I really enjoyed getting these bonus scenes/short stories from the Heathens Ink Series and seeing snippets from all the guys in certain defining moments that were featured during the timeline of the Series.
Out of Focus – I rated this 3.5 stars but I rounded it up. I read this completely out of order since it was included as a bonus at the back of the Heathens Ink Series Collection so I read Flash Me first. I enjoyed reading about Liam’s graduation, seeing him come into who he was meant to be but still struggling with the decision about bottom surgery. He still really wants Owen and thinking that at 18 years old he’ll tell Owen how he’s liked him for years as he’ll finally be an adult but now he’s reached 18 he knows he’s still not an adult yet so has a bit more growing to do and be able to stand on his own two feet as his brothers have done so much for him. Then he’ll be able to tell Owen how he feels about him. I enjoyed the moment that Liam met Wyatt since they’d been friends for awhile before they started dating during Flash Me and the moment that Liam felt something for Wyatt like he felt for Owen.
Dear Cupid – I really enjoyed this short story and getting more Royal, Nash & Zade. Royal totally cracked me up with his k*nky Valentines Day gift list for Cupid, exactly like kids do at Christmas writing gift lists for Santa. This story made me smile and I really think that Royal handled the misunderstanding overhearing Nash and Zade talk about getting Royal a new puppy for Valentines Day but he thought they were talking about getting a baby as that’s what it sounded like. He didn’t freak out he just asked his friends who either have a baby or one on the way how they knew that they were ready for a baby. Even though he was completely freaking out on the inside as he never really thought about kids but at least the misunderstanding allowed them to talk about their future and the possibility of fostering teenagers who’ve had a rough go of things. Royal was so excited that his gift was an adorable puppy. It was totally meant to be as the puppy is called Prince. Nash and Royal’s gift to Zade made me laugh. The chemistry between these three even after being together for so long is still completely off the charts, as well as hot a f*ck. I’d recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
Madden & Thane’s Date Night – I enjoyed this bonus scene of Madden & Thane’s first date night since the girls were born. I love how worried Madden is about leaving the girls. I loved seeing the original Heathens Ink couple starting their family and I just know they’re going to be great dads.
Owen Becomes a Heathen – I loved seeing the moment that Owen came into Heathens Ink for a job and that he felt some sort of tangible connection when he locked eyes with Liam. It wasn’t a sexual thing because he’s not a creep but it definitely was something. As we only got to see if from Liam’s POV in going Commando.
Dani’s Wild Night – I enjoyed getting to see Dani, Beau & Cas’s night together. I’m looking forward to reading more about the dynamics of Beau and Cas’s relationship when they the third they actually need. Dani finally got the wild night with Beau the hot bartender and his housemate and police detective Cas that she’s been wanting for awhile. I hope Dani eventually gets her happily ever after, even if it’s off page.
Liam’s First Ink – I enjoyed seeing Liam get his first tattoo by Owen which his brother Royal was definitely pouting about. I loved how when Liam told Owen that in a dream he had the owl tattoo and all he knew was that he was happy. Liam thought Owen was going to laugh at him but Owen told him that it actually makes a lot of sense. He also told Liam that he’s a firm believer in intuition and things that are meant to be. He also said that the owl mightn’t mean something to Liam now, but one day it will. Spot on Owen it ends up meaning everything to him. O – Owen, W – Wyatt, L – Liam it’s actually a representation of their relationship.
A Tattoo Competition – I liked seeing that the meeting of Downward Spiral in Las Vegas when the Heathens Ink Family all went there for Madden & Thane’s bachelor’s party actually came to something. I doesn’t surprise me that Royal struck up a friendship with their eccentric keyboardist Benji. I loved seeing Nox growth with tattooing and being entered into a tattoo convention and is tattooing a Benji no less. No wonder he’s nervous of messing up. I loved how supportive Adam is of Nox and how much he believes in him.
Wyatt’s First Ink – I loved seeing Wyatt get his first ink, the same owl that Owen tattooed on Liam years prior that came to Liam in a dream that he had no idea what it meant but he was happy. Owen already has the owl so now Wyatt has it as well. Considering the O – Owen, W – Wyatt, L – Liam actually represents their relationship. I enjoyed seeing the progression of their relationship as they all seem to be madly in love as during Flash Me Owen and Wyatt didn’t have much time to cultivate their relationship together so it was nice seeing their flirty loving moments while Owen was tattooing him.
Baby Jay is Born – I enjoyed reading the bonus scene of Gage and Beck becoming dad’s. I loved seeing how all their Heathen Ink family showed up to wait for them at the hospital while their newest family member arrived. Total family/friendship goals.
I’d definitely recommend this book, series and author to everyone.
