Two blue lines. That means not pregnant, right? Right? Oh, sh*t.
Five years ago, Colm Frost asked me to marry him and I ran. I ran from my painful past too raw and fresh to escape. He was the only one who looked at me like I wasn’t broken and made me believe it. He made me feel it.
Now, he’s the hot, angry, hockey player on the mend.
I’m the physiotherapist who’s supposed to get him back on … the physiotherapist who’s supposed to get him back on his feet.
I don’t think our night together was what his doctor prescribed, but that doesn’t mean I haven’t dreamt of him every time I close my eyes. I woke up beside him with my body still singing from the way he fanned the flames of my desire, but I couldn’t stay.
His lips on my neck. His hands wrapped around my waist. His impressive…ahem, touch leaving me breathless.
One moment of wild inhibition and it’s come back to bite me in the butt. Kind of like he did that night.
But a baby? Our night was supposed to be a one time thing, closing a door on the future I couldn’t handle.
Will this new bump in the road be everything we needed to find our forever?
Heartless King is a standalone friends to enemies to lovers, accidental pregnancy romance that brings all the laugh out loud, angsty feels!

This is the fifth and last book in the Kings of Rittenhouse. This story is so beautiful! Colm and Imogen are two broken souls. Their story is well written, emotional, beautiful, romantic, heartbreaking, and heartwarming afterward. Colm is handsome! Imo is a lovely and strong woman. They both had a difficult past. My heart broke for both of them. They are perfect together, and their chemistry is wonderful. The ending has the most romantic scene I ever read. The Epilogue is perfect. The supporting characters are amazing. This story is a great addition, and a beautiful closure to this amazing Series. I HIGHLY recommend it.
This was an amazing read, and conclusion to this series, this is the story of Colm, and Imogen. This book was beautifully written, the characters had amazing chemistry, and I was glued the pages until the end. This was entertaining, emotional, steamy, passionate, intense, and dramatic.
4,5 stars
I started my journey with Maya Hughes with reading the last book of Kings of Rittenhouse series. And I can honestly admit I will come back to the very beginning. She charmed me with this book. Maybe because I have a soft spot for hockey players. Maybe because I love reading surprise pregnancy stories. The author took me into her world, filled with amazing and unique heroes with real life baggage, insecurities, and tragic past. A story about the power of family and friendship. The story about opening your heart for another person, starting live for yourself and fall in love, again.
Colm and Imo captivated my heart, with their assets and weaknesses, honesty, passion, and their slowly blossoming love toward themselves and a little one, they created. Both, had lots of battles to conquer, emotional and physical ones. But the final course was so worth fight for.
“Do you want to be looking back at what you’ve lost, or moving toward what you can create?”
Heartless King gave me all the feelings, angst, laugh, and love. The unbreakable friendship bond and second chance, in love and happiness. I really recommend Colm and Imogen’s story.

I have only read a few of Maya Hughes’ books but after this series she is definitely one of my favorite authors! This book made me laugh, cry, and kept me wanting more throughout the whole story! u2063

Throughout this book both Colm and Imogen have to overcome many challenges. Getting through those challenges is what makes them such an amazing couple and you definitely don’t want to miss reading all the emotional details. u2063

I loved Colm from the beginning and his care taking personality! Just the way he is in the whole series made me fall for him before his book even started. This book exceeded all of my expectations for Colm’s story and I think Imogen was the perfect person for him!! u2063

