From USA Today bestselling author W Winters comes an emotionally captivating and thrilling, romantic suspense. At first, his words were harsh and his touch cold. I knew he was a dangerous man and he could destroy me if only he wanted to. That’s not what he wanted though. It’s not what he needed. It’s not what I desired either. It’s so easy to get lost in the touch of a man who’s powerful and … the touch of a man who’s powerful and unattainable.
A man who wants for nothing … except me.
Soft touches and stolen glances made my blood heat and my heart beat in a way I never knew it could.
Yes, it’s easy to fall into a haze of lust and desire.
But there’s a reason his reputation is one of a heartless man.
And I should have known better.

Heartless continues with Carter and Aria’s story in the Merciless saga. These two are broken but refuse to bend. I loved their strengths and weaknesses, both wanting to give in but not willing to yield to the other where it really matters. The secrets and lies continue to keep them apart, even when they’re together. This was so full of angst, yet so hot and seductive. I felt all their emotions so deeply! And I love Jase, I want more about him! But the Cross brothers remain a force to be reckoned with, and there is more to come in this battle for power and revenge.
I loved reading Willow Winters continuation of Carter and Aria’s story. This book will leave you wanting more, and I am looking forward to reading the next book.
So this is book two in the Merciless series and one I was desperately awaiting after that shocking finale we were treated to in its predecessor.
So in “Heartless” we actually dial it down a notch and instead really just concentrate on the overall dynamic that is building between Aria and Carter and here I felt we get much more of a sense of connection between the two; more so than I originally felt in Book one.
While this was great and I did really enjoy exploring and deciphering the obscurity which is Carters’ brain as well as getting to understand more of what makes Aria tick this did mean a much slower pace overall.
For that reason alone, I think I enjoyed this slightly less than “Merciless”
It just wasn’t as all-out action and I felt it did drag slightly at times.
I mean book one was just so hectic and I think I was expecting this to be along a similar vein.
This wasn’t necessarily bad just different.
I still really enjoyed this a whole lot though; it was just much more internal angst than I was anticipating until about 70 percent in that is; here it then did start to pick up majorly barreling headlong towards another major cliffhanger.
And that’s another thing I could have sworn this was a duo, not what looks to be a four-parter so I was kinda expecting a conclusion that we didn’t actually get; got to say I was a tad bummed out at that fact.
This again had few minimal characters as practically all events occur at the house under lockdown.
This was also as expected super hot setting the pages alight with its raw sensuality.
Told in duel POV and after that ending; well its safe to say I for one will be waiting anxiously for the next chapter here.
This was a great second instalment that I am happy to recommend.
Thank you to the author for providing me with an ARC of “Heartless” of which I have reviewed voluntary.
All opinions are entirely my own.

“You’re the bird in the forest who lured the child out of safety until he fell into a black hole he could never get out of.”
Holy Smokes, what an incredible ride of suspense. What an explosion of dark phenomena. Wow, Heartless unlocked and opened the darkness within me. Man, this book was freaking brilliant. The effervescent characters. The honey dripping plot offering sweet and bitter ecstasy. The bone shivering scenes. Heartless filled my soul. Heartless sneaked into my heart and twisted it. I was a captive. Captive to the story. Captive to the words. Willow Winters is freaking talented. Her books always call to me. Whether, it is an emotional book or a hypnotizing dark suspense, Willow Winters just manages to capture me and bring me into her amazing world. Heartless was absolutely SPECTACULAR. Seriously, I am so speechless right now that I can’t find the right words. Heartless overtook my mind. Heartless DESTROYED me. Heartless set my soul on fire. Heartless definitely one of my favourite reads from Willow Winters.
Heartless is the second book in the Merciless series. Let me tell you, this book was a straight up drug to my system. Inhibiting me. Drowning me. Giving me the sweetest high. It was addictive. It was intoxicating. I was a junkie to its pages. Heartless took me under and stole every breath out of my body. Chilling. Exhilarating. Magnificently Dark. Sinful. Heartless was a bewitching thriller. A passionate and compelling book that leaves you stunned and craving. A seductive spectacle that brings danger and intrigue. I adore Willow Winters’s writing. Her writing is freaking interesting and deep. Her level of talent holds no bounds. She always captivates me with her dynamic storytelling. Potent to my heart. Potent to my soul. Heartless is a gripping and emotional charged ride. Filled with intensity, deadly desires, emotions and action. Heartless will take you on twisted journey of captivity, obsession and power.
