From USA Today bestselling author W Winters comes an emotionally captivating and thrilling, romantic suspense. At first, his words were harsh and his touch cold. I knew he was a dangerous man and he could destroy me if only he wanted to. That’s not what he wanted though. It’s not what he needed. It’s not what I desired either. It’s so easy to get lost in the touch of a man who’s powerful and … the touch of a man who’s powerful and unattainable.
A man who wants for nothing … except me.
Soft touches and stolen glances made my blood heat and my heart beat in a way I never knew it could.
Yes, it’s easy to fall into a haze of lust and desire.
But there’s a reason his reputation is one of a heartless man.
And I should have known better.

This is the second book in the Merciless series and I do recommend reading Merciless first. Carter and Aria have a very intense relationship. Carter wanted Aria so he took her but as both have been broken in the past they have a need for each other. I was hooked from beginning to end, so many twists and turns and the chemistry is steamy. Looking forward to more.
4.5 Stars
When Merciless ended, I was desperate to find out what would become of Carter and Aria. Heartless picks up, right where Merciless left off and it has just as much suspense, tension and raw emotion as book one. Carter is not a ‘good’ man, he is flawed and dangerous, but beneath the surface is so much more than meets the eye and in this book, we get to see what makes this man tick. I loved getting to know more about him and his past. Aria, for her part, is falling for Carter against her better judgement. The connection between them in this book is explosive. Winters has upped the motions, intensity here and Carter and Aria will at turns steam up your kindle and break your heart. There were some twists here that left me reeling and the ending has me gasping out loud. I’m desperate for book three to see what will become of these two in a world that is all about hard fought control and sacrifice.
This is the next part of Carter and Aria’s story and it was amazing and kept me interested from the start, I couldn’t get enough and definitely a page turner!! The ending leaves me begging for the next part!! I can’t wait to continue their story! The storyline flows seamlessly and written very well. I highly enjoyed the story and would recommend to others!
Oh my gahhh this book is wanting to give me a heart attack! Be very aware that this ends with a major cliffhanger and leaving you with no patience for the next in its series!
We began on the crazy love story of Aria and Carter in the first book. That in itself was complicated but such a sweet connection between them, in a very weird way lol. The plot only thickens in Heartless. We get a deeper understanding and connection to Carter and I loved that. Aria is still so torn on what is going on. Once we think things are going well and progress is being made, things hit the fan and everything gets much more complicated than we could had predicted. I’m still swirling from the end and must have book 3 asap!!
Willow Winters just keeps getting better and better!! Wow! Heartless was emotional and gritty with strong characters that feel almost real. The storyline will keep you turning the page. I didn’t plan on reading this in its entirety before bed, but I was wrong. I couldn’t go to sleep until I reached the end. I highly recommend it. You won’t regret it!
“Women like you were made to ruin men like me.” – Carter
Unbelievable………That’s literally all I can say. I’m still hung up on this book!!! Every time I think this storyline can’t get any better, Willow Winters pulls a “HAHA you thought it was over…….it’s just beginning!!” The ending though, it will break you. The ending will keep this book in your thoughts for weeks. Once you start this series there is no turning back. I’m addicted!
Carter and Aria’s story continues in book 2. I’ve been anxiously awaiting this novel. Clear your calendar because this is very much a one sitting read. The story is written well, and is riveting in a twisty way. I’m looking forward to the next book.
Willow has a way of drawing you in and keeping you holding your breath in each of these books in the Merciless series, although this is book 2 in the series the anticipation for the next is very real! Well written story with intense characters this read sends you into a roller coaster of emotions and feels and romance!
OMG! This is the continuation of Carter and Aria. This is a continuing dance, so to speak. A beautiful dance filled with passion, sorrow and anger. The kind of dance between two people that makes you hold your breath because you can’t imagine which emotion will win out in the end. This book is a page turner, and I absolutely can’t wait for the next one. I highly recommend it!
The twists & turns will leave you on the edge! This story just keeps getting better. Aria & Carter are still locked in a struggle with each other as things heat up & escalate. What will Carter do? Will Aria come to terms with the way her life is changing? So many questions. So many thrills, animosity, & such chemistry. Can’t wait for the next book!
OMG! Holy sh*t I am spent. This series is getting better and better. I am addicted to Carter and this while series. This book left me shocked and breathless. Everything is tested, trust, love and loyalty. Carter and Aria have started to grow closer, but neither knows the other’s true feelings. These two were made for each other. The war has begun and no one knows what will happen by the end. Willow just grabs you from the beginning and spins a wonderful story. You feel what the characters feel and it seems like you are right there. You find out more about Carter’s past and how he became the man he is today. This story has taken me on a ride and i love it, and it’s not done yet. The ending of this book left me reeling and wanting to know what will happen next. This is a series you do not want to miss. This is the best so far and I can’t wait to see what happens next.
I love how this book picks up right after Merciless. Totally kept me hooked from the beginning to end. So much twists and turns and the drama! The doubt! The love and hate and hate because of love, this book was just amazing. This book definitely allows us to understand Carter much more and as much as cliffhangers are looked down upon, theres just so much with Aria and Carter that it cant be contained into one book. Even two books wasn’t enough, ill be helplessly waiting for the third to come out. I love the brothers and all but Aria, ugh totally teared up haha
that blurb definitely hits the heart
This is the second book in Carter and Aria’s story. It is not a standalone book. Be sure you read book one, Merciless first. This book is just stunning! It has a well written and complex storyline. It has characters that are fully developed and beautifully flawed. This series offers a brilliant blend of crime boss story and dark romance. In this book the emotional connection between Carter and Aria deepens and although it doesn’t seem possible the steamy scenes get hotter. The drama, danger and suspense all intensify. As Carter and Aria begin to learn more about each other, some painful secrets are exposed, while others remain hidden and new shocking twists are discovered. The chemistry is scorching and the intimate scenes blistering but these two refuse to truly admit to the feelings they have for each other. When the situation explodes, hard, painful choices will be made. Choices that will have horrible, horrifying, long lasting repercussions. This book ends on a OMG/NO!! cliffhanger and I can not wait for book three.
