Book Description:
TSgt Ryker Lyons is an elite member of a six-man Special Ops Surgical Team, well five men and one vexing woman. Major Tia Myers is fierce, competent, utterly breathtaking, and completely immune to his charms. Teammates, buddies, perhaps reluctant friends, they’re saving lives on the battlefield. Ryker should leave it at that, but the raven-haired beauty has him risking everything to prove he’s exactly the man she needs.
When the mega rock band Angel Fire arrives on a USO tour, Ryker is given an opportunity to fulfill a lifelong dream, but it comes at a cost. He must choose between the music stirring his soul or the woman who’s stolen his heart.
The stakes are high, careers are at risk, but failure isn’t an option. Ryker won’t walk away from the music, and certainly not from the woman invading his dreams. He’s a man who gets what he wants and Tia belongs to him.
Recommended Series Reading Order:
- Heart’s Insanity (book 1)
- Ashes to New (there’s debate as to whether to read this first or after Heart’s Insanity. Ashes to New is not a HEA, but rather a tale of survival.)
- Hearts Desire (book 2)
- Hearts Collide (book 3)
- Hearts Divided (book 4)
- (each book in this series can be read as a standalone and is about a different couple and their HEA.)

Ahhhh, I loved getting back with Angel Fire!
This one is another great story that combines a Military book with a Rockstar book.
We are deep in Afghanistan with a special medical team, traveling to remote sites to treat wounded soldiers. It’s on this team that we meet T and Ryker. Tia (T) is an officer and Ryker is an enlisted man. The Military frowns upon these two forming any type of relationship.
When Tia gets a devastating email, it’s when her eyes finally open to how much Ryker truly does care for her. The military is going to be a career for her so she knows she should stay away…
Just when Tia needs more support, the best possible thing happens!!!
Angel Fire is touring with the USO doing concerts. There is nothing better than enjoying your friends and your bestfriend Skye when you are feeling down.
Ryker is known to Tia as the base playboy. Whenever they are not in the field, he is playing the field. But what Tia doesn’t know is Ryker has had feelings for her since the day they landed for their first mission.
When Angel Fire is on the base, Ryker gets a chance to open up and shock everyone. Up on stage he is a different person, lets the guitar express his feelings. Boy what a lot of pent up feelings he carries.
Loved all the songs mentioned in this book! Brought back some awesome memories. The switch between military and rock and roll was a great mixture! Story was engaging and flowed at a good pace. Can’t wait to read more from the Angel Fire boys!!!

This book was even better than Hearts Insanity for me. I loved that book but this one just has the edge. It has Rocks Stars and Military Special Ops……I mean come on, could there be a more perfect combination?
God Damn Ryker!!! That guy had me seriously hyperventilating he has such a commanding, protective and dominant presence.
I’m telling you Ryker has talents both in the field and off it. He is Hott as fxxk.
Then to top it all off the guys a bloody fantastic Bass player too. He’s the all round package and then some.
We get lots of interaction from Angels Fire too, our favourite Rockers are doing a few gigs at the Military base and Ryker gets a chance to play with the guys. It’s a dream come true for him. Music is one of his passions but so is Tia he has his sights set on both one comes easy the other could cost him dearly.
I absolutely loved Tia she’s a kickass female who more than holds her own with the guys on her team. She’s one tough cookie and I have massive respect for her. I love strong women in books and Tia has balls big enough to rival any man.
Tia and Ryker work together side by side, there’s always been a mutual attraction but neither has acted on it. Not only because of their jobs but other circumstances too.
When things change Ryker sees his chance and can’t deny his feelings for Tia, he wants her and won’t let anyone else take what belongs to him.
These two have serious chemistry I was completely captivated by them. Their story is a seductive and dangerous combination but it was utterly thrilling and I loved every minute.
I can’t wait to see what’s in store next in this series. I’m addicted and already have Hearts Collide on Pre – Order. Ellie Masters has herself a new fangirl if she writes it I’ll read it.
I’m excited to see the rest of the Angels Fire guys get their stories because they’re all awesome and hilarious I adore the bond they’ve all got together.
Forest is still my favourite he intrigues me no end. I’ve had a place in my heart for this giant of a man from the moment I met him. It’s only growing the more I find out about him. I seriously have to have his book because this guy deserves everything. I’ve a feeling we’ve only scratched the surface where Forest is concerned.