Carter and Aria are one amazing couple. They have a prey and predator dynamic that gives you excitement. I was surely excited. Wow. This couple absolutely rock. The conflict. The emotions. These two definitely made my heart jump a lot but still give electricity that short through my heart. Aria has fight. She is stubborn but she is strong. Yes, a lot might see as a doormat but I feel her emotion of submission. And it was damn mesmerizing. Carter is everything. E V E R Y T H I N G. Calculating. Dominating. Ruthless. Cruel. Dangerous. He is a sexy anti-hero that will make you lose your mind and want a bite of him. I sure wanted that bite.
That ending!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!Gosh, I am not over it. I need book 3 right now. Willow Winters, get cracking and give me book 3 now. I highly recommend the Merciless series
Heartless was a gritty and captivating read that consumed me and had me glued to my Kindle. I thought I was prepared for Heartless but the wild ride Aria and Carter took me on had me wanting so much more. I loved the push and pull between Aria and Carter. She was defiant yet obedient while Carter was a merciless bad boy with a hidden charm. Both are strong characters and the connection between them is intense. I found myself wanting so much more of their story and can’t wait for their story to continue!
This is the second book in Aria and Carters story and is still just as intense and emotional as the first maybe more. The ending has definitely left me reeling and anxious for Breathless so I can find out what comes next. This is a series that will keep you on edge holding your breath the entire time.
It’s intense, gripping and suspenseful. It will continue to suck you in from the beginning as grabs you and keeps you on the edge of your seat. It will continue to take you through an emotional ride. The chemistry is steamier and hotter than ever! I’ve enjoyed following their journey. Looking forward to reading more!
Carter is an alpha male who wants to dominate Aria. In order to have her he has made dangerous choices that affected his family as well. Aria slowly has come to depend on Carter which makes her feel a lot of guilt. Throughout the book both of them have fallen in love with each other. The way this book ended definently made me want the next in the series! I can’t wait to get my hands on the next on.
The continuation of Carter and Aria’s story doesn’t disappoint with the first chapter starting right where the last book left off, with gruesome images and dark themes to set the tone. We find out some secrets in this read and one that has me thinking, who was the girl that needed Aria’s dad…or was it Aria. Their relationship seems to take one step forward and then two steps back, with steamy dark scenes as Carter starts to “feel” more for Aria and Aria is stuck between hating and loving him. The ending leaves another doozy cliffhanger, wondering will she or won’t she and what will Carter do now that he’s unleashed her.
*I voluntarily read an advanced copy and expressed my honest opinion*
Heartless is set in the dark underbelly of the world and continues the brutally haunting story of Carter Cross and his captive songbird Aria.
W Winters has created two amazing characters in this series of novels who are both complex and relatable. This book sees both Carter and Aria struggling to reconcile who they are now with who they were prior to meeting. Winters’ beautifully captures how one person, if significant, can change your world.
Heartless is another wonderful addition to the growing series. However be warned there is another brutal cliffhanger. Start the count down until the next book is released.
This continuation of Carter and Aria has left me wanting more. Their story was twisted!
You will want to read book 1 first and then you will be dying for book 3, book two is a cliffhanger but so worth reading and with the wait for book 3!
Carter and Aria are caught between a war between their families and in this book we learn secrets and more about Carter. Their sexy and twisted tale was really good
Whew, what a ride. I cautiously went into Heartless because I was afraid it may into a direction that I wouldn’t be interested in, WRONG. This is the kind of review that is hard for me to write because I am so excited about this book that I want to tell the whole story but I don’t want give any spoilers.
Heartless picks up right were Merciless left off. They are all still in dinning room, Carter is trying to get Aria to give him the knife but she will not, she can’t believe Stephen is actually dead. All eyes are on her and Carter.
Finally Carter get’s her out of there and ends up giving her Sweet Lullaby to sleep but that backfires on him. She ends up having vivid dreams of her life and screaming out. It seems everything Carter gives Aria sends her in the opposite direction, instead of running to him she runs away, at lease emotionally.
Aria feels as if she is nothing more than a toy for Carter. At times she feels like there has to be more but then she feels like she is just being foolish. He is going to kill her whole family, a man, no monster like that, could never feel for her what she is feeling for him.
Carter knows a part of Aria will always hate him but she will forgive him. She can never leave him, he won’t let her. He can give her all she needs and wants, she will see when this is all over. He even wonders to Jase if he should let her father live but Jase reasons with him. He wonders to himself if he married her would that make a difference but squashes that idea as well.
He tells Aria that he wants her by his side, for his family to be untouchable, and for people to fear her just as much as they fear him. She tells him she wants no part of that life. Finally Carter calls her father but doesn’t allow Aria to speak to him only listen. However, he sends her a message that is clear to her but what to do with it she isn’t sure until she does it…
I am mind blown by Heartless, book # 2 in the Merciless Series by W. Winters!!! The continuation of Carter and Aria’s story has left me shaken to the core!!! The war has started and the lines are drawn but not all lines are are clear, especially between Carter and Aria. Carter is a confident Alpha that needs to control everything around him. Aria is a feisty and strong willed women that will fight till the death for anything she feels strongly about. So how can they love and hate each other at the same time. They need each other like the air they breath but neither will admit it or show weakness if any sorts. Love the The book is an explosion of emotions and when it’s over you feel exhausted but wanting more!!
