From USA Today Bestselling author K Webster and Nikki Ash, comes a modern telling of a classic tale. This isn’t a typical love story. This is a story of what happens when love is so powerful and all-consuming that it has the ability to destroy everyone involved. It’s definitely not pretty and it’s certainly not a fairytale, but it’s their story and it couldn’t be told any other way.
Loved this story. Never knew what would happen next.
There was no way on this earth I wasn’t going to read this. Wuthering Heights is and always will be one of my loves. Broody Heathcliff is probably the reason why I love possessive, obsessive alpha males.
Heath, as you could guess, is a modern and darker adaption of Wuthering Heights. Our main characters are Heath and Catrina. Heath is our poor, little orphan; taken in by Catrina’s father. The love between Heath and Catrina is obsessive and consuming…and they truly only deserve each other. Not significantly different from the original story, both Heath and Catrina are terrible people. Catrina is selfish and Heath is vengeful. Catrina’s choices lead to lasting effects, and Heath is motivated by nothing but revenge thereafter. Heath’s life becomes devoted to destroying everyone who ever wronged him, even going so far as to punish their children as the story continues nearly two decades into the future.
I loved how Nikki and Kristi put their spin on the original story. Their Heath was dark and broken and you long to find a redeemable quality. His actions are deplorable and yet you keep hoping everything will work out alright for him. On the other end of the spectrum, Cat and Harrison felt like happiness and light. Cat and Harrison’s relationship was nearly perfect to me: that irresistible combination of instalove or soulmates, real character development, and sexy times.
Together it was a dark and painful mess with the sort of happy ending you could have only hoped for. If the authors are looking for their next project, might I suggest Jane Eyre? I’ll let your people talk with my people…
I had high expectations going into this book, so I am super bummed that I didn’t enjoy this book as much as I had hoped. It wasn’t a bad book by any means. The writing was very good. I am a huge fan of K Webster, but this was my first exposure to Nikki Ash. The book was seamlessly written for sure, and I couldn’t tell you who wrote what parts. Unfortunately, the pace for the first 40% (part 1) of the book was too slow and bogged down with way too many sex scenes (and I can’t even believe I am saying that). By 26% in I was already skimming them because I just wanted to get back to the meat of the story. We get ZERO details about what Heath was doing for the year he was gone. I wanted to know what happened to him. How he made his money, etc.
Also, just a heads up to anyone who likes their books “safe”, this isn’t going to be a book for you.
I also can’t say that I liked any of the characters in the first part. Heath started off great, then his character lost its luster. Although in the second half, I DID find his over the top mustache-twirling villain behavior amusing at times. I wish there had been more scenes with “crazy” Heath in that part of the book. His character just kind of fell flat by the end. Catrina, on the other hand, was god awful from the start. She was vapid and self-centered. I am guessing they weren’t really meant to be good people. However, Cat (the 2nd) was a much more likable character for sure. I also quite liked Harrison and Helen.
On the more positive side, I did like the Wuthering Heights tie-in, and the way the story stretched generations. I also liked the slight taboo elements. The second half of the book was much better than the first for sure. The sex was toned down a lot, and the story moved along at a better pace and was quite frankly a thousand times more interesting than part one.
Last, and this was just a silly thing that bothered me, but I was a little skeeved out by Granny Helen telling this 18-year-old girl this story complete with XXX sex descriptions. And then her own mother telling her about her sex life with the daughters father…*shiver* *lol*
In the end, this turned out to be the tale of two different books for me rating wise. Part one was a struggle to get through. There was way too much sex that took away from the story. The characters weren’t likable in the least. I truthfully almost called it a day at that point as it was looking to be a 2-star read at best. I soldiered on though, and part two was much much better. The story took precedence over the sex. The characters themselves were much more likable. It just had an overall better feel to it, and if I was rating the book on part two alone, it would be a solid 4-star book. Alas, that isn’t the case, so I am going to go with 3,5-stars as an overall rating.