Wow! My first time reading this author. I had no idea what to expect. I won a copy of this book in a random draw. So glad I did! I did not read the first book in this series, but I think that was ok. I’d like to read it now though! As for this book, it was really, really enjoyable to read. The characters jumped off the pages and stole your heart, mind and imagination. The story was exciting, believable, and extremely well-written by this author, putting the reader right there in the action. And lots of action there was–Special Ops missions, rock concerts, and hot, steamy sex–this book had it all! The two main characters, Tia and Ryker, are quite the combustible couple. Tia is the perfect, powerful, kickass woman to go toe-to-toe with Alpha Male Ryker. I LOVED them! Grab yourself a copy of Heart’s Desire and enjoy!
Fantastic mix of military and rock ‘n’ roll and of course romance. Definitely recommend.
Ryker And Tia’s Military Romance Feels Authentic, Taking The Reader On Location In Afghanistan Along With The Characters! When Tia’s Friends Forest And Skye Show Up On Post With Rock Band Angel Fire, Things Get Complicated.
This is book two of the Angel Fire Rock Romance series, a four book series about the hugely successful rock band Angel Fire. It reads as a stand-alone. A prequel, Ashes to New, gives the tragic background story of Skye Summers and her foster brother Forest. Forest plays an important role in this series and goes on to play an important role in the Captive Hearts series, a three part series ending in Forest’s own story.
Angel Fire is one of the biggest rock bands around. The band nearly broke up a few years back when drugs and addiction became a problem, but after some rehab and a sobriety pledge, the band has continued on stronger than ever. Lead singer and guitar player Blaze has been friends since high school with Bash, who plays drums. Spike plays guitar and happens to be covered in piercings. Bent, who has a mop of curly black hair, plays bass. Noodles, tall and lanky, plays on keyboards and stands out with his tribal tats. Although the men have settled down in comparison to their earlier years, they continue to be a rowdy bunch. They fight like brothers and enjoy the pleasures offered by scores of groupies.
In book one, Ash Dean, a.k.a. Blaze of Angel Fire, wears a dragon tattoo on his neck that hadn’t gone over well with his minister father and elementary school teacher mother. At twenty-eight, he has achieved great success, but not without a price. His addiction nearly broke up the band, but he has been clean for years now. He has had more than his share of women over the years, but the novelty has worn off. He is waiting to find that elusive “one” that his father told him about. Skye Summers, probably twenty-seven, has worked hard to become an ER doctor, graduating early from high school and entering an accelerated six year medical program. It has kept her busy, which is why she does it. Working is her way to self medicate. She also avoids conflict. Her childhood was robbed from her by her foster father, and although she knows she needs therapy, she hasn’t had time to slow down for it yet. Rocker Ash and ER doctor Skye’s story is emotionally charged as Skye’s painful past becomes an unavoidable obstacle to the couple’s happiness, yet their story is also tender and sweet as Ash, with infinite patience, never gives up on Skye, who sees him as Ash, not as Blaze, his rock star persona.
Book two is a military romance that takes place almost entirely in Afghanistan. It almost reads as a spin-off, as the band itself plays more of a supporting role in the story. Skye and Forest appear as well.
Major Tia Meyers, or T, is probably in her mid-twenties and the only female on her six member Air Force Special Ops surgical team. The team saves lives on the front lines and prepares the injured for transport back to Bagram. She has one month left on her deployment and another year on her commitment, but she loves what she does and plans to make it her career. It is tough to be a woman in her position, surrounded by alpha males, but she worked hard, beating out other men to earn it. Tia attributes her success to Forest and Skye Summers. Forest saved Tia from a bad foster home as a teen. After later becoming a nurse, she worked with Skye in DC before followed Skye’s advice and going back to school to become a CRNA, or Certified Registered Nurse Anesthetist. The military’s loan forgiveness program caught her attention afterward, and a few years have passed since she last saw Forest.
