He couldn’t make me feel like this…It’s all a game.Being alone is terrifying, but their love is suffocating. The girl looking back isn’t real. She isn’t me.The walls are closing in.I’m quickly drowning in them. It’s too late. They want me… they think they do.But they don’t love me.They love her…
Just finished reading HER and omg I’m in love! I feel like I traveled back to reading the first book by Portia Moore she is super talented and her books show it! I don’t think I can wait until October for her next book! I need to know what happens! This book was a page turner I loved Ian as a character the most.
In Her we meet Megan and Kameron. Megan grew up in the system bouncing around from one foster parent to another. She never felt grounded in life. Not knowing who her parents were bothered her. She feels lost and disconnected.
Megan’s character defines herself by not having been raised by her parents. She considers herself damaged because she was raised by foster parents. I’m so exhausted by these excuses. How times are writers going to use the same backstory to create a damaged character? It’s so over used and unoriginal. Portia didn’t add anything to this storyline to enlighten me.
Megan’s character never met her birth parents. She’s tried to locate them, but was unsuccessful. She’s constantly talking about how she is damaged because she was raised by foster parents. Portia never delved into anything substantial to back up her claims regarding Megan’s claims of being broken. There was no mention of abuse. In fact, she got a scholarship to Purdue University. Not too shabby. I consider that a huge success. She was focused enough on school to get good grades and earn a full ride.
It’s been years since I read If I Break by Portia Moore. I remember enjoying all the books in that series. I’m left here wondering how I enjoyed those books when I’ve only just begun reading Her and can already tell I’m going to be skimming this one.
Where is the writing style and voice I enjoyed from before? Well at least this was a free download. I’m still disappointed considering I’ve read five other books by Portia Moore.
This was a convoluted storyline. I knew quite early on what was transpiring. It’s not too hard to figure out when you have chapters with two different characters.
BTW Her ends on a cliffhanger. Mine is the next installment. I will not be reading the next installment. This was one confusing and implausible.
I’m hooked..
I didn’t like it. For Me it was confusion and didn’t make sense why it is written the way it is. The story is short and chapter follow Megan and Kam and the untitled chapters follow a different couple named Ian & Alana. It jumps back and forth between the character’s throughout the chapters. The ending is where Ian and Megan meet & Ian says Megan isn’t Megan and she is really Alana. Megan says she was in foster care and don’t remember nothing about her life. I think it would have been a cool plot if written differently. Maybe pick who the main character’s would be and let it flow instead of jumping back and forth between 4 characters. IDM I think it’s a mess & coulda been better if written differently bc it’s 2 confusing. And too short