When Nikki Ash told me she was writing a novel with K. Webster I just about died! This story was on another level of intensity, angst, love and so much more. I’m still trying to wrap my head around this novel. This was a roller coaster I’m still coming down from. I’m gonna keep thus short as I don’t see how I can comment without giving details away and let me tell you something, there is no way you can comment on this book without giving stuff away. I lived every moment of it and this story will stay with me for awhile. All I will say is… Harrison as odd as it may be I loved him!!! All of him!!! Go read this book asap! You’ll know what I’m referring to and you won’t be disappointed. Don’t hate me when you begin reading and your emotions are flying all over the place. I went from being in awe of Catrina and Heath to being absolutely pist to going crazy and having hissy guys to completely sadden and a sense of lose. These two writers together are lethal but amazing. Be ready to hold your breath and have your heart racing out of your chest, but like I said in the end you will love these two authors for writing this story. Thank you Nikki Ash and K.Webster for writing this all consuming story.
This story took me on an incredible journey that is gut-wrenching, challenging yet inspiring in the end. Heath is an orphan that found a home with Mr. Crenshaw and was groomed to work in his business. Catrina, Mr. Crenshaw’s daughter, captivated Heath from the moment he first saw her. Their love is all-consuming but when the choice is love or money, well, Catrina chooses money which sends Heath on an intense journey for revenge. Now, I did say that this story is inspiring in the end, as we move through the generations, we meet Cat and Harrison, a love so pure that you can only be inspired by the intensity of their blazing love. I enjoyed how this story was told, it’s recounted from family member’s that are looking back on this tumultuous ride which gives an additional perspective on Heath and Catrina’s intense connection. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
I love d this book.always great work from nikki ash. This was a great collab between authors. Can’t wait for more to come.
HEATH is an evocative tale of revenge, possession, obsession and an all-consuming love spanning two generations with the an enlightening recount trickling into the third. This is a story of people who love with all of their heart, of people who think they understand the meaning of love, and people who fight for that love.
~Love doesn’t pay for homes or vacations or cars. It doesn’t buy food or clothes.~
~Love isn’t selfish. Love is fierce and feral and out of control, but it’s also wholesome and good.~
Heath: An updated classic masterpiece.
Told against the background of a beloved nanny telling her teenaged charge a story of tragic love for her to learn from, we read a modern retelling of the most tragic love story of all time. Never has there been a greater love, nor a loss experienced so deep that it scarred the lover, turning the man obsessed by the love of his life, into a mad man hell-bent on revenge.
Nikki Ash and K. Webster analyse Heath through the eyes of their characters, told in multiple POV as each person is trying to understand just how deep and entrenched within his psyche, that Heath’s love was for Catrina. The fallout for those characters was huge. For me, it was impossible to do anything other than view his despicable and vengeful acts through the eyes of a man so broken by the loss of his true love, his absolute reason for being, that he became a beast hell-bent of destroying those who took her away from him.
I wanted to dislike Heath immensely, but I couldn’t. Each time he committed a heinous act, the authors garnered sympathy for him. Even to the final pages, my heart cried for him. For the honest love that should have been his, had the selfish Catrina not chosen money over love, and for when he couldn’t comprehend how it could be when someone actually does choose love over money. Everything that he has worked for, believed in and schemed over is undermined. What is there left for him now?
I’m probably in the minority of those who actually hasn’t read the original story, but believe me when I say that as a writing pair, Nikki Ash and K Webster are the dynamic duo who have created an updated classic masterpiece. Congratulations to you both on a fabulous book. 5 Stars.
From the authors:
What you need to know about Heath:
It’s hot!
It’s sexy!
It’s emotional!
It’s angsty AF!
It’s a love story unlike anything you’ve read!
*truer words have never been written!*
I don’t really know what I just read but it was really well thought out. I can’t even tell you who the leads are because I think it’s everyone …. To be clear, nothing I say is a negative. This story was all the #wins, I’m just not sure what to tell you without giving you the plot. And I’m not doing THAT. Because I went in blind and OH MY what a ride of discovery every page turned out to be!
