Hell on Wheels is book four in the Kings of Mayhem MC series. While it is a standalone, it is recommended you read the first three books in the series to get a feel for the MC and the family.

After reading what happened to the eldest Calley boy, I needed to know how he was doing. Chance was a Navy SEAL and a member of the Kings of Mayhem MC. His grandfather founded the club, his father was the president until his death, and his uncle was now the ruling Prez. Wounded after his last mission, it took him months to get anywhere close to normal. Everyone wants him to get back to the easy guy he was before. Before the mission from hell. Before the mission that hurt his heart and killed the rest of his unit. Before the mission that left him a broken man. No amount of alcohol or women seemed to be able to drag him back. And then he hears the voice of an angel…
Cassidy is struggling and she’s on the run. Her sweet voice and guitar skills keep her eating, but staying in one place too long will only get her killed. When Chance’s protective instincts kick in, Cassidy quickly realizes that there’s no safer place for her to be than with him. The devastatingly handsome stranger becomes her confidant, her friend, and eventually her lover. They create a bubble of love and nothing can penetrate it… except the evil that Cassidy was running from in the first place.
I really enjoyed this book. Learning about Chance’s heart was amazing. He was such a wonderful and endearing hero. I liked what the author did with Cassidy’s part of the story and the horrifying way it played out. The suspenseful element was well placed and the villain was truly villainous. Once again, Penny Dee gave me an awesome story and I can’t wait for some of the other characters to get their happy endings. Give me Bull!
I truly enjoy the MC romance genre, and here it seems that Ms Dee has turned the genre on it’s head with a thoughtful, sensitive, Alpha biker and a strong female love interest. Both are broken and betrayed by past circumstances, yet neither Chance or Cassidy give up completely or ever come across as truly lost. I loved the way the club members and friends rally around both Chance and Cassidy throughout. And the grandmother?!? What a scene stealer!
Hells On Wheels
From Caleb’s book we learn Chance is wounded in battle, lost all his brothers in arms. But who did he end up meeting? Cassidy, his love interest. With Chance coming to her rescue they’ve become friends and eventually more. With Cassidy’s traumatic past it’ll take lots of love, and to stand up and fight for their love, I love Chance and Cassidy’s love story you can tell they’re perfect for one another
4.5 Stars
I really enjoyed reading this entire series so far. This is book 4 in the Kings of Mayhem series and it features Chance and Cassidy. He carries some deep scars, on the inside and the outside, from his last appointment as a Navy SEAL. She brings light into his darkness. Their love is patient, deep and real. If only she could stop running from her horribly devastating and abusive past.
Since I started this series I always wondered about Chance and now I have my answers. This is such a fantastic story line and the characters are totally amazing. I can’t wait for the next one!
Slowly these books are growing on me. Not totally. But Enough to find it interesting enough to finish them.
Chance & Cassidy story was ok. Out there but but ok. The swamp people with bad teeth was eye opening. the whole Barrett thing was good. Up until we got to the end. What he wanted to do. It felt like it was added for extra drama.
I love grandma Sybil!!! She was bad ass!
Overall this was a ok read. The next book in this series was the book I requested from Netgalley. I just wanted to catch up before I started Off Limits.
This was book 4 in the “Kings of Mayhem” series. Chance Calley is a former Navy Seal who was injured physically and emotionally. Cassidy has spent year moving from town to town along the way she met like her friend Missy who I did not like it her brother. Cassidy is a singer and when the club hires her she is a big hit with the bikers. When they first met Cassidy thought that all bikers were bad but as she gets to know Chance she realizes how wrong she was. When Missy wants to stay she gets a job only to come to find out that her friend betrayed her and put her out Chance comes to her rescue. When she tells Chance what she is running from and why it breaks your heart she has been abused by her adopted brother for years. I loved this book both she and Chance have been through a lot. Chances father and him do some bad things I knew from reading book 1 of this series that there father was an asswhole to both him and Cade. When the step brother comes after her Chance will do anything to protect her. This was a good read my favorite so far in this series. This book was well written with no errors in grammar or spelling. I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I have absolutely fallen in love with this series. I have really tried to move away from reading series books because normally by the 3rd book they aren’t any good any more. This series, however? I’d almost have to say this one was my favorite so far. You don’t have to read them in order, really. So, if I were starting the series over again, I’d start with this one.
I’m so happy we finally got the last brother, Chance. I know I’m not the only one who has been waiting on reading his story since he was first mentioned in the first book. We heard many things about his rough past growing up and the hate towards his father but now we finally got to see the truth of what happened and it’s no surprise why he left for the military as soon as he could. Chance has gone through so much in his life it could tear any man down. He struggles in the darkness for a while and never expected a little blonde woman to turn his life upside down, for the better. Cassidy comes from her own world of troubles but they are able to find what they didn’t even know they were looking for in each other. Cassidy and Chance gave each other the fresh breathe of air they needed to turn their lives around. These two are such a great and powerful couple and I’m so happy they were able to find their happy ending in each other. Another great book with another great brother in such a great MC series that everyone needs to read! Thanks Penny! Your writing is beautiful.

