Alpha Men, Steamy Scenes, & Heart Pounding Romance, Heart’s Insanity has it all!Ash has it all: fame, fortune, and the adoration of screaming fans, but the constant parties and endless string of one-night stands have taken their toll. He’s tired of cheap women and meaningless sex. He wants something real and someone to hold on to. But how can he find a woman who sees the real him, instead of … find a woman who sees the real him, instead of the rock star he’s become?
His answer might lie with the sassy Dr. Summers. When sparks ignite between them, Ash is intrigued. When she has no idea who he is, he’s fascinated. When she runs following a little innocent flirting, he can’t resist. Ash is in full pursuit, because something tells him this woman is worth the chase.
There’s only one problem. When he catches her, the demons of her past might be too much for even a rock legend to handle.
Left me breathless! ~ Such a beautifully turbulent story.
Blew my expectations away!

Recommended Series Reading Order:
- Heart’s Insanity (book 1)
- Ashes to New (there’s debate as to whether to read this first or after Heart’s Insanity. Be Warned! Ashes to New is not a HEA. Instead, it’s a tale of survival, and I recommend it be read after Heart’s Insanity.)
- Hearts Desire (book 2)
- Hearts Collide (book 3)
- Hearts Divided (book 4)
- ANGEL FIRE is a series of standalone steamy romance novels following the hard rock band, Angel Fire, both in the studio and between the sheets. You’ll see cameos from characters in the other Angel Fire books.)

Hearts Insanity was my first Ellie Masters novel and what an introduction. I was hooked from start to finished as the author gave a story I really was not expecting. This is not your typical rockstar romance as there was more going on. This was insta-love at its finest but it was coupled with an underlying back story that will break your heart as the consequences continue to plague the characters to current day.
The characters were flawed but very well developed. I loved Ash and Skye. The rockstar and the doctor, totally different but as fate would have it perfect for each other. These two had so many things going against them on both sides yet you will be drawn to their story and will be rooting for them.Skye’s story will break your heart but the level of patience Ash showed her will make you love him so much more. Bean/Forrest was another amazing character who stood out for me in this novel and I really hope he gets his happy ending.
This novel was narrated by Amanda Stribling. She did an amazing job bringing life to these characters. Her voice was soft and clear and it was a pleasure listening to her.
Heart’s Insanity was a fantastic story and I greatly enjoyed it. I would highly recommend this page-turner to all lovers of rockstar romances.

Wow! My first Ellie Masters book and it won’t be the last. She had me intrigued from the first chapter and in love with Ash less than a minute into their drive. To handle such a dreadful backstory with an honesty that created a realm of compassion and trust. This book brought out so many of my favorite things about a book as it plays the movie in my head. I not only saw the scence laid out so vividly, but felt the warmth of their connection and the depth of her pain. Ash’s reactions were what created a space of trust.
The writing was exceptional! These characters had so much depth and grit with empathy and heart. My heart swelled. It broke. It caught strength in her strength. And boy did she have strength. I can admire a women who rises from the ashes and soars!.
Sometimes, when you put yourself back together after being shattered, some of the pieces may be missing, and some edges may be sharp, but the strength that is found along each of those fractures heal stronger than before.
I have mad respect for this authors ability to weave a wonderful story through rising from tragedy and never giving up on finding her self worth.
I love Rock Star Romances and this one was fantastic. It was full of emotions, I was thoroughly engrossed in the story. The characters were all interesting and I’m looking forward to the rest of the books in the series.
Skye works long shifts as an ER Dr, her morning ritual has her colliding with a handsome but some what pushy stranger.
Skye hasn’t had the best childhood ghosts from her past haunt her and she still struggles with triggers years later.
My heart ached for Skye for what’s she’s endured. I found myself instantly liking her and I love how she’s dedicated to helping the lives of others.
Ash is the lead singer for Angels Fire, he’s used to women falling at his feet and doing anything he asks.
That lifestyle suited him fine until he grew bored with easy and wanted more.
When he runs into a woman in a coffee shop who doesn’t automatically swoon over him he’s intrigued.
Ash is a great guy he’s hard not to like he’s funny and doesn’t try to be something he’s not nor does he deny his past. Yes he’s enjoyed all the perks of being a Rock Star but now he only wants one woman and he’s willing to do whatever it takes to keep her.
I loved the whirlwind romance between Ash and Skye. It was a very intense, absolutely crazy ride. But with such a beautiful connection between them, you can’t help but get swept away with their story.
I have to say my favourite character from this story was Bean. I loved how protective he is over Skye. This guy has his own set of Demons that plague him but he’s trying hard to overcome them.
