HEARTS DIVINE is the second book in bestselling author Catherine Wiltcher’s dark and thrilling Santiago Trilogy.“I’m totally blown away… An intense, dark and twisted story that will send you on a wild and crazy ride of emotions” – Beyond The Covers BlogEveThe FBI is forcing me apart from the man who haunts my dreams. The man who stole me, broke me and made me his forever. Dante Santiago. My … and made me his forever.
Dante Santiago.
My deepest, darkest secret.
I may be ignorant to the worst of his savagery, to the tortured history that has driven the heartless criminal to such extremes, but I know exactly how his body feels as it sinks slowly into mine – stretching, conquering, completing. I know every hard angle, every dark trail of hair; every smooth, olive-hued plane as he molds himself to me like second skin.
The man I will never ever betray.
Dante
Six months apart.
An eternity.
I swore an oath to stay away and keep her safe.
Together we wiped my past from the face of this earth but another rose up in his place. An enemy more deadly, more determined. One who will stop at nothing to destroy me.
Damn this half-life that I’m forced to endure without her.
I run the risk of exposing her if I return.
I will lose myself to this darkness if I refuse.

Wow! I love book 2 of The Santiago Trilogy. Not sure if I liked it better than Hearts of Darkness. They are both great.
I’m really enjoying the story of Dante and Eve. It’s getting more deep and complicated and they are learning important facts about each other in this second book. I liked a lot all the characters in this book. Joseph is awesome and even Rick Sanders, Petrov and Anna are cool.
I love dark romance and this story is very well written. There’re a lot of intense moments between Dante and Eve. Very steamy scenes and the plot is so intereting!
I’m definitely reading book 3 and Grayson’ books.
The Devil and his Angel return and are as combustible as always. Eve finds herself pulled deeper into Dante’s world and a revelation threatens to rip them apart forever. Absolutely brilliant series and I am counting the days until part 3 of the trilogy is released in May. Highly recommended!
GAAH…this BOOK! I am in love with this trilogy…IN. LOVE. WITH. IT. And that is saying something since I am in no way a fan of one couple’s story being dragged out over several books. But this author can write like nobody’s business. Add in the fact that we have gotten two fantastic books with ZERO other women drama (I am sure the last will be the same), and I plan on #fangirling the SH!T out of this trilogy! (lol)
Book two starts up right where we left off with Eve and Dante having been separated for six months. Luckily for us readers, we don’t have long to wait until a happy reunion takes place. However, things aren’t all smooth sailing for this couple as Dante continues not to win any personality awards with his surly and often hurtful attitude. Alas, Eve isn’t a pushover which makes for some great acrimonious scenes. Not to mention, some smokin’ hot sex scenes which are plentiful and will set you tablet on fire.
Of course, the romance isn’t the only thing this has going for it. There is a continuing sex slavery storyline that brings in a lot of new (and exciting) characters, along with secrets, heartbreak, and betrayals. Last, this all wraps up in yet another whopper of a cliffhanger that left me biting my nails; I SO need book three NOW.
So yea, nothing much left to say. I love it. I recommend it.
I was as hooked on this book as i was with the first… the explosive relationship leaves you riding an emotional rollercoaster. I loved this book and recommend it fully!!! This book keeps up it’s pace and does not let down
Hearts Divine
The Santiago Trilogy, Book 2
By: Catherine Wiltcher
Narrated by: JF Harding, Sarah Puckett
Catherine Wiltcher continues to have me on the edge as book 2 of the Santiago Trilogy continues. Eve is left home, having to be harassed by the FBI as they try to pull out information about Dante from her. There is not way she would ever give them anything, but that does not stop the interrogation. Constantly followed, she is off to accept an award where she is kidnapped. Who would do such a thing? Yes, a smile came to my face when Dante once again has taken her. He is risking his own plans as his obsession with Eve has taken him over. But how will she feel about this? Will she be happy to be back with him? Will he be able to rebuild his empire and find the revenge is is seeking? And how will Eve fit into it all? There are so many complexities and layers in this story, and we are taken on a roller coaster of suspense, emotions and surprises we don’t see coming! I am enthralled with this trilogy, and the cliffhanger just left me on the edge! I can’t wait for the conclusion of their story and see exactly what is revealed in the end.
