FORBIDDEN LOVECecily Nottingham has made a huge mistake. The marriage bed was still warm when the earl she thought she loved crawled out of it and announced that he loved someone else.Loves. Someone else.Cecily was nothing more than a means to an end, that end being her dowry. With nothing to lose, in an attempt to goad the earl into divorcing her, Cecily sets out to seduce her husband’s cousin, … sets out to seduce her husband’s cousin, Mr. Nottingham.
Little does she realize that he is everything her husband is not: honorable, loyal, trustworthy…
Handsome as sin.
Stephen Nottingham returned to England for one reason — to save his cousin’s estate from financial ruin.
Instead, he finds himself tempted by his cousins beautiful and scorned countess.
He isn’t sure what to do first, strangle his cousin, or kiss the cad’s wife.
As the tangle unravels, his honor is put to the test, right along with his self-control.
Amid snakes, duels, and a good catfight, Cecily realizes the game she’s playing has high stakes indeed.
There are only a few ways for a marriage to end in Regency England, and none of them come without a high price. Is she willing to pay it? Is Stephen?
A ‘Happily Ever After’ hangs in the balance, because, yes, love can conquer all, but sometimes it needs a little bit of help.
Hell Hath No Fury is Book 1 in Annabell Anders’ wildly popular Devilish Debutantes Series.

I loved it. And she got her revenge.
All I can say about this story is I loved it, and Flavion got exactly what he deserved. Vengeance is sweet when it delivered without you having to be responsible.
Perfect title for this book. Lady Cecily found out her husband married her for her money and decided to hatch a plan to force her husband to divorce her which included his handsome cousin. Little dose she know there are more secrets waiting to come revealed and emotion to be known. Enjoyed this book …. Surprise ending
What do you do when you think you’ve married a charming earl but he turns out to be a loathsome toad instead? You plot with your best girl friends how to kill him, of course! Lady Cecily Nottingham isn’t really going to kill her husband (she’s not that desperate yet), but she is open to all options for ways of escaping this marriage. She’s willing to do anything, even cause a scandal so great her husband Flavion will want to divorce her. She’s only half serious about seducing someone and bringing about a divorce, until her husband’s handsome, serious, and honorable cousin Stephen comes back from his world travels. Suddenly, the idea doesn’t seem that far-fetched, and it certainly wouldn’t be a hardship!
Stephen has come back to help his cousin save the earldom from his neglect, mismanagement, and debt, but he doesn’t realize how badly things have been messed up. For the life of him, he can’t figure out why Flavion would betray his beautiful and kind wife. Stephen has always done all he could to help his cousin, despite his many flaws, but this may be too much for him to fix this time.
I really enjoyed this story because it takes you behind the scenes of what could happen in the Regency era when a marriage turned out not to be happily-ever-after. There was very little a wife could do, and nothing that would preserve her honor and dignity. The romance was sizzling, but at times the story was heartbreaking because there didn’t seem to be a way for Cecily and Stephen to be together without destroying their reputations and hurting those around them. But there was also plenty of humor throughout the book, as well as a hint of danger. I enjoyed the writing style, and it kept me interested until the end. I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
Hell Hath No Fury is a well-written and entertaining read. Despite a few phrases that were a bit out of place with time, Anders does a good job of setting the scene and drawing the reader in. We also get some suspense with our romance as the honorable Stephen and our fiery heroine, Cecily, work to manipulate Flavion, and it appears that someone is out to get rid of Cecily… Permanently. The chemistry between Stephen and Cecily can’t be denied, even though Stephen’s honor demands that he do just that and the banter between them adds some wit and fun to the story. With some characters we can love and some we can love to hate, this romance kept me turning pages to see if this pair would get their happy ever after and if the bumbling Flavion would get his just desserts.
Overall, this is a solid debut from Anders and I look forward to seeing what’s next from this author.
Annabelle Anders is a new author to me, and I absolutely love her writing style. Not to descriptive, unpredictable, fast paced, action packed, suspenseful, and mysterious. A definite page turner! With duels, snakes, mysterious happenings, attempted murder, just among a few things, readers will find themselves engrossed and enthralled. Add in a few twists and turns, and you have a masterfully and brillently written Recency Romance. Captivating!! Definitely a keeper!
I am going to go with a 3.5 star rating – rounded up.