Thank you Maya for writing this amazing series and gifting us this amazing world that we could all get lost in!! I can’t wait to see what you have in store for other books in the future!!
Oh my, I couldn’t put this book down or stop to want to yell at the characters because of what was going on. The moment I started reading I was hooked and felt like I was in this story, feeling what the characters were feeling. Colm, is usually the level-headed, responsible, caring guy of the group, especially towards his sister. But then his life feels upended and he decides he doesn’t want to be that guy anymore and is trying to deal with what’s going on. Imogen has been dealt a tough hand in life and is only living a shell of a life. Imogen and Colm run into each after haven’t seeing each other in years. One night leads to possibilities, but then life happens. Colm and Imogen have insane chemistry that can’t be ignored, but with little communication and withholding of feelings, can lead to various paths in life. Colm and Imogen will take you on one emotional roller coaster of a journey, with them dealing with past events, facing their current positions, and figuring out what they want in life. Read this book, you will enjoy the world this is the Kings of Rittenhouse.
Whew! I was here for this story! Colm is in a bad place. Life isn’t being kind to him, but Imogen was the only person who saw past what he was doing and saw the real him. These two have a tendency to be there for each other when the other person is at their lowest. While they haven’t seen each other in years, Imo was there. I enjoyed the fact that Imogen was able to move past any awkwardness and step in and help Colm. She wasn’t the kind of person to turn someone away. And Colm truly needed her help, even if he wouldn’t admit it. The chemistry between them was combustible and I couldn’t read this book fast enough! This book brought all the feels and I didn’t want their story to end!
Firstly, I should probably say I’ve only read Fearless King, but I didn’t feel like I was missing anything when it came to the other characters & their stories.
I was intrigued by Colm & his story after Fearless King, I wanted to know what happened to him to make him so cold. I really enjoyed Colm and Imogen story, they are both broken & vulnerable characters, life has dealt them some crappy situations.
Their HEA was a long & hard road, they had a lot of inner demons & problems to deal with, and at times I really wanted to shake them both. I especially wanted Imogen to not be afraid, to let someone else love her, sometimes in life you will have more than one great love. Now the chemistry between these two was off the charts hot, they had an intense kind of attraction. Which burnt through the pages of my kindle.
I loved the epilogue & the extended one, I will definitely be reading the other books in this series, when I have the time.
I very recently picked up the Kings of Ritterhouse series after I saw that this was being released and I was a little (majorly) obsessed. I binge read the first four and than had to wait to get my grabby hands on this one. And I didn’t do it very patiently. But it was well worth the wait.
Colm has been one of my least favourite Kings. And to be fair he probably didn’t deserve it but he was such an arse when it came to Ford and Liv. But seeing it all from his perspective made me appreciate how very much he had been through. By the middle of the book I was just so heartbroken for him.
Now I want to go on and on about how much I loved his Queen and how perfect these two were together. And how much this particular Queen deserved her HEA. However I double checked the blurb and if you haven’t finished book four or you’re reading this as a standalone you might not know who she is. So in the interest of being spoiler free I am just going to say SQUEEE.
This was a great conclusion to a very enjoyable series. The epilogue was perfect. And even better is that the whole series is on KU so they are a perfect binge read.
To say that Colm is pissed and spiraling is an understatement. So when he and Imo spend a passionate night together, it’s not exactly the start of something wonderful. Nope. Fast forward, though, and Colm’s back in her life. This time, though, Imo is going to stick around and help him. She sees through him and the face he shows the rest of the world, but she’s determined to get through to him, to help him see what she sees, to heal. And then that dreaded two lines happens. Will Colm step up and take responsibility? Can these two broken people make it work?
I have to admit here, that not only have I only read 1 of the previous stories in this series, but also that I didn’t like Colm a whole hell of a lot for much of his story. Imo was awesome from her first appearance, but Colm was just such an ass. I understood why, but it didn’t exactly endear me to him or make me like him for about 3/4 of their journey. And then he started to slowly redeem himself and I could see in him what Imo (and apparently a lot of other readers) did.
I can safely say I like Heartless King. It’s angsty af, it’s sexy, and it’s an emotional roller coaster. The rest of the Kings are around, Liv and Colm’s relationship is a high point as they come to terms with each other, and in the end, Imo and Colm took a journey filled with pain, highs and lows, and love. I know this is the end of this series, but if it had to end, I’d say this is a good couple to end with.
I didn’t get in the book right away. But when it happened I couldn’t stop reading. I love the King’s and since this is my first read in this series I will definetely be reading the other books. Colm and Imo , I really love them as a couple they are so cute. But both had losses in their past and had difficulties getting past them.
Just loved the book!!!
Oh Colm
you pissed me off
you powerful thru
you changed my mind
You made me fall in love with YOU
My fave of this series.
Get ready to be blown away by storm Colm
Heartless…possibly?
One emotionally drained asshole on a downward spiral, one lost woman living life for other people, enough baggage to fill an airplane, and over a dozen positive pregnancy tests. Buckle up for this ride, it’s going to take you everywhere.
The final book in the Kings of Rittenhouse story is Colm’s. He’s the caring, responsible, overbearing big brother. The dad friend of the group always taking care of everyone else and looking out for them. But after an injury sidelines his hockey career and he’s gripped with fear, he stops taking care of everyone – including himself.
In a desperate bid to get him back on track, the epic bromance known as the Kings pull out all the stops. One thing they need is a physiotherapist to whip him back into shape since he’s scarred every other one away. And that’s how Imogen ends up going toe to toe with him and challenging him to not only get back in shape, but to get his shit together.
It’s lovely to see, to be honest. Nothing quite like seeing a sweet, caring woman with almost endless patience toss it out the window and bring down the hammer. Be still, my heart.
To say their relationship is unconventional would be an understatement. They go from awkward to a hot one night stand to reluctant partners in Colm’s recovery to another one night stand and from there it spirals into an undefined collision of heat, tenderness, and emotional vulnerability. Imogen and Colm have an interesting history and seeing it unfold parallel to the present kept surprising me!
I would not say this is an angsty book, but it does have angst in there. More than the other Kings books, for sure, because the emotional state these two lovebirds are in is so visceral and devastating. Their relationship has its ups and downs and a lot of the complications stem from their emotional state. Witnessing them work through it will break your heart and give it whiplash. Colm is searching for direction and Imogen is adrift – the life she thought she had was torn away when he fiance Preston died about 5 years ago. She wants to move on but she feels guilty and is so busy putting everyone else before herself that she needs to slow down and figure out what life she wants now.
While originally Colm is the one being pushed into getting his life together, as he grows in strength, he is able to turn it back on Imo and push her to do the same. To figure out what kind of life she wants, to live in the present, and to have the guts to go for it. The way they bounced off of each other, taking turns being the one to step up and help when needed, made their relationship resonate with me. They were a team, taking turns stepping up to the mat for each other when needed.
These are two damaged people fitting their broken pieces together to find peace and healing in the others arms – it’s a beautiful journey. My heart hurt for them and rejoiced in their triumph when they set the past behind them and found the courage to look toward the future!
*ARC review*
Heartless King is another fantastic addition and the best ending to the Kings of Rittenhouse series. This was such a sweet, swoon worthy, steamy and endearing page turner. From the very first chapter, I was hooked into this story and it never let me go.
Colm and Imogen were amazing together and I adored their snark, sass and banter, but it was their moments of vulnerability, their sharing of past hurts and learning to lean on one another which really touched me. The two go through so many highs and lows and I felt everything right there with them.
Although it is sad to see the end of this amazing series, Maya Hughes did an outstanding job with this book and my heart is full to the brim. I thoroughly enjoyed this captivating and entertaining read and I am looking forward to reading whatever Maya releases next.
Colm and Imo are both dealing with a lot but after a night of drinking they let everything slide for one night. The next morning everything looks different. Imo thinks everything is done until she gets a request to help him, will she refuse? If they see each other at again can either of them let the other in?
I voluntarily reviewed an arc of this book.
This is another wonderful addition to the Kings of Rittenhouse series, it’s a well-written roller coaster of a ride. Colm is definitely my favorite king and I’m so happy he got his HEA with Imogen. They both deserve it. Loved this book and the series. Definitely recommended…