JF Harding and Sarah Puckett continue their amazing narration of this series. Harding is a favorite of mine and he plays the antihero so well. Dante is a complex character and each layer of this man is emulated perfectly. He’s not overly emotional, but you can hear it in Harding’s voice exactly how he feels. Puckett always gives me the perfect amount of angst without going overboard. I love their performance.

Well, I couldn’t possibly imagine how a second book could be as good as what the first in this series was but I’m now sitting here in shock. It was even better than the first book!
Dante and Eve crave each other as much as they need oxygen to breathe. Dante is as professional and calculated as he always has been but Eve seems to be his weakness. She makes him act before he thinks. Eve is torn between her freedom and what her heart really wants. They both have their inner demons trying to claw their way out but together somehow find a way to continue fighting them.
Everything in this sequel was heightened. Deeper emotions and darker content and many questions answered. It’s a heart wrenching rollercoaster that had me glued to the pages for hours. Definitely a nail biter and now I must read the next book because I’m dying to know what happens. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.
5 Stars or as many as I can give

Ok, I am gonna start with this. I am a southern momma with two teenage boys, a husband, and a daughter, and one major rule in our house is to NOT BURN THE BACON!! AND I BURNED THE BACON tonight! Seriously, people, I burnt a large pack of bacon. I could not put down this book. I swear only five maybe six minutes passed while I was reading (actually maybe 20). With that being said, Holy Hot Sticks, I am freaking IN LOVE!!
This is dirty, dark and I mean dark, series. This is not your sweet, passionate love story. This is raw, deep down in your soul passion and then add the organized crime element and it makes this one of the best series I have read. It is not a quick, little or easy weekend read. The Santiago Series by Catherine Wiltcher will consume your life until it is done with you. But when you hit that last page, you are lost because you don’t know what to do next. Where is Dante? What am I supposed to do now? Can I just go back to his island? Joseph? Anyone? Bueller???
Dante Santiago is freaking vicious but dangit, he is hot as Hades. That man is the epitome of an organized crime king. The devil himself. But even the devil has a heart, right?
Ok, it just hit me. Dante and Eve = the devil and the first woman. Brillant! Oh, and Eve gives as good and she gets. She is a sharp-tongued woman who does not take anything from anyone. She walks, well rather is kidnapped and forced into Dante’s world but she comes out of it his Queen. One scene you will read will make you holler to put a crown on that woman’s head. She just brought the devil to his knees! Just go ahead and give it to her. Read book three and you will know what I am talking about. HOT!
I normally don’t share quotes from books I have read but I have to share this one. This one is it for me. I will always keep this one written down.
“Find me in the darkness”, I gasp, breaking for breath. “Find my light and let me guide you.” He looks at me as if I’ve said the strangest thing, like I’ve opened up his chest and exposed his most private inner thoughts. “Love me and never stop,”
For the first time in my life, I have swooned. I don’t know whether to melt in a pile of goo or cry.
I received all three of the Santiago series at once so I dived right in thinking it would be an easy weekend read. Well nope. I am speechless. The first chapter starts out running and does not stop. There is not a lull anywhere in these books so there is no skimming, anywhere. Please do not tell me there are no more books to this series. I need to know more. Joseph and Anna. Dig more into Eve’s family. Uh, the path Joseph and Dante are talking about taking?? I am freaking addicted, any book that Catherine Wiltcher writes will be in my library the second I get this posted.
Hearts Divine is a continuation of Dante and Eve’s story. You have to read the first book, or you will have no idea what is going on.
Dante and Eve are in a horrible situation, and it makes you want to jump into the book and hold both of them individually because you know they are both hurting. Dante is trying so hard to keep his life together, but the past is something he refuses to give up, and he wants to fix his mistakes. But he refuses to let Eve walk that path with him.
Eve is living her life again slowly. She loves and misses Dante every day. But without him in her life and having no way of getting a hold of him what else can she do. Just when things start looking up, life twists you again.
