This was a quick and fast paced read at less than one-hundred and fifty pages with a lot of adventures, romance and love. When a runaway bride gets picked up on the road by a man driving a vintage Cadillac, the fun begins. Vivi’s smart to run when we learn about who/what her fiance is and even though her parents were surprised that she ran, I don’t know how they could be.
Shade seems too good to be true as he takes her under his wing after first wanting to drop her off to return home. I loved how they clicked and learned how to communicate even though their backgrounds are so different. Their trips to mainstream American shops were hilarious. There’s a nice flow to the story and the ending has closure thanks to the epilogue that takes seven years later with a better than expected happily ever after. This is the only book in the series I’ve read and it was a stand alone. I’d like to return to Diamond Lakes, Texas to read Shade’s siblings stories, hint, hint, as well as the first two books in the series.
Ms. D’Alba is a new to me author but I will be looking for more of her books to add to my always growing to be read pile!
OMGosh! I loved this book from beginning to end. Vivi and Shade were such wonderful characters. Thank you Cynthia D’Alba.
Oh, the places a Caddy can take you!
I couldn’t believe I read it as quick as I did. Loved the banter between the characters. You could seen the attraction build on the page. Not every character lends itself to this type of develop but in large the writer has to have the ability to provide a lively and realistic character and setting. Being from Arkansas, I loved seeing on of our small towns as a scene. Love Aunt Gladys. Cynthia D’Alba
What a delightful story. It was full of charm, humor and chivalry. It’s a runaway bride story. Cynthia revised this from the original kindle worlds story.
Shade Gruber, former Chicago cop, is driving his grandmother’s restored vintage cadillac home to Diamond Lakes Texas. He’s got a new job and his family waiting for him there. He no more than makes it a few miles down the road than he spies a woman in full bridal regalia walking down the side of the highway in high healed white shoes. Like any gentleman would do he stops to pick her up. When she won’t give him her name and doesn’t have a destination in mind he figures he’ll give her a lift until tonight when he stops. He knows who she is, socialite Victoria Vaught. She left her fiance Guido Folio at the church when she got trapped into marrying him. Between her parents pushing her and Guido’s bodyguards she couldn’t cry off. This begins a wonderful road trip from Chicago to Texas with two people from very different worlds. I loved watching how they made it work.
I voluntarily read and reviewed and advanced readers copy of this book. All thoughts and opinions are my own.
If you are looking for a quick fun read, look no further. Shade Gruber is getting out of town in his grandmother’s cadillac. Roof and windows down. Nothing but the breeze and rolling down the highway. Victoria Vaught is a runaway bride. Car broke down and she is walking down the highway in her wedding dress. From the moment these two meet, the banter between them is hilarious. Underneath all that, there is sizzle. Shade is trying to be honorable and Vivi just wants to go to Texas with him. I will never look at a Waffle House or Walmart the same way ever again.
This is a fun, contemporary romance. The story is a bit unlikely at times, but it’s pure entertainment from page one and I didn’t want to put it down until these two got their HEA. I love Shade Gruber and meeting his family. I’d like to read more about that gang. I look forward to picking up more books by Cynthia D’Alba!
Four and a half stars.
Cadillac Cowboy by Cynthia D’Alba is part of the Hell Yeah! Universe collection, and is a sweet read with a little bit of punch! Shade Gruber is a newly minted Texas police officer driving to his new home in Big Branch while leaving the streets of Chicago behind. He feels duty bound to rescue a bedraggled runaway bride stranded on the side of the road. He recognizes her as Victoria Vaught, a high society princess of sorts, and SO not his speed.
He’s determined to return her to her world while she’s equally if not more determined to escape its confines and to breathe and think and live for herself for even a short time. Cynthia D’Alba’s story is a highly entertaining, page-turning read, and her characters and dialogue shine. Looking forward to more of her writing!
Absolutely loved this book. From the opening lines the story of flowed like a delightful film. The characters will intrigue and delight from their bantering flirtation to their steamy heated scenes. Great plot and story development, everyone loves a runaway bride.
Loved the book. It was filled with humor, interesting and intelligent characters, romance , a some suspense and a very entertaining story.
Shade is a cop that is moving from Chicago to Texas, to be close to his recently widowed Mom and to drive his grandmother’s recently restored Cadillac, Daisy.