This story is most definitely tension fueled. Both sexually and not LOL Everything was just tense and it was wonderful. I don’t think it’s for everyone and if you know anything about the book Wuthering Heights and these authors, then you’ll know if this book is for you. They took a classic and made it their own, twisted and taboo-ish, and hard to put down!
This book had me feeling so many emotions when reading it. I literally was screaming and bawling my eyes out at the end of part 1, I wasn’t sure how I felt about the book. haha But then I started reading part 2 and OMG absolutely LOVED it!! This is what a good book is about. It gives you ups and downs and makes you feel so many things and just keeps you wanting more! I highly recommend reading this book!
Wow…that was a stunner!!! I’m picking up my heart up off the floor. This is a FANTASTIC first for Nikki Ash and K. Webster, a very gifted writing team that has the ability to strike right into your heart and soul. Emotionally riveting, hot-as-hell sex scenes that will make you squirm in your seat but yet, beautifully twisted. This book will have you hooked and obsessed with every single character. It’s a HOLY WOAH wicked web of juicy drama with a moving ending that will blow you away!!! Nikki Ash and K. Webster slayed this!!! You should read HEATH!!!
Heath is a great read of one of history’s best novels. The love and tragedy made this book a page turner! I loved the build of the relationships and the unpredictable chapters. Great read!!!
Heath is not a romance novel. If you’re wanting a book that’s hearts and flowers, this is not it. This is the story of madman, crushed by love and fueled by revenge. It’s a story about power, jealousy, betrayal, and the harsh reality that not all stories are happy stories. It’s deep, dark, twisted, and shocking. It’s also absolutely brilliant.
This story was filled with suspense, romance and angst.

K Webster , Nikki Ash
This collaboration between K.Webster and Nikki Aah is mind blowing. There are no words to describe Heath’s story. It is definitely dark and twisted so beware! The way the story progressed had me on the edge. Definitely rereading it
I received a free copy of this book to read and review foe Wicked Reads, so here is my review.
Heath was on the streets until a man came along and rescued him and raised him as one of his own. He even showed him all about his business and talked about Heath taking over when he finished college and the man was ready to retire. Heath was so happy. He fell in love with the man’s daughter when he first saw her and they are always talking about living a happy life together.
Catrina has always lived the pampered life. Her father has always given her everything she has ever wanted. When he brought home the boy from the streets, she didn’t know that she would fall in love with him. But slowly she found that her feeling for Heath began to bloom in to so much more.
As Heath and Catrina grew, so did their love for each other. But when her father dies unexpected, their lives changed for the worst. And the chain of events that happened are told by several others.
Will Heath and Catrina find their way back to each other? Can the pain and heartache ever be repaired?
I loved and hated this story so much. Loved the love that Heath and Catrina shared and hated the heartache and pain that everyone went through. Sometimes you have to go through pain and heartache to get to a happily ever after and it makes you wonder if it is really worth it.
If you haven’t read anything from K. Webster or Nikki Ash, you NEED to read this one, this is a first for me from Nikki Ash and I look forward to reading more from her. I will read anything from K. Webster, even her shopping list, she is that good. But I recommend having a box of tissues close by when you read this one, you will need them, so enjoy the tears because you will shed them for Heath.
**Wicked Reads Review Team**
Wow just wow……. I’ve been left completely speechless by what I just finished reading. THIS. IS. A. MUST. READ!!!! I’ve never read anything like this. My emotions fluctuated so much while reading this story. This is a love story but in such a twisted way filled with revenge, anger and oh so many different things. This one definitely needs to be read without any spoilers so you can get the entire feel of the story.
Heath love for Catrina is so strong that it turns bitter. They were from different sides of the tracks but that didn’t stop their love. Their social and financial status was the beginning of the downfall of their relationship but their love for each other at times put all of that aside. At first I felt so heartbroken for Heath but as the story continued omg how I hated him. Heath from the beginning of the story is not the same at the end. You’ll understand once you start reading. Catrina was a complicated woman and as the story continues you’ll realize she isn’t what we all thought she was.