My heart broke for him too and I really want him to get his own book in the series.
“Their lead singer’s voice wraps around you in so many layers of sinful goodness.”
Yeah, it was the guitar on the cover that got me. I don’t know why, but I have a crazy addiction to rocker romance with guitars on the cover, I can’t resist them. For that reason, this is my first Ellie Masters read. I found her by following the guitar, and I’m so glad that I did. I was expecting a lighthearted, predictable insta-love story with a little backstage action, but this was so much more…
Usually, it’s the rockstar with all the baggage. I’ve read my share of broken bad boy stories, and I love them. But, while Ash has had his share of problems when faced with too much of everything available to a rocker at the top of his career, he’s not out of control when he runs into Skye. He might be a little jaded, disillusioned by the fact that nobody seems to be able to see past his stage name, his guitar, and his money. He performs in front of thousands, but none of them really see him.
Skye has accepted her current status and she’s content. Maybe not deliriously happy, but content with her chosen career. It feels good to save lives and help people. When asked what made her want to be a physician she remembers a time in her past when someone needed her help and she didn’t know what to do. She would later push herself mercilessly through medical school to make sure she was never faced with that excruciating feeling of helplessness ever again. The many hours of study required all of her concentration and helped her to keep her mind focused on her future and away from her painful past. She liked the nonstop pace of being a busy ER Physician who worked twelve-hour shifts and then fell into bed in exhaustion afterward.
Neither Ash or Skye were looking for each other when they ended up in the same coffee shop one morning. Usually, she avoids confrontation, but he just happened to be the lucky recipient of her rare case of angered frustration and she let her snark loose on him and his whole band. She schooled them on their manners and showed a side of herself that very few have ever witnessed. The fact that she had no clue who they were was obvious and exactly what made her so intriguing to Ash.
As the author revealed Skye’s story to me gradually, peeling back a layer at a time, I became so invested that you couldn’t pry my Kindle out of my hands with a crowbar, or a candy bar. I was hooked. I was curious to know what happened to her to make her so devastatingly broken and believing she could not be fixed. I wanted to see if Ash would be the one to prove her wrong. When he came up with his crazy proposition I was fully onboard, supporting his efforts to convince her that he wasn’t just after sex, but “the bigger prize.” She’d been hurt so badly, damaged so deeply, that it was hard for her to trust. But who could resist a sexy rock star who admits that, “I’ve never been stood up until you. Never been denied until-shit, this is crazy, but what if I gave my word to keep my junk in my jeans?” Not me, that’s for sure!
What else can I say? I loved this story. It broke my heart and put it back together again. It had me #ChasingWaterfalls. It made me fall in love with more than just the main characters and I’m really hoping there will be future books that feature the other band members and especially one that will give Skye’s brother the HEA he deserves. Regardless, I’ve found a new author to follow. Her writing is so smooth I forgot I was reading and just started feeling. I’ll definitely be looking out for whatever she has for her readers next. The line forms here…
WOW!! This is a story that will have you ignoring the “real” world until you get to the very last page! So be warned, only start this is you have no plans for the next few hours!
With characters that are beautifully written, a storyline that flows smoothly, and heartbreaking backstories you really will be on an emotional rollercoaster with this book
I am not usually into rocker romance, but this one blew me away. It did have many dark story lines but it just made the story grittier. I can’t wait to read the rest of the series.
I originally read the first two of the Captive Hearts series and then came back to the Angel Fire series. Not your ordinary rock star romance. Again, another Masters book that I couldn’t put down.
Rocker Ash And ER doctor Skye’s Story Is Sweet Yet Emotionally Charged As Skye’s Painful Past Is An Unavoidable Obstacle To The Couple’s Happiness. Don’t Forget To Download The Free Prequel!
This is book one of the Angel Fire Rock Romance series, a four book series about the hugely successful rock band Angel Fire. It reads as a stand-alone. There is a free prequel available via a download link within this book; Ashes to New gives the tragic background story of Skye Summers and her foster brother Forest. Forest plays an important role in this story and goes on to play an important role in the Captive Hearts series, a three part series ending in Forest’s own story.
Angel Fire is one of the biggest rock bands around. The band nearly broke up a few years back when drugs and addiction became a problem, but after some rehab and a sobriety pledge, they have continued on stronger than ever. Lead singer and guitarist Blaze has been friends since high school with Bash, who plays drums. Spike plays guitar and happens to be covered in piercings. Bent, who has a mop of curly black hair, plays bass. Noodles, tall and lanky, plays on keyboards and stands out with his tribal tats. Although the men have settled down in comparison to their earlier years, they continue to be a rowdy bunch. They fight like brothers and enjoy the pleasures offered by scores of groupies.
