Protector. Boogeyman. Hellhound. Meshaq has been called it all. As alpha of the hellhounds, his goddess has tasked him with protecting the secrets of the supernatural world. He’s the police of other creatures and the enforcer of the goddess’s rules. If his duty leaves him lonely and longing for a mate and a larger pack, well, the goddess knows the secrets of his heart and she will grant them if … if it is her will.
Drew Metcalf is a man on the run. When he finds himself in a biker bar surrounded by leather wearing giants, he thinks he’s a goner. But there’s something different about the man slinging drinks. He makes Drew feel safe, something he hasn’t felt in a long time.
When Drew and Shaq’s worlds collide, a different kind of magic happens. Shaq doesn’t understand why he’s so drawn to the human whose life is shrouded in mystery and danger. What Shaq does know is that Drew needs his protection. Magical forces are at work, beginning a battle that will require all of Shaq’s skill as the goddess’s champion. With a terrifying threat looming, Shaq and Drew are in danger of losing more than their hearts.

I have always loved Meshaq in Macy Blake’s Chosen Ones books. He has such a tough exterior but is very caring and protective of those he loves. He finds his perfect mate in Drew. This is a fated-mates story. Watching Mesaq go about proving to Drew that he will be a good mate is awesome. As with all of her other books, Macy Blake does a wonderful job of world building. I highly recommend this book along with the other books in the Chosen One universe.
*WARNING* contains explicit m/m sexual situations
Meshaq is alpha of the hellhounds and reports directly to the Goddess of fire. Shaq and his pack are loyal to their Goddess and are ever hopeful thing will change for the better.
Drew is on the run. Drew has some crazy man after him for no reason and he is petrified. No gas and a lot of people, maybe this bar will let Drew rest for just a few minutes.
I really like the idea of a hellhound being one the good guys! I so enjoyed this book. I like that the humans aren’t completely oblivious. I am so stinkin’ happy at what happened Walt. This book does have a happy ending, but the story leaves enough open question that I am looking forward to reading the next book in this series.
I love paranormal stories so this author has quickly become one of my favorites. I love this entire universe she’s created. All the interconnecting books and characters is my favorite thing ever.
This story follows Meshaq, the alpha of the hellhounds, and David. While Shaq is at his bar, David comes in, running from something. I really liked both Shaq and David. I loved how David had Shaq wrapped around his finger. I also loved the supporting characters. I’d really like to see books from them too.
This one didn’t capture my attention quite as much as the other books in this universe. However, this was a fun and cute read that I definitely recommend!
Hell Onn Earth is my first book of Macy Blake and I was blown away. The Hellhound Champions series is so unique in its take on the shifter, paranormal world. The world building is just so interesting. The suspense will have me craving for more without the frustration.
Wow, what a great addition to the universe of The Chosen One! I loved Meshaq in the other books, and living in his world for a book was fantastic. Drew makes a wonderful alpha-mate, and reminds me a bit of Sam, who I adored in Sweet Nothings. I’m really liking this parallel approach to the overarching storyline in The Chosen One, and look forward to the next book in both series!
(Please note that if you haven’t already read books 1-3 in The Chosen One series before reading this, you’re not going to get as much out of it. I highly recommend that you read those books first, as this new series is an interconnected spin-off rather than a stand-alone.)

Amazing series highly recommended!
With a full array of shifters and mythical creatures like hellhounds, wolves, bears, foxes, fauns, dryads, etc., and an array of demons and darkside creatures that often had me looking up the terms, I thoroughly enjoyed this book and fell in love with the ensemble of characters. It was my first shifter book and though I’m not sure I’ll rush out to read other authors’ shifter works, I won’t actively avoid them either. I will also be looking at Macy Blake’s backlist and waiting for further installments in this series. *I received an advance reader copy of this title in exchange for an honest review*
I absolutely loved these MCs so much!
In The Chosen One series, Meshaq was introduced as the Alpha of the Hellhounds, fierce and formidable. I was thrilled when the author revealed that she was going to give the hellhounds their own spinoff series, and Meshaq his own romance. This book gives Shaq humanity that he previously only truly showed in his interactions with Henry. HIs relationship with his pack, and especially with Drew, make it obvious just how wonderful Meshaq is. Drew, who shows up after escaping a scary situation, is exactly what Shaq and his pack need – even more than they realize.
