Wouldn’t you hate to live in a place called Hellfire? Its a small community that is very friendly and everybody are friends. Beckett and Kinsey grew up together but went their separate ways after high school. Beckett still lives in Hellfire but Kinsey moved to Dallas. They meet again when Kinsey is running from an abusive ex-boyfriend. There’s lots of action and romance. I enjoyed reading this book. It was very good.
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the steamy novella Hellfire, Texas: Hellfire Series book 1 by Elle James and this review was given freely.
A fast paced, action packed romantic suspense set at the Coyote Creek Ranch outside of Hellfire, Texas spanning a couple days, featuring multiple fires, and offering a good introduction to the close knit Grayson siblings. When former pediatric nurse Kinsey Phillips’s car breaks down close to her hometown during her flight from her abusive boyfriend, she is rescued by her childhood crush, the oldest Grayson sibling, volunteer firefighter, rancher and part time architect Becket Grayson.
Contains some violence but ends happily.
I have had this one in my TBR list for a long time and I finally got around to reading it. A wonderful story. I enjoyed this book. I am a long time fan of Elle James. I feel this one is well written and the characters were awesome. I encourage you to get this book I think you will enjoy it. This one is worth your time and effort. Give it a chance.
This one was a bit disturbing, but spine tingler. I wish it had been a bit more involved in the plot.
I didn’t like the heroine. I’ve never read about victims of domestic abuse who were so open and up-front about it until way after the fact, when they’ve had counseling and have come to terms with it. This was a case of too much telling and not enough showing. She could’ve been been urgently trying to get away or leave without spilling her guts immediately. Of course the hero would’ve suspected abuse but the details would’ve remained unconfirmed until he develops a rapport with the heroine. It just didn’t ring true.
Coming Home
Maisey finally got away from Dillon and ends up with her car burning in the side of the road. Beckett had just finished his volunteer firefighter training that day and was on his way back to the ranch when found her. They had grown up together. Now he can help.
Kinsey Phillips, trapped in an abusive relationship with a dangerous pro football star, finally finds a way to escape. With no personal belongings, no money, and only the knowledge that she must stay hidden to live, she heads for her childhood home in Hellfire. When her car burns up on the way, Becket Grayson, rancher and volunteer firefighter, comes to her rescue.
I enjoyed meeting the Grayson family, and the small town community feel to this story. There was plenty of action and suspense. I did have a hard time with a woman who had barely escaped with her life from one man falling immediately in love with another.
Not all was good in Texas as Kinsey Phillips literally ran for her life. No money, no ID, no phone but she was free. No more beatings, abuse and captivity for her. How could she have let her life spiral out of control and let Dillion beat the life out of her. He was a professional football player, big, bully personality and had taken all means of escape away from her. While he was drunk and sleeping, this was her chance and she took it. Running to her former home about 20 miles away, she is rescued and her life took a turn. It wasn’t without consequences but she was free (or was she). This is a great book!
Loved the story. You see love right before your eyes. Kinsey and Beckett were made for each other. The book is a short story but it could go on forever. I read other books by this author and she is one of my favorites.
I’ve read a couple of books concerning Hellfire, Texas and I really like the characters. I really like this author. Her characters are strong and have depth. So many romance novels, the women are weak and mousy so I really like it when I find an author who isn’t afraid to make her women and her men strong and dependable. The women may need some help but they’re not melting into a puddle at the first sign of trouble. The men are kind and gentle without being wussy.
A great read. Can;t wait to read more about Hellfire, TX and its characters. Would definitely recommend this book.
This is a very quick read, but very good too. Thought it was a little too quick for Kinsey to get physically romantic after just getting beaten by her ex boyfriend. But again, it was a quick read
Wasn’t one of my favorites….it’s ok.
Easy read
enjoyed it very much
I enjoy everything by this author. But this was very realistic. Kinsey Phillips boyfriend, who is a professional football player, is very jealous and abusive. He has her trapped in a life that is a nightmare. She decides she is done and leaves him while he is passed out. She then goes back home to Hellfire, Texas and runs into her old neighbor/ crush when her POS car breaks down. The story is very realistic regarding the fear and helplessness of getting out of an abusive relationship. Lots of on the edge of your seat moments and some very steamy scenes. An amazing read!
Elle James is one of my favorite writers
always great reads quick page turners
can’t put down reads. interesting characters
and always great story lines
Another good read by Ms James!
Word of warning, even though this is a relatively short read, give yourself enough time to read!!! I started this too late in the evening and by 1:30 a.m. my brain couldn’t comprehend the words that managed to get past the blurry eyes. This was a wonderful start to a series. I enjoyed the second chance romance of Becket and Kinsey. I look forward to reading the rest of the clan in future stories.
This book is written in the dual POV format. I love it as I can understand the character’s actions so much better.