Ash Dean, a.k.a. Blaze of Angel Fire, wears a dragon tattoo on his neck that hadn’t gone over well with his minister father and elementary school teacher mother. The youngest of five, he didn’t follow the traditional path the his older brothers and sisters chose. He got his GED and left home to pursue his musical career at age seventeen. At twenty-eight, he has achieved great success, but not without a price. His addiction nearly broke up the band, but he has been clean for years now. He has had more than his share of women, but the novelty has worn off. He is waiting to find that elusive “one” that his father told him about. It was how his father knew he would marry his mother when they met.
Skye Summers, probably twenty-seven, has worked hard to become an ER doctor, graduating early from high school and entering an accelerated six year medical program. It has kept her busy, which is why she does it. Working is her way to self medicate. She also avoids conflict. Her childhood was robbed from her by her foster father, and although she knows she needs therapy, she hasn’t had time to slow down for it yet. Somehow she managed to snag Spencer McAdams three years ago. She is engaged to the successfull lawyer, and when things don’t seem right in their relationship he always manages to convince her that it is her fault, on account of her history and the triggers that plague her. She has a hard time disagreeing, but Spencer might have just gone too far this time.
When Skye runs into a rowdy bunch of men at her favorite coffee shop, her patience with men is at an end and she snaps, no longer capable of being complacent. She chews the bunch out for their poor manners and promptly exits, in a hurry to get to work. When Ash sees Skye, he is drawn to her. She really gets his attention when she doesn’t hesitate to give him an earful of her opinion of him. She doesn’t appear to recognize him, which is a novelty. She sees him – Ash – not Blaze of Angel Fire. He knows then that she is the one, and he won’t let her go.
Ash and Skye’s story is sweet yet emotionally charged as Skye’s painful past is an unavoidable obstacle to the couple’s happiness. Skye reluctantly allows a persistent Ash to enter her life. The pair grow closer, but Ash’s identity as a rock star and the nature of Skye’s history threaten to put a prompt halt to the blossoming romance. Ash is patient and steadfast in his pursuit of Skye. His dedication is adorable. The world seems to conspire against the couple, as Skye’s uncertainty is tested by Spencer, her brother, the band, and the public. The couple earns their happy ending.
Some might be initially turned off by Skye’s weakness, which is sometimes hard to read about. However, as the story unfolds and context is given, Skye transforms in a survivor, someone willing to fight back, but whose experience in life hasn’t given her sound judgement or self confidence. She isn’t normal, so she questions herself and is vulnerable to manipulation in a relationship. Ash is wonderfully supportive of her and she is able to begin on the road to recovery under his loving devotion.
Ash and Skye’s story is sweet and steamy, but Skye’s dark past is a threat to their happiness. Their story is well-written. The plot is somewhat complex. The characters are carefully crafted. The story is written in third person. It is told in Skye’s POV with the exception of the epilogue, which is told in Ash’s POV. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
It is truly insanity, to fall for “the one” in under three days. Skye balls out a bunch of guys in a coffee shop for not letting some older ladies have the seats instead of them. She’s on a roll, she flies out of the store and this one guy follows her. She starts to panic but he’s only returning her backpack that she left behind at the coffee shop. One explosive encounter at her work and all it takes is one kiss. They judge each other without having all the facts and trust is a real big issue for both of them. There are various threats in this story and it will take more than the two of them to figure it out. Forest starts to shine in this book. I recommend this book and this series. I’ve already read the next chapter, Heart’s Desire. You’ll love it.
I was so excited to see Skye get her story and I had to laugh out loud several times due to Ash and his lighter side of life. LOVED the coffee shop scene! I didn’t care for Spencer at all. I was so happy for the brother/sister bond for Forest (Bean) and Skye to still be evident years later! Now the hard part to admit (and I was home alone), is that I was yelling at Skye to “do it again”! Now you have to read this captivating story to figure out where I was at and why I yelled out “YES”! Author Ellie Master definitely keeps the reader’s interest and wanting more!
This is the first book I’ve read by Ellie Masters. It’s the first book in the Angel Fire Rock Romance series, but it does stand alone. Warning: This book deals with some very sensitive abuse topics and is pretty explicit.
I really liked the characters even though I found many, many of their actions to be unbelievable, or at least not logical. Lucky for me (and the author), stories don’t have to have logical characters for me to enjoy them. It’s fiction, just go with it. Overall, I did like the book and I would be interested in listening to/reading the next in the series.
I listened to the Audible version. Amanda Stribling does a great job with her performance, though as far as the recording itself, I did notice an echo at the end of some of the chapters.