Catherine brings twists and turns to life in such a way that you do not want to put this book down. You want redemption for Dante and Eve to go into the dark with him. These two will walk a path nobody else could. And the secondary characters are excellent extra.
This is the second book in the series. This one continues the story of Dante and Eve. So yes you will need to read the first one before reading this one. This one starts a few months from where the first one left us. Eve and Dante have been apart due to several reasons. But their time apart is coming to an end danger or not. This was an intense, edgy, and sexy storyline. The ending I wanted to throw my kindle. This one I have to say was better than the first one and the first one was freaking amazing. We watch Eve dealing with the fallout from what she has done while coming to terms with life without Dante. But at the same time we watch Eve go through new and painful secrets that come to life that end up tearing up her world even more. Catherine did an amazing job writing Dante’s character. I absolutely love reading about him. He has a cold and brute side but at the same time he has the damaged side that wrestles with his feelings of guilt. Eve was his light to his darkness. I cant wait to see what happens with these two in book three. Catherine has me in so deep with these characters after this book I have to know what happens
Eve and Dante’s hearts are one, but they find themselves apart from each other. Now they have to find their way back to each other, but there are so many obstacles in the way.
Eve will let anyone take Dante from her heart, now she will work as hard as she can to find the answers she needs and her way back into Dante’s arms.
The only bad thing about this book is that the next one isn’t out for another two months. I could cry. I am a book binger, and didn’t check to make sure everything was out before I started the series. Shame on me.
That said, I am enamored with this series so far. Suspense. Drama. Back and forth angst. A dominant alpha man who doesnt allow himself to feel. Mystery. Good supporting characters. Scary villains. Action. Love. Hot sexy times.
I have so many questions for the third book! I need answers! I need more Dante! I need more Joseph! I NEED the third book!
If you like kidnapping stories… stories of obsession… stories with hot men of organized crime… then this series is for you! Fans of Anna Zaires’ series and Mia Knight’s Crime Lord series in particular will probably be fans. I stumbled upon this series from a suggestion in a Facebook comment in a reader group, and I couldn’t be more pleased! I don’t know how or why this series doesn’t have 10x more reviews because it is amazing.
Do yourself a favor and read this one!
Recommended!
OMG this great read continues and just gets better and better! I’m hooked! This is book 2 in the series (book one is Hearts of Darkness), and it’s as good as the first one. This book starts out with Dante and Eve apart now for months but are trying to reunite, despite the inherent dangers of doing so. The book is so well written, the characters so well developed…it’s exciting to read and makes me impatient for the final installment of this series. Don’t miss out on this wonderful story. If you like mafia romance, this trilogy is one you can’t miss.
This story resumes beautifully where HoD ended. This story is a lot more angsty than book one. Things have changed. Dante and Eve have evolved in ways that you must read to believe! Read book one FIRST. I love this couple so hard. This story is filled with drama, drama, and more DRAMA! Start this trilogy today. You won’t regret it!
4.5 stars
This book couldn’t come soon enough after I read the first one. I love the dynamic between Dante and eve. He bulldozers her in the accepting his will, but eve gives him hope for the light to penetrate his darkness.
Darkness defends further into their love affair which has lasting consequences.
Amazing dark romance which I can’t get enough of.
Stop This is the second book in a trilogy it is not a standalone
I was not really sure about Eve in book one but wow does she redeem herself in book two. After choosing to walk away from Dante shes find herself reconsidering all the whys? and even a couple of the whos that led her to that decision.
Dante is still an arse possibly even more so events occur that could push Dante into the abyss forever birthing a monster who takes no prisoners – lacks the ability to reason and blinding the man within to the pain he is inflicting on those closest to him
Some of the secondary characters move forward in book two becoming intricate parts of the storyline, we are also introduced to some antagonist that almost rival Dante’s darkness
Hearts Divine spent a bit more time filling in the missing pieces to Dante’s past – there are a couple scenes were we are flashed back to Dante’s childhood and WOW I think I would be a heartless monster as well
It also uncovers some secrets that will have you going back to book one and seeing if you somehow missed the clues – I was seriously surprised at the sharp turn the storyline took
This ends on a bit of a cliffy – let us be honest now that is how a trilogy works
What a great book!!!!