Technical Sergeant Ryker Lyons turns heads with his good looks and arrogant, bad boy attitude. At about thirty, He has no trouble finding a woman to bed when the team is on post, yet there is just one woman he really wants, and she is out of reach. As the respiratory technician on the Air Force Special Ops surgical team, he works closely with T. She is perfect, but fraternization rules prevent him, an enlisted airman, from pursuing anything with T, who is an officer. If caught, they risked their careers and possible jail time. There was also the issue of her fiance. But when time and distance lead to heartbreak for T, who desperately wants to find a rebound man, all bets are off. Ryker won’t let her make that mistake with anyone but him.
Ryker and T risk everything on love in this exciting military romance. When Tia’s friends Forest and Skye show up on post with Angel Fire, things get complicated. Their surprise USO tour is great for morale, and as a bonus Forest works his magic to get Lieutenant Colonel Vane to allow Tia and Ryker to accompany them on tour. In the end the couple gets their happy ending.
Ryker and Tia’s story feels authentic, taking the reader on location along with the characters. Their story is well-written. The plot is somewhat complex. The characters feel real, although their history lacks depth. I wanted to hear about Tia’s youth and a little more of Ryker’s story prior to enlisting. Something held him back musically, but it is never explored. His experience with Angel Fire, though, is beautifully written in great detail. The story is written in third person. The POV alternates between Ryker and Tia. I rate this book 4.5 stars.
Intense! The one word description for “Heart’s Desire”. The Aphganistan theater was intense. Collin’s special ops team was intense. The spark between Ryker and Tia was intense and then some. Author Ellie Masters did an amazing job with a rock group series and a military story all in one book! It was great and way better than how I thought the story would go! And I loved that Forest and Skye were interspersed throughout! I can’t read this series fast enough!
Fantastic Story & Audible Listen A Rocking Military Romance! Captivating & Heartfelt!
Heart’s Desire
A Rock Star Romance (Angel Fire, Book 2)
By: Ellie Masters
Narrated by: Josh Mickley
I love everything about this book, from Ellie Masters wonderful writing style to the interesting storylines and characters she created. lThe characters are likable, realistic and easy to relate to. I adored both leads, they are both part of a Special Ops Surgical Team saving injured troops out in the deserts of Afghanistan. Tia Myers is a Major and Ryker Lyons is a Technical Sergeant, he is attracted to Tia but she is the constant professional and feel the same way. After a rescue mission they returned to Bagram Airbase to re-supply. Tia runs into her friend Forrest, who is there because “Angel Fire” will be performing for the troops. Forrest appeared in the 1st book, he is Skye’s foster brother, Tia and Skye are good friends. A lot of great things happen for Ryker while in Bagram, he lets Tia know how he feels, makes progress pursuing her and he gets to jam with with “Angel Fire”. The chemistry between Ryker and Tia is undeniable, but fraternization amongst ranks is forbidden and with Rykers service almost up Tia has the most to lose. I loved how everything plays out in this book and how well plotted it is, Ellie Masters masterfully merges rocker romance with military romance all in one book. She knows her music and her military lingo too. A lot goes on in this book and there is never a dull moment. There is drama, angst, action, some heartfelt moments and the start of a wonderful romance. Elllie Masters, thank you for another amazing story and emotional rollercoaster ride. Also thank you for keeping it real while covering subjects like PTSD and women in military, touching on some challenges they face, showing how Tia felt the need to prove herself worthy and that she could hold her own. I hope the rest of the series is coming to Audible too.
I listened to the Audible edition, Josh Mickley did a great job narrating and bringing the characters to life giving each their own voice and personality. He is an entertaining storyteller and a pleasure to listen to. Thank you for the great listen
To be honest with you, I’m hooked on this series. Forget your preconceived notions of a Rock Band Romance and let Ellie Masters show you what her imagination found when creating this series. Not only are the members of Angel’s Fire is HOT HOT HOT but the people they attract are smoking as well. This story will take you into a Special Ops Surgical Teams missions. Just know ahead of time, once you start this book, you won’t be able to put it down until your finished. Congratulations on another 5 star rating!
Just breathe…
Just breathe…
Just breathe…
Hearts Desire was everything and then some. Ellie Masters has once again left me absolutely breathless!!! From page one I was consumed with the story. I loved how we got to see the men from Angel Fire again while becoming in love with Tia and her military team. There were definitely times throughout the book that had me on the edge of my seat.
