Book #1 in a brand new Heartsridge Shifters series from USA Today bestselling author Olivia Arran.Alpha wolf shifter Owen Robson knows exactly what he wants and he has a plan all worked out: stay calm, use his charm, and the woman of his dreams will melt into his arms. Yeah, he might have underestimated his fated mate. When it comes to Bree, self-control evades him. But he’s determined to win her … him. But he’s determined to win her over and uncover her secrets, because if he doesn’t, she’ll run. Or fly. What the hell was fate thinking, pairing a wolf with a dragon?
Dragon shifter Briana followed the leader of the rogues to the shifter town of Heartsridge because he needed her help. But that’s all sorted now, so why is she still here? Any dragon with a spark of sense would have flapped wings and hauled glittery butt out of here, but… no. Not her.
Yes, she’s tired of running and hiding. And she’s made new friends. So, obviously, it can’t be a certain stubborn alpha wolf keeping her here. Right?
Throw in:
A patronizing alpha dragon sticking his snout in.
A surprising career change.
A new lead on an old enemy.
Way too much pressure to become a registered shifter.
Okay, having a big, strong alpha wolf on her side might be a good thing. Oh, and he’s insanely hot. That helps, too.
This full length novel takes place after the South-One Bears series, but you do not have to read the previous series to enjoy this book. Each book features a different couple and their happy ever after. Also included: naughty language, fully realized love scenes, and big, burly shifters who only have eyes for their fated mates.

Heartsridge Shifters
It’s a new world. Shifters are no longer a secret and they’re ready to fight for their right to live free.
Everything is different. Six years ago, the Registration Act forced shifters out into the open and the world changed. Towns were created to provide a safe haven for those shifters who chose to follow the law, and those who didn’t were declared rogue.
Heartsridge is one of the few shifter towns in existence, guarded and protected by special teams of bears and wolves. Their job: to protect the right for shifters to live and love, and for the space to run free as nature intended. Because not all humans found the truth easy to accept–that they’re no longer at the top of the food chain. Tourism keeps the town thriving, humans able to visit and stay for a week, but then they have to leave. It’s the law.
Because this new world can’t be trusted.

We are reintroduced to Owen Robson, Alpha of the Protectors. Wolf shifters that runs security for Heartsridge. He has met his destined mate in Bree a dragon shifter. He has to convince Bree that she needs to stay and register and he would be the reason to stay. Bree has been alone and trying to blend in with the humans for a long time. Living in Heartsridge would give her friends, belonging and a secure and safe place to live. Life for Bree is complicated. She would like to stay but knows she will eventually break Owen’s heart. Can a wolf and a dragon really be soulmates?
Bree is hiding other secrets. Can Owen break down the walls of mistrust and secrecy that hold Bree apart from him?
A perfect pairing in the end but Bree’s anti mate, I am leaving attitude dragged on too long for me.
A return to some wonderful characters in Heartsridge.
A good enjoyable read but I felt nothing really happened until nearly the end.
Most of this book is all duck and dance between Brianna and Owen. Even though the sparks were there it just felt lacking due to Bree’s anti mate attitude for too much of the book. Lots of hinting that she can’t stay but we never get a reason why till too far into the book to make me care. Getting married but not admitting they are mates was weird for me but worked into the story.
When it all came out about Bree’s ‘parents’ I felt that there was no real resolution. Did Bree forgive them? Bit difficult to work with them otherwise.
Owen was such a great character, so patient and supportive. I think he deserved more of a declaration from Bree but all good in the end.
We get very little movement as to what is happening with the Purists apart from the Shifter Council becoming involved at long last and making deals with the human government. A dangerous game will be played out I think.
It was lovely to return to Heartsridge and spend time with everyone and meet some new characters. Carter and Grace are still dancing around each other, playing the long game of chase might just backfire on him. Definitely have a few new characters I want stories for.
Dante really needs his story, what a dark horse he is. Cannot wait to see who is his mate.
This is my honest review of this book.
I love Bree’s character, her and Owen are so perfect for each other.
The noose is tightening around the traitor in Heartsridge but who is it ? The intrigue continues keeping the series interesting.
What can I say about Cater and Miss Lockett, his sights are firmly set on her and I can’t wait for their story.
After a stupid declaration when she thought Owen was dying, Bree has found herself the Pack Cook. Slight problem…she is NOT a cook! Owen wants her to join the pack so he can protect but Bree has a problem with itchy feet and doesn’t want to register as a shifter either. She may be a Dragon shifter but she doesn’t want to be with the bossy Alpha there either!
Owen seems to find great joy in needling and annoying Bree at every turn. But when he realises her skills lie in protection, he finagles her into becoming a Pack Enforcer. But when visitors from the Shifter Council arrive in town, Bree’s history is about to come to light and she may just have to face her family!
I love this series as it interlaces humour so well with the storyline. The girls night out is hysterical, Granny steals the show I fear! The secondary story with Carter, the council and a certain human Liaison is bubbling away nicely and I’m going to enjoy watching that unfurl fully!