I couldn’t put it down.
Catherine did it again… She wrote such a wonderful book. Dante… My hero you just can’t help yourself but fall in love with him. I loved the chapters from his past, they gave a glimps to his soul, his behaviour. And Eve.. her character is growing and developing as the book progresses. The plot is wonderful, and i like the shift in Dante’s profession to a “vigilant” who fights human trafficking.
Oh… and there are HOT sex scenes! I can not wait to read the last installment of this series, as this book ended in an epic way.
This one is a must read.. enjoy!
I received an ARC for an honest review. I’ve been waiting for book 2 and Catherine did not disappoint. Exceptionally dark, suspenseful and gritty read. Not to mention, it was HOT. Can’t wait for 3rd installment.
4.5 Stars
Eve Miller was kidnapped but will not release any information on who held her captive. Now she struggles to go on with her everyday life as her heart remains with the man who captured her.
Dante Santiago is a killer and on top of the FBI’s most wanted list. He let the love of his life go but he vows to protect her from any danger that she comes upon.
But what happens if he is the danger and wants her back and needs to keep her safe from a man even more dangerous than he is?
This is the second book in the series and unfortunately, I did not read the first one. That being said I know I missed a lot of pertinent information but the book grips you and you get involved right away.
I thought Eve was a super interesting character as it was obvious she was extremely intellectual and a reporter so she liked to ask a lot of questions and was super good at challenging people when she needed to. I loved how she stayed true to herself and kept all her information close to her and never revealed anything to Detective Peters.
I liked Dante but you could tell he was struggling a lot and there were a few times that I was so mad at him for his actions, once with Eve and then with Joseph later. I liked that even though Dante was dangerous he also had a conscience which we saw more and more as the book went on.
The chemistry between Eve and Dante was through the roof and intense. They had something real but both were afraid of losing the other as well which made them do some stupid things.
The twists and turns and secrets involving other characters were intense and kept me wondering what was going to happen next. I was never quite sure whose side a few of them were on but I was shocked at certain things began to fall into place.
The ending was shocking and I was very proud of Eve. I can’t believe where the end left us and I am looking forward to the next book! – By Rebecca
A story written with a poetic voice that not only eludes to the darkness and demons these characters are fighting against, but those within themselves as well. Catherine has a way of holding her audience captive with the beautiful, dark monsters she has created that will completely consume you from the very first page.
Devastating secrets revealing themselves from where book one ends, has Dante, once a ruthless, cold blooded killer, only motivated by money and power, embarking on a different agenda – seeking justice.
With the light and influence of his White Angel, Eve, by his side, Dante is beginning to do and see things differently for the first time since he was a boy…
But, when a heartbreaking and surprising truth is revealed, it sends shockwaves rippling through all those involved, threatening to obliterate everything Dante and Eve have come to build together.
So, can a man with so much darkness really change? More importantly, can a woman’s love motivate a man to let his protective guard down and really begin to live and love again with so much hatred and darkness still left inside?
This intoxicating story will keep you gripped and you too will want to seek answers and justice for all of those involved.
As Always, Happy Reading!
“5/5 Beaming Brains!” – Lit-Up My Mind
Book 2 picks up about six months after the events at the end of book 1. Dante and Eve, while having no contact, continue to fight through the depths of their connection despite the distance, trying to live their lives each looking to protect the other. Eve is dealing with the FBI, as they continually question her regarding Dante and her time with him, and his current whereabouts. Dante, meanwhile, has shifted his focus, building alliances to help him on a new mission dedicated to avenging the death of his young daughter. But fate doesn’t intend to keep Dante and Eve apart for long, and as their paths cross again, Dante is unable to resist the pull.
The chemistry and passion between Dante and Eve is off the charts. Their connection is deep and powerful. But one shocking and devastating piece of information shatters their worlds, and forces dangerous decisions, and even more dangerous alliances to form. The ultimate culmination of their choices and decisions opens the floodgates of emotions for both of them, and sets the world on fire at their feet. As we head into book three, it’s clear that the levels they’re willing to go to for each other have no bounds, and they will burn everything down. The tension and passion continue to grow, and you just know the next book is going to be intense.