I loved this Love-At-First-Sight story of Skye Summers and Ash “Blaze” Dean. A chance meeting in a coffee shop gives Ash all the time he needs to feel a connection and know he has to get to know the firecracker who put him and his friends in their place.
Skye is sassy and stands her ground against Ash but she also has secrets; a traumatic childhood had left her with a past she is hiding and PTSD. She doesn’t believe in fate but Ash on the other hand does and he is looking for a lasting love. Their lives couldn’t be farther apart but when you meet “the one,” you do whatever is necessary to make it. Ash “Blaze” Dean has secrets of his own, but meeting Skye has been a breath of fresh air and he makes some impulsive decisions to spend more time with her.
I really enjoyed their whirlwind, adventurous love affair. Ash’s flirtatious determination to get Skye to consider a relationship with him was sweet and lovable. I couldn’t help but root for him to succeed. The Canadian connection to the story also made me feel right at home.
Author Ellie Masters has begun a winning series with interesting characters with intriguing pasts. The ending of this story had me on the edge of my seat stressing out on what would happen next.
I also enjoyed the audiobook of Heart’s Insanity. Narrator Amanda Stribling did an excellent job of bringing the characters to life. I loved her voice and would definitely listen to more books read by her.
This book has so much depth I emotions that will leave you drained, but in the beat way possible. The inner strength that has to be present in two of these characters is amazing and the bonds are so strong that nothing will be able to pull them apart. I loved this book and can only hope the series continues with just as an amazing read as this one.
Ellie Masters is a new to me author, and normally I don’t get into band/rockstar reads but I did enjoy this one. The writing was well done, and the story grabbed my attention from the very beginning and didn’t disappoint.
I enjoyed the narration by Amanda Stribling, her performances are always well done and easy to listen to. I felt that this particular book would have been better with a second narrator to do the male POV.

I loved everything about this story. A doctor with an abusive past and a rockstar with a loveless past create a love song to beat all love songs. Ash is a typical rockstar, but he wants true love. He is so hesitant to trust. I love how he falls for Skye but keeps her at arm’s distance. It brought reality into this romance. Skye’s abuse is heard to read about. It is gut wrenching. But she is stronger than her past and makes a wonderful doctor. Her trust of men is not there, except for her brother. I adored the relationship Bean and Skye share. They would do anything for each other, even fight a favorite rockstar. This story has some real issues faced by some and twists the past into a beautiful future.
Amanda Stirling narrated this story. She has an easy to listen to voice. Ms. Stirling’s ability to separate each character and narrate both make and female voices is superb. Ms. Stirling brought this story off the pages and into a movie in my mind. I really enjoyed her narration.
I loved this book, it was heartwarming and different and sad all at the same time. Two people so different fall in love at first sight and yet are able to sustain that love. Ash is so patient with Skye and helps her on her road or recovery as well as helping her ‘brother’ Forrest. Skye fights her love and her ex fiancé but knows that it is inevitable that she will stay with Ash. She is so strong and wants to be complete and the ending is fantastic. There is no sugar coating, it is a hard road but Ellie Masters deals with with compassion and sensitivity.
Wow, what an amazing read. I could not put this book down. I fell in love with Bean, Skye, and Ash. This book broke my heart and also made me angry. Recommend. Can’t wait to read the next book.
Wow. Love this book. The connection between Skye and Ash is electrifying. Skye caught Spencer in bed with another women because she Skye could not give him what he said h needed but that was due to her past. I will not go any further about the story so you can read and enjoy and it is an HEA. Enjoy
This was my first Ellie Masters’s book, and won’t be my last! Heart’s Insanity is the first book in the An Angel Fire Rock Romance Series. This isn’t the usual rockstar romance. It’s so much more! I love Sky and Ash’s story. Sky is such a strong and beautiful character! Her story is heartbreaking. Ash is handsome, and so protective with her, and I love how he wins her confidence. The secondary characters are also great. This is a beautiful story, and I totally recommend it. Now, I can’t wait for the next book in the Series, Heart’s Desire, and I would love to read Ashes to New, Elsbeth and Forest’s story, and the prequel to this Series! Amanda Stribling did a great job with the narration. She has a beautiful voice. #AudiobookObsession
They say everyone has a soulmate Ash Dean the lead singer in the rock band Angel Fire found his in a coffee shop, now he has to prove to the extremely broken Skye Summers that heals others, that she can be healed to.
This story is a testimony to how love, patience and understanding can heal a soul and make it whole again.
This is a wonderful story by author Ellie Masters and told beautifully by Amanda Stribling.
