When she is caught stealing from the mercantile in a small Texas town, eighteen-year-old orphan Josephine Bolton faces the prospect of a jail sentence, but she is saved by the intervention of a local rancher who mistakes her for a boy and convinces the sheriff that some hard, honest work would be better for “Joe” than being brought before a judge and jury.Logan West has even less patience for … patience for lying than he does for thieving, and when he discovers that he has unwittingly brought a beautiful young woman back to his ranch he puts Josephine over his knee, bares her bottom, and spanks her soundly for her deception.
Despite her best efforts to ignore her attraction to Logan, the stern punishment leaves Josephine longing for the gruff, handsome cowboy to take her in his arms and claim her properly, and when he asks her to marry him she agrees. But after their wedding, Josephine cannot help wondering whether Logan proposed to her merely to keep up appearances. When she decides to run away again, will her firm-handed husband come looking for his naughty wife and bring her home?

Josephine finds herself in a precarious situation when her only blood relative dies. She’s in disguise when she steals food in order to survive. She doesn’t get far before the stong and handsome Logan catches her and makes her work on his farm. What happens when the alpha cowboy realizes the smart-aleck teen isn’t a boy but a young lady? There will be spankings! Their relationship develops with humor, chemistry, discipline, mishaps, misunderstandings and help from Logan’s sister. (I would love to read Ella & Brody’s story.) This book is about 170 pages with likable characters, intimate encounters, insecurities on both sides and a HEA. The dialogue may not always ring true to the time period but is still an entertaining read for the genre.

Logan and his sister have taken in a young thief. The boy needs someone and to work off his debt, but when the bare lily white bottom comes into view at spanking time, Logan is stunned. His thief is a beautiful young woman on the run from cruel family. Josephine’s deal to marry to pay off her debt won’t work if she’s too afraid to open up to her stern yet warm husband. A historical spanking romance.
Josephine was left by her mother to be raised by her aunt, whom had married an awful man later in life. He was extremely cruel to the aunt and always telling Josephine, she was no kin of his. When the aunt passed, he did not allow time for grieving. It was straight home and back to work. He kept watching her closely and after a few days forced his way into her bedroom. He told her, she was eighteen that if she wanted to stay in his house it would be in his bed too. The next morning she took off as soon as he left the house for the day. She made it to the next town dressed as boy ending up at the General Store stealing two apples and some coins. To pay for her damages a local rancher, Logan West paid them up front then she was to work for him to pay the funds back. At first everyone thought she was a boy, then Logan discovered she was a woman. They started as two people that planned to never marry until, they met. Life soon had different plans for them then. They knew exactly how to set each other off. Life was never dull if they were near each other. Enjoy this wonderful dynamic story you will not be able to put down.

“Her Alpha Cowboy” is a western romance by Mary Wehr. It takes place in the late 19th century and has an interesting mix of interesting historical details, some modern language, intense domestic discipline and emotional situations.
Josephine is a young woman stuck in a bad situation. She’s got an unfavorable view of marriage based on her painful observations of her beloved aunt’s terrible marriage to a violent man. When circumstances leave her homeless and hungry, she runs afoul of the law. Logan, a local rancher who apprehends her, offers to take her in for a couple of months to work for him as a form of house arrest. A big problem with that is that Josephine is disguised as a boy at the time … and you can imagine the problems that leads to for everyone. It even leads to a temporary marriage of circumstance between the lead characters. Their relationship is tumultuous, sometimes dramatic and sometimes funny.
There are some very good secondary characters who round out this story. They include Logan’s sister, the workers on the ranch, the local sheriff, and the people who own the general store. I thought the book was entertaining. Its main flaw, to me, was that the steamy scenes just seemed way more awkward than hot. Of course, YMMV and all that, plus that’s not the most important part of the book and I thought it was a good read anyway.

A little love and discipline for Jo.
Logan did not expect for Jo to have some serious secrets but when he found out it did not stop him anyway in showing Jo who the boss was. I read this book sometime ago but to re-read it for a review was like visiting an old friend. The whole cast of characters were just awesome, and this domestic discipline jewel was such fun to read. It is not historically correct but it is entertaining and I am happy to recommend. I did receive a free copy of this book from Booksprout and voluntarily chose to review it.
