Follows the stories of eight women from such nations as Pakistan, India, and China who have participated in underground worship and experienced persecution and hardship as a result of their Christian beliefs. Original.
“Hearts of Fire: Eight Women in the Underground Church and Their Stories of Costly Faith” is the story of eight women from such nations as Pakistan, India, and China who have participated in underground worship and experienced persecution and hardship as a result of their Christian beliefs.
*Warning* this is not an easy book to read and rightfully so. If we are ever to understand the strength of faith that these women have it is important to understand the evil that they had to endure.
Once I started reading it was difficult to put the book down, but at times it was necessary to walk away and absorb what I had just read and silently say a prayer for the world.
Hearts of Fire is both painfully sad and at the same time a beautiful testament to faith and the promise of God’s word.
The story of eight women who willing choose to be motivated to bring the joy of their faith to those around them even when faced with torture, loss of their families and/or imprisonment.
I remember once being asked during a rather heated discussion if things can be changed. I also remember not knowing what to say at that moment. Some time later I remembered the famous Times photo of the Monk who emulated himself in protest to the government oppression of his people and how a short 3 months later the oppressive regime was finally toppled.
It suddenly occurred to me why I didn’t know what to say. it was the wrong question to ask. These women didn’t ask if things could change, neither did many, many people of peace throughout history. The question they asked was “What am I willing to give to effect change for the better and in God’s name?”
A wonderful addition to any shelf for anyone of any faith, but it is also a wonderful addition to the shelf of anyone who can appreciate stories about strength of character and conviction of ones beliefs.

Persecution against Christians is very real, and VOM has taken eight incredible stories of courage and faith and distilled them into a message of hope. Each story touches the heart as you delve into the lives of eight different women from all walks of life and see their journeys of faith.
Each woman has encountered impossible odds to remain faithful to God, and He has been with them every step of the way. Through physical, mental, and emotional torture, He stands with them and strengthens them. No matter the situation, God refuses to let them be taken from Him, and He fills them with joy and hope amidst the despair.
A powerful book set across decades and countries, this is a great book to inspire faith and courage amongst those who will one day face their own time of suffering. Recommended for all who believe and need a reminder that God will always be with them. Join Voice of the Martyrs as they explore the lives of eight courageous women from around the world.

What amazing stories of God’s love and provision. These women exhibited astounding faith and devotion in the face of horrors and heartaches we in the US couldn’t possibly imagine. They are a shining example courage in times of persecution, of singleness in purpose, while those who persecuted them are examples of the horrible depravity of mankind.
One should not read this with the comforting fairy-tale thought that it couldn’t happen in America. One should read it as a shining example of what to do when it does.
