Distraction soon arrives in the handsome form of MacAllister Booke—a researcher who’s come to investigate the rumors of witchcraft that haunt Three Sisters Island. Right from the start, he knows there’s something extraordinary about Ripley Todd. Fascinated by her struggle with her amazing abilities, he becomes determined to help her accept who she is—and find the courage to open her heart.

Second book in the Three Sisters Trilogy. Worth the read, but you really should start at book 1 which is Dance Upon the Air. This is a nice, light hearted read.
Heaven and Earth is the second in the paranormal romantic suspense series, Three Sisters Island. I love the hero in this book–a sexy but absent-minded professor type who can hold his own against the Alpha heroes in this series. The three good witches on the island move closer to the final showdown against evil in the third and last book of the triology. But each book has its own villian and plenty of suspense and romance.
Heaven and Earth by Nora Roberts – Ripley may have stepped in magically to protect Nell, but she has sworn off magic thankyouverymuch. When a trust fund baby paranormal activity PhD with really nice arm comes to Three Sisters Island following his nose after the brujahaha with Evan Remington, she knows he spells trouble. The problem is they are just a little too good together! The repartee in this one is to die for! Happy Reading!
Been a few years since I first read this trilogy. I must state this is not my favourite one.
Wasn’t keen on Ripley in book one, in this, her own story, she still acts without thought.
Denigrates her gift but then thinks she can use it when it suits her. Supposedly out of love and protection but felt more like selfishness and anger to me.
Ripley was as stupidly stubborn and obstinate as expected. Having to do things her way, on her own, no matter that the past shows she needs her circle to overcome what is happening.
Love Mac. Solid, dependable and of course he is involved as he is a descendant of the original three on a different family line. His family history has forged his job path in life and knowledge from is family line is very helpful.
Having read most of them more than once, I can safely say Nora Robert’s trilogies are fairly predictable.
Her characters are all designated into their types, they act similarly, they behave similarly and they react similarly but they always give me a fairly pleasant reading time.
love this author’s take on magic very down to earth without being in your face about it
I’ve read this book and series quite a few times. It’s like reconnecting with friends. I’ve enjoyed it every time I’ve read it.
This was the first of the series I read. I love the story behind the Island and how the sisters protect it and the people there. Ripley doesn’t want to be a witch but keeps coming up reasons to have to use her powers. Mac comes along and sticks his nose in the story and things start to happen. I really love this book and it won’t disappoint.

I enjoyed the characters. Their story lines kept me glued to the book. Couldn’t wait for the next book
Great, romantic
As always Nora Roberts delivers another great book. The characters are wonderful and the story moves quickly
“Earth’s crammed with heaven…
But only he who sees, takes off his shoes.”

Rating: Mature Audience: sexual content, violence, language, triggers for descriptions of domestic violence.
This second book in Roberts ‘Three Sisters Island’ trilogy features Deputy Sheriff Ripley Todd as she fights against her chaotic paranormal gift, her anger at being forced to resurrect and use her powers, and her struggles with finding her happy-ever-after. It is well worth the read. It is strongly suggested that you first read book 1 of the trilogy. Book one contains too much foundational information and backstory to read this as a standalone.
“Love him and let him love you. Do you think anything else under heaven really matters?” –James A. Baldwin
MacAllister Brooke, the paranormal researcher, travels to Three Sisters Island to meet his fate. His history and connections with the island prove important as our characters fight the evil from a centuries-old curse intent on destroying the island and its inhabitants. I love this geeky scientist. He is the best at everything, smart with a touch of the absent-minded professor thrown in. I just love him.
Jonathan Q. Harding, a print reporter for the First Magazine, did not know he had an appointment with destiny when he exited the ferry onto Three Sisters Island. As far as he was concerned, he was working on the story of the year featuring Nell Channing, a.k.a. Helen Remington. Harding had meticulously traced her every step, from the time she faked her death at the ocean cliffs of California, as she cooked her way in dives and diners across the US until she reached the North Atlantic coast and landed on Three Sisters Island. His copy would read that Nell’s/Helen’s elaborate plan was to escape her abusive husband, the handsome and extremely wealthy, very connected, high profile, a powerhouse to the rich and famous in TV and movies, Evan Remington.
In book 1, only we the reader know that a chance rumor alerted Remington to the possibility that his wife Helen might still be alive. He wondered if she had staged her death to escape him? His rage was all-consuming as he secretly traveled to the island to investigate. Harding then picked up the story where Remington discovered his wife’s location, attacked her and nearly killed the local Sheriff, Zack Todd. At this point, Harding’s fact-finding became a bit fuzzy. He knew Nell escaped Remington and had run into the woods near her cottage. Remington chased her and held a knife at her throat while two officers held guns on him. Something happened and Remington had a psychotic breakdown. He was arrested screaming ‘kill the witch’ and ranting about flashing lights and snakes under his skin. Harding’s goal was to interview all the participants in Nell’s story and sort out what happened in the woods that night. As part of his investigation, he made numerous visits to the prison so he could interview Remington and, unfortunately, came away with far more than he bargained.
“There is nothing on this earth more to be prized than true friendship.” –Thomas Aquinas
Book 1 concluded the first phase in solving the curse against the Three Sisters Island. That part dealt with Nell Channing, a newbie to the craft and just discovering her powers. Book 2 centers around Ripley Todd and her part in solving the curse. Let me just say that I like Ripley. She is a no-nonsense, large-and-in-charge and will kick you’re a** in a heartbeat. She is strong, athletic, smart and has a chip on her shoulder the size of New York state. Word of caution Do-Not-Mess with this Deputy Sheriff. I love her and I love this geeky Mac that ticks her off at every turn and enjoys merely watching her fume and fuss. They are made for each other and it is hilarious how he can get under her skin. Such a pair. It is a wonder the heat from their encounters didn’t scorch the pages of my book. Hot doesn’t even come close.
I own two copies of this trilogy, the paperback versions, and the trade copy. I have read this at least three times already. I just love the comradery of the characters. These are people you would want to know and have as friends. I love the island and want to visit. I don’t think my thin-blood, from the south-central US, could withstand a Yankee winter… no offense.
Book 1: Dance Upon the Air: [Nell & Zack]: 5-stars
Book 2: Heaven and Earth: [Ripley and Mac]: 5-stars
Book 3: Face the Fire: [Mia & Sam]
Great book, great book.
Totally loved the entire trilogy.
You need to read all three books to get the entire story…not a hardship as they were all enjoyable reads.
Love all her books but especially the series.
