Well, this is a very pleasant surprise in my summer reading adventures. I have had most of the books in this series downloaded on my Nook for awhile and believe me, I will be reading the rest of this series. These firefighters are too good not to!
Heat of the Night is the second book of the Island Fire series. I finished the first book, Playing with Fire, yesterday and immediately started on this one. Have I mentioned this series is about a group is irresistible firefighters? The setting is in south TX, San Amaro Island, and it sounds beautiful and raw. Evan is the charmer of the department, he wants a family someday…operative word, someday. He is known for being able to pick up just about any woman he sets his eyes on. He is far from ready to settle down. Selena is seeking refuge at the vacation home her father had built many years ago. It is a place she can find solace and feels most connected with her father. She is fleeing family conflicts and sorely needs the connection. The night she arrives she is looking to forget everything she has left behind and all the family drama. That’s all it’s supposed to be. Unfortunately, plans don’t always work out as they are supposed to.
This series has characters you can connect with. It focuses on some typical problems, but doesn’t get overly dramatic. It’s more of a good summer read set on a beautiful island with lots of interesting characters. Summer is here and this is a good series to get all the beach feels.
This was pretty good. I enjoyed this book and look forward to reading more from this author.
This book is a very easy read and good characters. I read it in a very short time. I would recommend it for those who like a romantic read.
Great storyline.
Love this book
This was a very quick and sweet romance. Selena and Evan were a cute couple. Evan has to work hard to convince Selena to open her heart and take a chance on a relationship.
I liked Selena. She was from a rich family but she wasn’t a snobbish brat. She was a hard worker who appreciates what she has.
Overall, a great story. It was a nice break from the urban fantasy that I have been reading for the past few weeks.
OMG! Selena and Evan had my head spinning! She wants him, doesn’t want him and he’s trying so hard. I actually love how real they are and this book didn’t disappoint!
Wonderful story! Wonderful characters! I can’t wait to read the next story!
Couldn’t put it down. Loved the story line.
Cute story….romantic.
Really liked the characters. Got the second in the series free and bought the first one, liked them both,
Hmmm
I got to say this book had potential but was squandered by Selena’s mood swings. She was like fire and ice. Her mood swings had no rhyme or reason. I get it your pregnant. I’ve been pregnant twice and never treated my husband as badly as Selena treated Evan. I mean I get it you lost your father young but that’s no excuse to push away the man you claim to love. Evan was a plain pushover. He danced to the beat of her drum. Selena was more child than adult. It was a good read just not for me because of Selena’s pretentious behavior. Her actions were born of cowardice.
I really enjoyed the storylines and characters in this book. You got to see the stress of the job from the families prospective. What they do to help each other cope and give support. Looking forward to the next book in the series.
I loved it.
Read the first two books in this series and thoroughly enjoyed them
Love the book
Definitely an author I’m going to start following.
enjoyable read …. couldn’t put it down. I really enjoy series stories that can stand-alone. I’ll be looking for Playing with Fire & Fully Involved.
I loved this book. Stayed up last night to finish it. It showed how some handled their fears and sometimes familys behavior isn’t what you think.
Definitely worthy of my time & I loved the characters!