Upon leaving Chicago he comes across a runaway bride, walking down the road.He immediately recognizes her as the socialite who is suppose to be marrying a “shady” man. And that my friends, is when the fun begins.
So get ready for a ride you will likely remember for a while. I sure will.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
An entertaining and enjoyable romance, this novel is somewhat suspenseful as Victoria Vaught flees from her own wedding upon discovering an unsavory truth about her fiancé. Jumping into his Jag, she takes off, still dressed in her wedding gown and veil, only to break down a short while later on a country road. Taking the long route to his new destination, Officer Shade Gruber is enjoying the ride when he comes upon an abandoned Jag and then a bride limping down the road. Descriptive passages in this novel had me laughing out loud as Shade and Vivi embark on an adventure, especially as Shade immediately connects the dots to the missing socialite. Although a fairly lighthearted novel, there is a good plot and all the ends come together as the story gathers momentum. I received a copy of this book as a gift and this is my honest and voluntary review.
ARC copy for honest review with no compensation.
Can’t wait for the next book in this series! ! !
Shade (a cop) from Chicago, who decides to move back home to Big Branch, Texas is driving his grandmother’s restored Cadillac convertible and taking his time to enjoy the country along the way. He ends up on a country road and comes upon a runaway bride, Vivi Vaught (a socialite from Chicago) in a broken down Jag. He decided to help her to the next town but she tells him she wants to see Texas….so the long drive begins. He recognizes her but she doesn’t know that he know who she is. As the trip begins you see how their relationship grows and changes along the way and how that will change their lives.
Lots of laughter, romance, suspense and hot sexy times come along on this long drive across the country but will love also go along for the ride???
A runaway bride, a hunky former Chicago cop, and a trip to Texas. Oh my this book is terrific! Shade picks Vivi up on the side of the road wedding dress and all! Cynthia D’Alba does it again!
Oh what fun this story is from start to finish with lots going on with surprise after surprise keeping you guessing to the outcome as you laugh your way through each bump they have to overcome. Driving down the road in an antique convertible Cadillac minding his own business Shade passes a broken down car. Just a few more minutes he comes across a lady in a WHAT….is that a wedding dress? Thinking she needs to get to her wedding and always one to help he stops and ask her if she needs help. Her sassy little mouth might be sexy but it seems to get her in trouble as he baits her with her smart mouth answers. She climbs in the back and as her clothes start flying his eyebrows start rising and he just can’t help his self he baits her again.
This is a wonderful addition to the Hell Yeah series with an author who keeps you hanging on as you chuckle your way through this book. It was a story I had to read at one setting Vivi is on the run to outrun the man she never wanted to marry to begin with. You might ask why not just says No and end the engagement it isn’t always so cut and try to find that answer and so much more you will have to read this outstanding story.
Shade is about to get his hands full with a sassy lady that has no trouble dishing back what he dishes out. Shade feels he is way out of this beauties league with him being just a low paid cop and her being from a powerful family. At first he thinks she is just a spoiled little rich girl. It doesn’t take him long to find there is a whole lot more underneath that beautiful face and body. She is sexy, smart and he is hook on that sassy little attitude that has him wishing for so much more.
Vivi has tried to tell everyone she doesn’t want to marry when she sees an out she makes a run for it. Just her luck the car breaks down on her getaway, more luck she is picked up by a smart mouth hunk of a man that thinks he is a comedian. We will see just who has the last laugh as she outsmarts this man at every turn.
I have always been a big fan of this author she knows how to pull her reader in holding your attention why giving you a highly entertaining read that keeps you invested as she pulls on your heart strings. You are going to love the characters both are strong willed and butt heads again and again. I adored Shades family who keep the humor rolling. His grandmother is something else. It will not be long before you fall in love with these characters as I have. This is a even pace story that moves fast at times with surprising outcomes you won’t see coming. This was a hot read from a hot author that knows how to burn up the pages as she sets hearts on fire. The author gives you a little mystery with lots of humor in a delightful romance turning the tables again and again. I loved how this romance builds as they take a ride that will change both of their lives. If you haven’t read any of this authors work now would be a great time to give one of her books a try. I can hardly wait to see how this series will continue.