As far as debut novels go, this was one of the better ones that I have read. The author has a nice writing style, the book flows nicely and her characters were likable and her plot was believable. HOWEVER, the book has adultery and anyone who follows my reviews knows this is a problem for me. Now with this book, not all is as it seems, but that doesn’t change the fact that Cecily engaged in an affair with Stephen while she was Flavion’s wife.
I really can’t go too much into the plot without totally ruining the book for you – but suffice it to say – the book has a lot of twists and turns, a poorly used heroine, a noble hero, a whacko mistress, a self-centered, immature, selfish husband, a mangy mutt, good friends, steamy love scenes (that I didn’t enjoy because of the aforementioned adultery, but probably would have loved otherwise), snakes (both literally and figuratively), dips in the Serpentine, sword fights, some amusing moments and some heartbreaking moments and FINALLY a HEA that didn’t seem like it could ever be.
I will definitely be looking for this author’s future work and would have no problem recommending this book – as I said, all is not as it seems!
*I am voluntarily leaving a review for this book that was provided to me by the author*
It’s dangerous, endearing, dramatic scandal. Hell Hath No Fury should be renamed, It’s complicated. Cecily married for love, will she cheat for the same reason? Two people are caught up in the machinations of a devious plot that can only end in heartache. Love is a battlefield and Ms. Anders puts readers right on the front lines. A tempting display of romance.
Hell Hath No Fury (Devilish Debutantes Series book 1) by Annabelle Anders
I absolutely loved this book! It made me laugh, it made me sad, it made me mad, and it warmed my heart.
The in-depth story has multiple plots with creative twist and turns and surprises a plenty. It’s originality, humor, creative characters, and witty dialogue is brilliant, and the way the author tells the story is refreshing and remarkably note worthy!
If you love a great story that you can lose yourself in, and at the end, you just can’t wait for the next story, then here’s your sign! Happy Reading!
Note: Prepare for a delightful blush worthy steamy romance
There is so much to say about this book! The plot is so well thought out and has so many plot twists that you are surprised with it. The characters, you either love them or you hate to love them…and quite believable. This was a delightful read that I will read again in the future!
After being impressed by Hell Hath Frozen Over in the Yuletide Happily Ever Afters collection I downloaded this. This is quite a twist on the dupe-the-heiress marrying-for-money scheme. Cecily and her wallflower friends debate how to free Cecily from her good-for-nothing husband. This book has good dialog, humor, characters who are so easy to like, and an intriguing plot all wonderfully woven into an entertaining read.
Flavion Nottingham, the Earl of Kensington is an amazingly handsome man – slim with blonde hair and gloriously cobalt eyes. Unfortunately, he is also a lying toad of a man. Cecily Nottingham, the new Countess of Kensington thought she was marrying for love, but Flavion has proven himself to be a liar and a cheat. Now Cecily wants to find a way out of their sham of a marriage. When she meets Flavion’s cousin Stephen Nottingham, Cecily concocts a plan to drive Flavion to divorce her. Will it work? Or will she be forced to stay chained to a man who doesn’t love her?
I thought this book was very well written. There are quite a few sex scenes in it. I liked Cecily and Stephens characters. I am looking forward to reading the rest in the series.
Hell Hath No Fury is an amazing historical romance by Annabelle Anders. Ms. Anders has delivered a well-written book. The characters are outstanding, I love them. Flavion married Cecily for her money, and promptly informed her after their wedding night. He then flaunts his mistress everywhere. Cecily wants out of the marriage. Stephen is Flavion’s cousin and arrives on the scene too late to stop the wedding. Stephen, Flavion and Cecily’s story is loaded with drama, humor, sizzle, suspense and action. I enjoyed reading Hell Hath No Fury and look forward to reading more from Annabelle Anders in the future. Hell Hath No Fury is book 1 of the Devilish Debutantes Series but can easily be read as a standalone. This is a complete story, not a cliff-hanger.
This was such a delightful read. Endearing characters and some not so endearing. Suspense, some mystery, great dialogue, a little heat. Loved the author’s style of writing. Couldn’t put it down till it was finished. Will have to look for more books by Annabelle Anders.
Wow, just Wow. There is so much to be said about this story. This was a new author to me and I had no idea what to expect. From the very beginning I was hooked and could not stop turning the pages fast enough!