Carter Cross and Aria Talvery continuing story will leave you breathless with wanting more and more of them. I don’t want to spoil the book with a lengthy review. This book is aptly titled because heartless is what you get from the first page to the last page. Not to put a too fine of point on this but it’s also merciless in its tone too. I won’t say anymore but go and get your own copy of this heart-wrenching book today without delay.
Willow’s books just keep getting better this series is just amazing. I can not get enough of Carter. I am dying for more.
It’s been a long time since I’ve read a book so dark, twisted and simply beautiful. I’ve been a huge fan of Willow Winters for a long time, but this one has left me practically speechless and in a way heartbroken myself. Waiting for the next book is going to be hard… but it will give me time to reread the first 2. This is one series you can not and should not miss. The writing is on a level all its own.
This book starts off where Merciless left off. The dark romance continues with Carter and Aria. We learn more about Carter and his past which explains why he is who he is. We start seeing a softer side of Carter too. Aria starts standing up to Carter and gets to know his brothers better. Willow has written another amazing read with strong character and a story that makes it hard to put the book down!
Heartless-displaying a complete lack of feeling or consideration.
In Heartless, Carter’s true self is finally revealed and WOW was I blown away. Carter is feared, Carter is ruthless, Carter is respected, Carter is loved, all the while Carter pretends to be heartless. However, he is everything but heartless. Carter has become the man he has become because of his past and the life that was chosen for him. He is chasing an obsession of a girl that saved him the day he wanted his life to end. He thought he loved her, but it was HATE that drove him to take her, to make her need him and fall for him. Now he is finding that he no longer has the control and it is Aria that holds all the cards. How did this happen? How did an obsession turn into Carter needing her?
Aria is in a very hard place. She is starting to care for Carter even though he is keeping her a prisoner and ready to kill everyone she has ever loved. She needs him, his touch, his gentleness, his roughness, HIM. When did this all happen? When did Aria start to fall in love with the man she fears the most but also finds herself wanting to save the most? With every turn Carter throws Aria a curveball. Once she thinks he sees her as nothing but his plaything, his confessions fill her with hope and want. Dreams that maybe he too feels more than the image of the heartless man he makes himself out to be. The more she gets to know him and the little talks she has with his brothers and Addison make her question his true intentions for her. Maybe just maybe he does love her.
Willow Winters is masterful with her words, making every scene jump out and consume you. Every character is well thought out with so much depth. Their interactions among each other verbally and nonverbally helps pave the story and the effect they have on each other. Aria and Carter’s relationship is thrilling, unpredictable, toxic, lonely, consuming, but it also has the pureness of two broken individuals who in their own way want to save the other. I have come to really, really love Carter and how much he LOVES Aria. So when I read the very last words to the end of this book I was left HEARTBROKEN because for the first time throughout this book I saw Carter as HEARTLESS.
I have been waiting for this continuation of Carter and Aria’s story since I finished Merciless. This book continues to bring the darkness, angst and intensity of the first. I was really hoping that this book would show more of what makes Carter tick and it definitely does. We see the complexity and layers that make him who he is. Every word of this story drew me and and the ending had me holding my breath. I can’t wait for the next installment. If you haven’t started this series yet, what are you waiting for? Willow Winters has created an amazing anti-hero in Carter. I can’t wait to get more of him!
Heartless by Willow Winters is book Two in the Merciless series. This continues the story of Carter and Aria from the previous book, Merciless. Heartless picks right back up where Merciless left off. Things are so very intense and I love how intense things are. Carter and Aria go thru this push and pull type of relationship—things between them are changing , not what it used to be, its evolving , at times devolving yet not. I could tell how stressful things were yet the conflict was so intense!!!! I don’t want to say too much but get ready for an emotional roller coaster of a ride ladies and gents!!!! I know you are wondering and yes, the war continues between families, and between Carter and Aria. There is so much desire, heat, drama, tension, angst, passion , defiance, charm, darkness and yes, love- all I can tell you is, Ms. Winters really wrote her heart out and showed us a couple who went thru their ups and downs, bared their soul and came out on the other side changed. The stakes got higher and higher- who came out the winner. This is a must read by this author. I totally loved the ending which sets up for bk 3. That ending was freaking intense!!!!
My Rating: 4.7 stars *****
“I received an advanced copy of this book from the author at no cost to me.”
