While going about her daily business our Writer (who really is a witch but does not know it yet) she finds something interesting. As our writer works to solve the mystery that she now has you will enjoy a fun journey with her and her two new friends. Super cute mystery this is just the prequel, but it looks like it is going to be a fun series. I did receive a free copy of this book and voluntarily chose to review it.
What a fun start to a new series!
This is a short but fun read. The town of Wormwood with all its quirky, paranormal characters is well described and rather dysfunctional! Hazel is a witch that has inherited her mother’s apothecary shop and everything that goes with it.
A mystery from the past falls at her feet. What will she decide to do with it?I love her snarky familiar Hemlock but we don’t hear much from Hedge, yet.
Cute, fun, fast paced story. Some world building and character development by the author. A town with some paranormal aspects such as a coven of witches. Our heroine came back to her old home town after her mother passed away and finds part of her inheritance is to run her mother’s pharmaceutical shoppe. As she is cleaning and restocking the shelves she discovers a mystery she must solve. No I can’t say more or I will be giving too much away. Just going to say I enjoyed this quick read.
I received a free copy of this book and submit my opinion for your review.
The author writes prequels to each of her new series, and this one introduces a series about a young woman who returns to a rather paranormally centered town to take over her mother’s apothecary shop. This prequel is the best that she has written.
The characters are great (with some wonderful names) and the story is interesting, humorous and very well written. I especially liked the interactions with her adopted cat, especially as it can talk!
I am really looking forward to the rest of the series which shows great promise. I love all of the author’s series, but this one could be the one of the best yet.
Oh, and as an added bonus all the proceeds from this book are being donated to a no kill cat rescue sanctuary, so everyone wins!
Oh my, that was a fun and entertaining read! I absolutely love Hazel’s familiar, Hemlock! I look forward to many more books in this series!
Hemlock and Hedge is the prequel to a promising new book series. A short fast read full of interesting characters and an intriguing setting. Looking forward to more from this series.
A cute story, a town of witches and a talking cat…OH MY!!! A Mystery!
A short fun book to read. In a spooky town with witches and a talking cat there’s a mystery to be solved. Very entertaining.
I loved it. Would like to read more . Get out there and read this book. Will tickle your funny bone.especially the last paragraph.
Hazel Salem finds herself in her hometown of Wormwood after the death of her mother – who had but one request: that Hazel keep the family Apothecary in business.
Sorting through her stock of herbs one day, a mystery literally falls to her feet – a card with a note asserting that HE IS THE FATHER.
Whether a reference to her own sire, or the father of someone else, is not immediately clear. As she says, single mothers are quite common in Wormwood – and the town supports the mothers and children.
Solving the mystery leads her into her own past, and that of a few former classmates. Not knowing her own sire, perhaps avoiding romance with a local is indeed in her best romantic interests in the future.
A kitty loving, tail flicking adventure !