Cecile Nottingham, the new Countess of Kensington has married a Scoundrel. After being courted and pursued during her debut and falling in love with Flavion, the Earl of Kensington, she finds out it was all a farce. Flavion needed her money to stay solvent and maintain his mistress!!
Stephen, Flavion’s cousin has come to help him get out of debt but finds him married and everything a mess. All Cecily wants is to have her marriage dissolved any way possible and requests Stephen’s help.
Ms Anders writing really makes you feel a part of the story with descriptions of the characters and emotions that abound! Mystery, murder and mayhem keep the reader entertained and holding their breathe as to the outcome! You will love this book and be sorry when it ends. Looking forward to reading more by this author and seeing some of the secondary characters (hopefully!) having their own stories! Well done Annabelle Anders!
This was the first time I have read a Regency Romance/Comedy book and I have to say I really liked it. I liked being transported back into a different era for a few hours to escape what my everyday life is.
The main characters of Flavion Nottingham, the Earl of Kensington and his wife Cecily Nottingham have had a rocky and loveless marriage since the words “I do” passed through their lips. Toss in Daphne Cunnington (Flavion’s lover), Stephen Nottingham (Flavion’s cousin) and Cecily’s friends of Emily, Rhoda and Sohpia and let the antics begin!
While reading this book you will encounter horses, a snake (both male and animal), a loyal dog, enjoy a duel or two and a good ole’ fashioned cat-fight. So who wins their happily ever after? Grab this book and find out for yourself!!
Oh My Gosh. This is such a good book by a new author. I highly recommend this one!
Cecil Nottingham, the new Countess of Kinsington’s story will keep you turning pages and wanting more. You will want to stomp Flavion and not shed a tear when he gets hurt. The rotten scoundrel that he is, marrying Cecil just for her dowry wasn’t enough he isn’t through crushing her yet.
Thank goodness for her friends Emily, Sophia, and Rhoda who help her plot how she can escape her deplorable marriage. Murder and divorce are mentioned. In my humble opinion I think murder fits the bill.
Enter Stephan Nottingham, Flavion’s cousin. The reasonable and honorable one who has always been there to fix Flavion’s messes. But can he fix this without losing his heart? Because he can never have the woman he loves. Or can he??
I loved all the characters. I started this one thinking it would be one I could read a little and then go do something else. Nope I had to see what other twists and turns were in store for me. This book has it all betrayal, attempted murder, cheating, and an romance that turns into true love.
Hell Hath No Fury (Devilish Debutantes Book 1) Kindle Edition
by Annabelle Anders
Sometimes in life, a reader just needs a fun and frothy Regency Romance. Hell Hath No Fury is just that Regency Romance.
Full of duel, balls and secrets, this book is everything that a Regency Romance should be.
American Heiress Cecily finds herself tricked into a loveless marriage by Fave Nottingham. He wanted her money to refill his nearly empty coffers. Fave loves someone else and has no issue with embarassing his wife as he continues to chase his true love. With her heart set to find a way out of the sham marriage, Cecily begins to plot. But as with mice and men, women’s plots often go awry. Cecily finds her plans in danger when Fave’s cousin, Stephen, returns to London.
Snakes and high tea, balls and brawls. A perfect summer book or the perfect book to read in front of the fireplace as the snowfalls outside

Loved the dynamic characters and the plot twists! Great series starter, can’t wait to read the rest in the series!
I read this book in 2018 & have now read it again & enjoyed it even more the second time. The twists & turns, dangers, & romance give so much to build the wonderful characters in this book.
Cecile Nottingham, Countess of Kensington, has married a deceitful cad. She was courted & wooed by the handsome rake, Flavion, the Earl of Kensington – she fell in love with him but on her marriage night she learns it was all lies. Flavion needed her money to pay his debts & maintain his mistress.
Stephen, Flavion’s cousin has come back to London to offer his assistance in getting Flavion out of debt but finds he has married an heiress & everything around the earldom is in shambles. All Cecily wants is a divorce, annulment or whatever it takes to get away from Flavion; she requests help from Stephen.
I felt I was right there fighting snakes & wielding pool sticks – the writing style really pulls you in with the development of the characters & the emotions experienced. This is such a great series – you won’t be disappointed!