I’ve been waiting for Imogen and Colm to have a story and bonus they’re the couple in the last book in the series. I’m so sad to see this series end. I wanted to take my time reading this one and savor it. Of course that didn’t happen because the characters had me gobbling up the book. This book had plenty of heart and feels. A lot of emotion rolls off the characters especially Imogen and Colm. There were parts that they hit me right in the heart and I got tears in my eyes. That’s when I know you have a winner on your hands. Maya Huges went out with a bang just like she started this series. This book met and exceeded my expectations. I was one happy and satisfied reader. I couldn’t have been more happy with how this book turned out. This book gave me everything I was looking for. I would highly recommend this book.
There is so much emotion that flows through Colm and Imogen’s story and I’m not just talking about romantic emotion, so try to prepare yourself for a book that will give you a major case of “The Feels”. I think one of the things I enjoyed most about these two was that they each had some work to do on themselves before they were ready for that HEA. Theirs is a journey of discovery, learning and love. A excellent read.
I LOVED IT.
This is just such a remarkable story with a twist ,with an Amazing set of characters that have become like friends throughout this whole series,I adore the friendships and sense of family between all of them.
This book is faultless in my eyes…it had me hypnotised from the start and I will find it hard to forget Colm and Imogen’s extraordinary road to love.
I could not recommend it highly enough

First off, why does this series have to end. I have loved every moment with the Kings and their ladies and Colm and Imogen was no different.
Get ready to feel all the deep down, real feels. These two will pull the emotions straight from your heart and give you highs and lows like no other.
Colm was the “parent” of the group. He made sure his sister had everything and now the rug has been pulled out from under him and he’s spiraling hard and fast.
Imogen is the girl who puts everyone one first even if it’s not the best thing for her. She is the helper and goes above and beyond always.
They both feel their futures are so uncertain and so vastly different than either had imagined. Now Imo is tasked to help Colm literally get back on his feet. They try to keep it professional but that’s hard to do when they can’t forget their night together which is even harder to do when the plus sign appears on the pregnancy test.
Will these two stop turning back to the past which gave so much grief and pain or can they look towards a future that neither expected but has the ability to right everything.
As saddened as I am to see this series come to an end I must say it went out with a bang. I’m sure I’ll be seeing these guys pop up in other books and needless to say I’ll be waiting with bated breath for any glimpse I can get.
Where do I even start?
This book wrecked me.
After the events of Fearless King Colm’s hurt. He’s alone. And he’s angry. There is only one person who can reverse his downward spiral.
Imogen has been on the Kings’ sideline for years. After the heartache of loosing Preston in Reckless King she was stuck living in the past.
I loved everything about this book. From the hilarity of the kings ganging up on Imo to the raw pain and growth both Colm and Imo went through in order to regain themselves.
I am a huge fan of Maya’s writing and the kings hold a special place in my heart. This book is bittersweet, and I don’t really know how to handle saying goodbye.
