Virgil Flowers hunts a killer responsible for a strange string of murders in this thriller from #1 New York Times bestselling author John Sandford. On a hot, humid summer night in Minnesota, Virgil Flowers gets a call from Lucas Davenport. A body has been found near a veterans’ memorial in Stillwater with two shots to the head and a lemon in his mouth—exactly like the body they found two weeks ago. they found two weeks ago.
Working the murders, Flowers becomes convinced that someone is keeping a list—with many more names on it. And when he discovers what connects them all, he’s almost sorry. Because if it’s true, then this whole thing leads down a lot more trails than he thought it did—and every one of them is booby-trapped.

It’s by John Sandford! Read it…
An early edition to Virgil Flowers series. More light hearted than Prey series from same author.
I like the characters, especially Virgil Flowers.
All of the Virgil Flowers books written by John Sanford are great reads.
Liked.
John Sanford never fails to write a great book!
I love John Sandford, His books are all awesome
I love Virgil Flowers almost more than Lucas Davenport.
Okay, but unrealistic
I just love “that Fucking Flowers” character in all the books that Sanford has published
Always a good read
Worth reading, although not one of Sandfords better efforts
I love all John Sanford books. Can’t wait till the next one comes out.
I have read every John Sandford novel, and each is absolutely wonderful! I especially love reading anything with Virgil Flowers in it because he is so smart and funny as hell! Action is non-stop and you feel as if you are right there beside the characters experiencing everything along with them. Extremely hard to put any of these books down and get on with life. That’s how I tell a good book from a bad one….
Classic Sanford. Be sure you have plenty of time to finish this when you get to the last 100 pages. You won’t want to put it down.
Not one of my favorites of his books.
Liked it, enjoy all of his books.
It has been awhile since I read Heat Lightening. A few of the appealing aspects are, the intricacy of the story. So many different personalities interacting kept me very involved. I love that each of the characters is so realistic, they all operate in that grey area called human nature. Very well written, the story flows so well that I was at the end before I realized it.
Not as good as most Virgil Flowers books. Kind of boring at times which is not at all like Sanford’s books.
Another great Virgil Flowers novel.
