is one of New York’s Most Eligible Bachelors, and … Most Eligible Bachelors, and he has every intention of staying that way. But Gram has other ideas. She’s on a not-so-secret campaign to find a wife for her grandson.
As fearless as she is clumsy, Anne tackles every challenge (including her new boss) enthusiastically, with two lone exceptions… public speaking and recognizing her own feelings. Passions rise along with hemlines as Gram joins forces with Anne, a veteran matchmaker, to find the perfect match for Steven.

Loved this story!!
So much fun to read! I really enjoyed reading this book. It was this author’s first, but I will definitely read more from her! I highly recommend this book!
Great retelling of Pride and Prejudice. Gherring is so Mr. Darcy. Do I wish it was a little hotter? Yes. But it was still good without the sex. Heck, it may be better cause I’m way better at a hot love scene than most author. I liked the characters and the fact that Steven was sexy was very nice.
I love all of Tamie’s real world stories. I loved Anne and the way she handled herself…even being realistic about wearing high heels…LOL. I quickly had to read the whole series!
Anne is hilarious at times and while Steven starts off being a bit of an arrogant jerk, his personality develops as the story progresses. I love, love, LOVE this book. It’s great. Looking forward to reading the rest of Tamie’s books in this series.
Enjoyed reading about empowered women. Look forward to reading the rest of the series.
An enjoyable romantic book with interesting characters which was fun to read.
I would recommend this author’s first book if you enjoy a light romantic humorous and captivating read.
I started laughing at Anne’s thought processes and descriptions on the first page of this book and continued laughing as she interacted with her new boss Mr. Gherring and her daughters. I loved her feistiness but also her innocence and desire to see the good in everyone.
Anne’s relationships with the different characters in the book were well …
Tamie Dearen is a new-to-me author. Her Best Match was penned in 2013 so it has been around a while. I’m conflicted on who to rate this one. On the one hand, the characters were engaging, especially Steven; Anne was relatable if often annoying. The premise of the book was intriguing and out of the ordinary. You don’t often have a 45-year-old widow …
Pretty predictable, but some clues were left to the end. It was fun!
Newly divorced, kids grown, Mom is suddenly back in the workforce looking for a job. She is offered a chance to interview for an exec assistant job in NY — and they will pay her expenses from her home in Texas. (a little bit of a stretch?) She tells of the guy who interviews her, clueless as to his identity as one of the richest men around. …
I absolutely loved this book. Would of given it a higher rating if possible. I loved the romance of it. It was steamy without them ever having sex. It was just perfect.
Cute story – although somewhat unrealistic. Interesting characters. I enjoyed it.
Fun
One of the best series I’ve read in a long time!
Wonderful story
Ok, so let go of reality. Billionaire corporate leaders do not hire small town Texan widows. Now, if you are willing to have fun with this improbable base, then you will get to have a very fun read. Charming people. Charming interactions. If you’ve never been to New York, don’t expect it to be this friendly … although when I went I did …
Highly recommend this book and author
As a woman who has moved, happily, past the age of 50, I really enjoyed this love story.
When I was young, I had this whackadoo idea that people got to a certain age of, oh say 40, and they became grandparent material, and nothing cool ever happened to them after that.
The idea that all the hormones involved with romantic relationships …
I loved it!
I loved the fact this book is about someone in her fourties. So many romance books are about 20 somethings! Anne is 45 and just starting a new job. For Steven Gherring. THE Steven Gherring!
This is a story that immediately immersed me in its warmth. A page-turner. I really liked Anne. Someone who I could easily be friends with. …