Then they were the secondary characters that made up the rest of the story and every piece of the puzzle starts falling into places. Characters that you will think are selfish you’ll realize towards the ending that they actually weren’t but blindly in love. Then another character you wonder how the hell is he in love with her and then you find out something about his background. These authors were GENIUSES!!! The setup of this entire story with all the different inputs of the characters will keep your heart beating fast wondering what in the hell is going to happen next and omg I can’t believe this. It was that damn good. The ending was exactly the closure that was needed and I loved it!!!!
One of the best stories I’ve read this year!!
I can not express what this book made me feel.
I can not express what this book was.
I can not express what this book has me thinking.
I can not express what this book did to my heart.
I can not express what this book is STILL doing to my heart. Even thought it has been hours since I’ve finished it.
I have never read Wuthering Heights, which I am now kicking myself in the hiney for, but if it is as agnsty as this one was, then holy hell. My heart will be in for a ride.
This story was not sunshine and rainbows.
This story was not easy.
This story was not nice.
This story was no kind of pretty and loving.
But is was hella good. Like beyond good.
It was so twistedly (is that even a word?) beautiful, in its own dark and psychotic way.
It was heartbreaking.
It was torture.
It was hate filled.
Gosh, but it was amazing.
“If God had a plan, it didn’t include us. Nothing this fiery-this intense-could come from the heavens. The flames that continually burn through us are straight from the bowels of hell.
A devil and his queen.”
I wish there were more than 5 stars to give!!!
What do you do when two of your favorite authors come together to write a book? Well if you are a fangirl like me you jump up and down and one-click as soon as possible! Right? Right!
Nikki Ash is a relatively new to me author, but I have absolutely loved everything I have read from her thus far. K Webster has pretty much owned me since I read my first book by her years ago! I knew this book was going to be good, but dear lord, I had no idea it would be such an epic read! The writing flowed together flawlessly, it was absolute perfection! It was almost as if they were destined to write this story.
This book had me from page one, I did nothing else but read from Saturday night until Sunday night, cleaning and cooking over the weekend be damned. There was just no time, these characters were life! I was completely overwhelmed with emotions. I wanted to throw my ipad across the room, but at the same time I wanted to hug it close to me while licking the screen. They were the best of characters and the worst of characters all at the same time. It is like nothing I have ever read before. I loved every minute of it!
Hands down, one of my best reads for 2018! Thanks so much for a great weekend read, ladies!
Wow! This book took I love about K. Webster & Nikki Ash’s writing, combined it and created something phenomenal. K. Webster & Nikki Ash took a classic and made it modern and their own!
From reading both authors’ books in the past, I knew that once I started, I wouldn’t be able to stop.
It was an incredible journey! I hope these two authors will write more together in the future.
I voluntarily reviewed this book.
In this modern retelling of a literary classic, the story of Heath and Caterina is revealed and how their actions impact each other and future generations. From the beginning, Heath is a passionate and determined man ready to claim what he believes to be his in business and love. However, Caterina is a difficult woman with selfish tendencies and her decisions have lasting effects. Fueled by the need for vengeance and to sooth his darkened soul, Heath launches a campaign to ruin those who ever underestimated him.
With Heath’s personality and deep desire dominating the storyline, it brings an added layer of tension to the past and present. Having such a stronghold on other characters, Heath is relentless and as the plot evolves to underscore the obsessive path of destruction, it also offers hope as others make certain choices.
For me, Heath is such a memorable character with his tenacity, misguided love and vulnerability. His strength was also a weakness and thankfully the authors stayed true to his character arc. With Caterina, she too was conflicted and it affected all around her. As for the secondary characters, they all had a significant role, but especially Harrison and Cat. Sharing characteristics but quite different in their choices, the parallels of their path sheds light on the past and impacts the future.
Having not read the original book in which Heath is based, I had no expectations or knowledge of what could occur and that added to the overall plot tension. The collaborative effort between K Webster and Nikki Ash is seamless and their interpretation on this classic is a whirlwind offering a range of intense emotion and scorching chemistry.
Heath is an epic story about obsession and sacrifice. This book would appeal to those who enjoy an imperfect romance with dark twists.