4.5 stars.
I was left feeling conflicted about my feelings towards carter at the end of Merciless but in Heartless I finally started to feel like I was getting to know Carter. I think it’s safe to say I’m slowly falling for him. He’s both is and isn’t the man I thought he was. Aria is such a complex, confused character. One minute she’s a strong woman who knows what she wants but the next she’s back to been the pliant, accept what she’s told Aria. I loved the push and pull between Carter and Aria and the intensity when they’re around each other. With a war on its way, both Aria and Carter need to decide who is more important to them and prepare to deal with the storm that’s heading their way.
Heartless is another great instalment from this series. It’s packed with action, it’s gritty and emotionally charged and I didn’t want it to end. I can’t wait for the next book to find out what happens next.
Heartless is the second book in the Merciless series, and you must read it in order to be able to follow the story. It was a dark, complex story, full of emotions and angst. It pulled me in and kept me engrossed from start to finish. The characters are well developed and their attraction for eachother is undeniably. Ends with a cliffhanger, and I really can’t wait for the next book to see what’s going to happens next.
5 STARS FOR BOOK #2, HEARTLESS!! Holy smokes this book held me captive all the way through. The feels this story has is off the charts. Willow Winters writes with so much emotion, you feel it in your bones. Carter and Aria’s story continues and you do not want to miss their story, but please start with the first book. I can’t wait for the next book.
Ahhhh another cliffhanger!!! This book picks up Merciless leaves off. There are definitely some serious secrets left to be revealed. The writing is amazing and like Ms. Winter’s other books, will leave you hooked and unable to put it down. I have read almost all her books and I have yet to find one The I dislike. I really hope the next book comes out soon because I am dying to know what happens next!
This book brings us a little deeper into Carter’s plan for Aria and her family. We know from the first book that he has started a war because of her but this book gives a little more insight as to why.
As for Aria, just when we thought that she was coming around, she seems to break further. Especially after the new truths that Carter had told her, she is unsure of how to react to everything that is happening around her.
When push comes to shove neither Aria nor Carter know which side the other will end up on. But this story is not done yet so stayed tuned for the conclusion…

I was debating between 3 and 4 stars for this one and settled on 3 1/2. This isn’t a bad book by any means but there wasn’t any progression of the story to me. Aria actually seemed even more broken in this book and Carter was still a jerk with too many secrets. The ending is what made it not a solid 3 star read and because of that I can’t wait for the next one.
WHAT!? I.. GAH! I don’t know what I’m going to do with myself until Breathless comes out. That was quite the twist at the end of Heartless, and I was left with my heart in my throat. I have no idea what anything means or who is on what side or who I want to come out on top. I was so wrapped up in the intensity of this story; I didn’t even realize I was closing in on the end until there were no pages left to turn.
I’m gonna be really honest here; I’m still really unsure how I feel about Aria and Carter. I feel guilty for loving them together since their started relationship is completely out of a hostage situation. This series is so reminiscent of CJ Roberts’ Dark Duet, and my heart is just as torn about both couples. I love every second they’re together, to the point I almost forget the circumstances Aria is living under, then when Aria is alone my heart breaks for her, and all I want is for her to be able to flee. I’m so torn, so confused, so desperate for an easy answer but I don’t think there will ever be one. I am in knots over this book and I don’t anticipate them loosening for a long time.
Between the power exchange between Aria and Carter, the war, her feelings and anticipation of what is going to happen to her family, and the feelings they’re both starting to develop, the tension was sky-high in this novel. Every single interaction between all of the characters felt charged, ready to explode. There were so many things they all wanted needed to say, but couldn’t; it felt as if there was an entire second story being told in the undercurrent of body language and glances. It was intense and fascinating how Ms. Winters was able to convey that feeling so clearly without making it awkward and obvious.
Heartless was exceptional, from the moment it picked up right where Merciless had ended until it left me reeling with that shocking ending, there wasn’t a moment’s rest for the reader. Everything about the book was so heightened because the situation is so extreme, and Ms. Winters did an excellent job of keeping the anticipation ramped up to a fever point throughout the entirety of the book. It’s going to be a while before I’m going to be able to fully come to terms with everything that has happened to Aria and Carter and decide exactly how I feel about their twisted story.
Heartless is the second book in W. Winters’ Merciless Saga. These books are not standalones and must be read in order, with each book picking up right where the previous one ended. We were first introduced to the world of Merciless in Little Liar and Possessive, but those books do not need to be read for comprehension of this series. Heartless is written in dual first-person perspective, narrated by Aria and Carter.
Willow Winters continues to impress me with her highly artistic romantic suspense novels. I appreciate the flow of her work and how even the more aggressive, action-packed scenes have a certain grace and fluidity to them most suspense novels don’t. I find myself both desperate to find out how her books will end and not wanting them to be over because her prose is so beautiful I don’t want to leave her words.