And please don’t get me started on Lyons (a.k.a. Ryker)…if I was there in the book I would be on my knees for him. The man is 100% swoon worthy and I am claiming him as mine if Ellie will allow it. Ryker is a down to earth, alpha male who just captured her heart from the beginning all the way to the end.
Hearts Desire is intense with a side of sweet and sexy. The book had me from the beginning all the way to the end. My addiction to everything Ellie Masters has grown tenfold. Bring on the next book – STAT!!!

SO glad I came back to this series! Got pulled away to another book….But came back cause Ellie’s writing style is so good!!
Like book 2, Ellie wrote an endearing and loving story (with a side of Dom/slight kink) of 2 special ops medical team members in the Air Force. And while it’s a big no no to have a fling/ fratenizing, their attraction to one another overpowers them both. So bam… Yummy !!
All the while, Angel Fire is on a USO tour where Skye and Forrest return to the story, along with the rest of the band … We have hints of Tia’s past with a less than good foster situation that Skye and Forrest save her from… But unlike book 2 (and far from book 1), we don’t find out what actually happened to her. It didn’t seem to effect her relationship or sex, so not sure what it is/was that happened to her???
Anyhoo… An accident happens and 2 terrible things occur (1) Bent gets hurt and so Ryker must step in to help the band… Quite convenient, and does awesome btw, love that he was made into a musical prodigy of sorts, but (2) I’m heartbroken over Baby, Ash’s guitar. Did it survive? Did it come back in pieces? Will it come back at all? Cause that guitar is an important part of book 2! But no mention of its ultimate demise. Gosh, I felt greater loss over the guitar than the guy who got shot.
Overall, I loved this story, and I adore Ellie Masters writing. After book 1 and 2 (which I recommend reading 2 before 1), I was expecting some tragic past that haunts their future… But this book was a nice, non trigger story that still has all the goods.
Also, working on an Angel Fire playlist… Still a work in progress, but many of the songs alluded to or mentioned…enjoy

How do you get to read a sizzling hot rock and roll romance combined with all the angst found in a great military romance? You read Heart’s Desire by Ellie Masters. I always say this author is a word magician because there is nothing she cannot write, but even I was in awe about how she took these two completely different genres and meshed them to perfection. We get to revisit the love between Ash and Skye in this book. We get a big hug from that mountain of a man Forrest. We get to rub up against all the sexy tattooed men of Angel Fire, and as if that wouldn’t be amazing enough, we meet Tia and Ryker! Tia is this strong female military officer who is making it big time in a man’s world. She is tough, focused and takes no prisoners. Ryker is this sexy as heck military “playboy” who just can’t seem to keep his hands off Tia. The visual details of this write make me feel like I am in the Afghanistan desert with these guys. It is hot, dusty, dry and dirty, but these two steam it up with a love affair that makes the desert wet and welcoming. But I digress, so how in the world does a rock and roll band fit into his story? READ the book and find out! It’s delicious and I can’t wait for this series to continue. I highly recommend this book.
When Ellie Masters “puts pen to paper” the results are always highly charged and thoroughly entertaining. Great characters and strong storylines give the reader a pleasurable experience.
Major Tia “T” Meyers and Tech Sergeant Ryker Lyons are part of an Air Force Special Ops Surgical Unit. From the moment Ryker met T, he’s wanted her. A Dear Jane letter finally gives him the opportunity he’s waited for. The relationship is forbidden by military standards; officers and enlisted personnel cannot fraternize. Although they’re cautious, it’s a great risk to her career.
Angel Fire comes to play USO shows at Bagram and Ryker is given the opportunity to sit in with them. That opportunity leads to an extended duty assignment when Bent, Angel Fire’s bass player, is injured during a convoy attack. Tia and Ryker’s secret is discovered. She is sent back into combat with a warning that an investigation is being initiated. Ryker continues the tour with the band but when Tia is injured, he rushes to her side. Thankful she’s alive, he kisses her and that kiss is her undoing. Brought up on charges she faces a court-martial. Her military career at an end, Tia finally realizes she’s no longer shackled by rules and regulations that keep her and Ryker apart. She has a new career in front of her and a new love beside her.
This author has beautifully blended military and rock together to create a story that will stay with you long after you put the book down. Absolutely loved this book and am eagerly awaiting the next!
I strongly urge you to start at Hearts Insanity though, as you will not want to miss any of these characters nor their stories