I truly enjoy my MC romances, and here comes Ms Dee with Chance, a thoughtful, sensitive, Alpha biker and Cassidy, a strong female love interest. Both are broken and betrayed by their pasts, yet neither Chance or Cassidy ever come across as truly lost to the darkness. I loved the way the club members and friends are always around both Chance and Cassidy. Found and true family for the win. And the grandmother?!? YESS! An advance copy was provided to me and I volunteered to leave an unbiased review.
***4 Stars***
This was a great read. It was intense and suspenseful, and at times dark (the issues that both Chance and Cassidy face, NOT their relationship) but it was also sweet, swoonworthy and smexy and kept me turning the pages til the very end.
Cassidy is pretty damn amazing. She’s lived through hell, and those demons still haunt her, but she doesn’t allow herself to wallow in it. Oh, it still messes with her head, but she’s pulled her shit kickers on and has learned to live. Chance is all kinds of sweet, protective alpha AF male, he also has his demons and they mess with his head, but despite it all, his heart is still golden.
The journey to their HEA was all kinds of slow burn goodness. The attraction was instant, the chemistry hot and I just really liked how they kept colliding. They both have their own broken pieces, and I enjoyed how they helped each other start to help ease those edges and heal the bruises on their souls. There are a few bumps in their road, but the angsty/OTT stuff between them was on the low end ~ which I was something I really liked considering all the crazy going on around them ~ and I loved how everything worked out for them in the end.
This was a great addition to the series. It had a great balance of drama, heart and humor and I loved hanging out with the rest of the King’s and their Queens. Grandma Sybil was all kinds of awesomesauce, but the one who intrigues me the most is Bull. It’s probably because of his eyes, but I seriously NEED to know more about him. There are quite a few triggers in this one, but they were handled well and were necessary to the growth of the characters.

Hell on Wheels is the 4th in the series, but can be read alone. This is the first one I read, and I had no trouble following the story. I do plan to get the first 3 and read them and then the rest of the series as it comes out. This is the story of Chance and Cassie. Chance is back home after an explosion hurt him and killed most of his Navy Seal team members. He also is still dealing with abuse he endured as a child. Chance meets Cassie when he chases a guy who tries to steal her tips from singing on the street. Chance hires her to sing at the MC club he is in. They are both attracted to each other, but Chance doesn’t feel he has anything to offer her, so he vows to himself to remain friends. Chance runs into her again, and helps her out. Soon he knows she is in danger, and he vows to keep her safe. Will they open up to each other? Will the sparks and chemistry you can feel they have wear them down? Can they help heal each other? They both have endured abuse from the hands of those that should not hurt you in any way. You need to pick this up to see how they heal and help each other through some very trying times. Chance is a true hero and is willing to put himself in danger to keep Cassie safe. I really enjoyed this MC genre, and am looking forward to catching up on this series and continuing to read it. I loved Grandma Sybil!
I love this book I think it one of my fav of the series ..I love Chance and Cassidy so much both are fight demon of their own but you can feel their chemistry it’s hot and it amazing …. will they be able to make it work or will she run again …hurry and get this book you won’t regret it .
I absolutely loved this story and it’s characters so much. Chance is someone that pushes everyone away because he doesn’t feel like he is a good person. Cassidy is running from a past that is simply horrendous, but her and Chance bring out the best in each other. I love the Kings of Mayhem MC and all the characters. I highly recommend reading this series in order. What an amazing book and author.
Chance won’t let himself live or love as he believes his time as a SEAL turned him into a monster. He spends his time doing what he can for his club, but other than that he just lives day to day, something that worries his brothers (blood and club) to no end. That all changes when he sees street performer Cassidy and her singing blows him away. When he happens upon her again, he ends up coming to her aid and from there their story just grows. Will Chance finally feel himself worthy of life again? Will he even gets the chance to try when he finds out the reason Cassidy is in town in the first place?
This was a really good story with plenty of drama, a bit of action and of course the naughty bits that we love. I really enjoyed it and give Hell on Wheels 5 stars.
How is it that every book gets better? I absolutely loved Chance and Cassidy. They’re two broken souls that find solace in each other. I loved their push and pull and the undeniable chemistry they shared was undeniable. They were explosive and love that they were able to get through everything together.
This is the 4th novel in this phenomenal series and is Chance and Cassidy’s story. Chance was a navy seal who has returned as a man who is physically and mentally broken. Cassidy is a busker with her own demons, and these two are drawn to each other. This is a wonderful story which is dark, and filled with betrayal, action and love. I was totally captivated throughout this addictive page turner, and recommend for all, just be aware to the triggers, and hat’s off to this talented author in the way in which she wrote about such a sensitive topic.
Really good MC story! My first by this author but definitely won’t be my last. Loved the characters and watching their relationship grow. Recommend for anyone a fan of MC!
Holy Shite bat man this series keeps getting better with each story, Chance and Cassidy’s story, There story about healing them selfs as well as each other, Chance’s come home to recovery after been hurt oversea’s in military and Cassidy is running from her past, They both have an instant connection which makes there chemistry off the charts, The twist and turns, suspense plus the action along the way will have you flipping to next page see what happens, so can these to heal each scars get the HEA they both deserve, I definitely recommend reading this story and previous The Kings of Mayhem to find out about all the other couples plus the rest of the family, You will defo love Grandma Sybil she just tells like it is to straight point. Loved it Penny
What an amazing book. I was lucky enough to get my hands on this awesome book. So beautifully written and the storyline was heartwarming, intense and steamy. I devoured this book as soon as I got it. Can’t wait to discover more books by Penny.
I’ve loved reading the Kings of Mayhem MC series. This was Chance and Cassidy’s story. It was a fast paced book that was hard to put down. This pair had some hot AF scenes. What do you get when you mix a broken sexy biker and a beautiful girl whose running from her twisted past. In the end they found someone who not only understood their pain, but loved all of them. Cassidy put an explosive end to her twisted past that held her captive and kept her on the run. This pair got blissful happiness, their soulmate and a heavenly HEA. Hell on Wheels deserves 5+ stars and is a must read.