I love the twists and turns in this book, I adore the brave and funny characters, and I am amazed at all the tendrils of the various stories that are being woven together into a larger picture of good versus a growing evil. The author has promised multiple future books focusing on more of the magical creatures in this fascinating world. I am so excited to read them all! While I was pulled into this world in the first few pages of All or Nothing, The Chosen One book one, I have been happy with each new book. Meshaq and Drew are an excellent addition to the characters greatly deserving of an HEA. I recommend all of these wonderful books and look forward to many more.
After witnessing something crazy scary Drew Metcalf runs. Ending up at Hair of the Dog he meets a gigantic man who, instead of freaking him out makes him feel safe and settled. But when the very thing he’s running from chases him to the bar that’s become his refuge, he learns some truths he never expected. Meshaq can’t help but be drawn to the skittish man and if that means he’ll commit to protecting him, and maybe wooing him too, he’s all for it. Except outside forces are setting the stage for a magical coup and plan for Drew to be a part of it; Meshaq isn’t about to let that happen. With all the changes going on and the stress of being thrust into a world he’d been blissfully unaware of, Drew is going to have to decide if a future with the hulking shifter with a soft heart is possible or if he’ll go back to running.
I was in love with Meshaq before when he was huge, scary, protective, and awed by the trust given him by six lost cubs. Seeing another side of him here, the doting, affectionate, generous, sweetly awkward man made me love him all the more. He gained depth, more facets for us to see and understand who he is and what he prizes above all things. My favorite though, was his courting. The way he would get eager like a puppy, awkward and shy at times, and then the adorably proud moments when his efforts were positively acknowledged…who wouldn’t fall in love with this man?
His fierce protection of his pack and carrying out his duty to his goddess gave us an idea why the darkness targeted them. Aside from the omega issue, there was immense goodness in this fierce pack and it made sense to threaten them with the evil that could taint that and disrupt the balance.
Drew is a fantastic partner for Meshaq. I enjoyed how naturally he fell into the role without even realizing it. It seemed that his natural personality was given sanctuary and then allowed to flourish. While I would have liked to know more about him as an individual, such as his origins and motivations beyond finding safety, I did find that I learned enough to like him quite a lot. I absolutely believe that he is nurturing and strong enough to carry out his future role.
The side characters are engaging without stealing the spotlight and the dramatic events unfolding around everyone progresses in such a way that we’re drawn in and left in anticipation for more when this book ends. What I like about the way this story ended is that it’s a set-up for the series and not a gimmick to get you to find out what happens. The relationship is set on a path clearly headed for awesomeness despite the magical happenings that could threaten it and both Drew and Meshaq are solidified in place as alpha and alpha’s mate. Having the pack support them and all be in on the learning curve that goes along with the magical changes in Drew gives us insight into and hope for each member of the family.
I’m not sure I can fully convey to you my eagerness for more from this series. I found myself smiling and having giddy moments as well as edge-of-my-seat moments where I couldn’t put the book down. Well, let’s be honest here. I didn’t put it down once I started. But those anticipatory moments were enough that I consciously went somewhere I couldn’t be interrupted until I finished the story. So. Dang. Good!
Yay for Meshaq’s story! Macy is on fire and these books are getting better and better. Love that the leader of the hellhounds can find his HEA.
Oh man, this world that Macy Blake has created is just fascinating. I could read all the books and then turn around reread them all again almost immediately. It’s just a fascinating and fun series. When I’m done reading I’m glad I got to read the book, but I’m sad because I’ll never get to read it for the first time again.
Meshaq is the Alpha of the Hellhounds and the champion of one of the daughter goddesses. He’s in charge of making sure that the magical world behaves the way that it’s supposed to. When the rules get broken, Meshaq and his pack go and handle it. He runs a bar and has a few humans working there, but he thinks they don’t know what he and his pack are.
One night, Drew comes into his bar, panicked and scared. He’s running away because someone came into his work and told him that he was theirs. He immediately ran away. Luckily for him, he pointed at a place on the map and it turned out to be Shaq’s bar. Shaq knows that there is something about him, just as soon as he sees and smells him, but he isn’t sure what. He just knows that he has to protect and care for Drew.
This takes place in the same world as the Chosen One books, but they aren’t a direct part of that series. It’s a spinoff, though we have seen Meshaq in those books. I liked him from the first time we saw him, so being able to see him in a story that focuses directly on him is great. I can’t wait to read more of these books and hopefully get a lot more of Shaq and Drew.
