I’ve broken my fair share of hearts. They don’t call me a former teen heartthrob for nothing. Now, I’m a single dad and things are finally looking up for me in life and love for that matter. But then the ghost of Hollywood past showed up at my doorstep. Now I have to decide if it’s time to go back to my old life, for her, or if I keep it all in the past…for her…
Starting off right where the first book left off with a little bit of a recap this book starts off running and doesn’t stop until the end. There are some tough decisions to make and some emotions to be mended. I really enjoyed this duet with both its writing and narration.
2.5 stars
HeartBreaker picks up right where HeartThrob left off, with Lennox still mad at Rachel for the viral photo she took of him.
I was really looking forward to HeartBreaker, to see how or if, Lennox would get his head out of his ass and apologize to Rachel for how badly he handled the photo situation. Unfortunately, he’s even worse in HeartBreaker. He’s a complete and total jackass here in the second part of their story. Having it told from his POV should have endeared me to him, instead, it just made me dislike him even more. Some of the things he said to Rachel in HeartBreaker were unforgivable, whether he was drunk or not. And Rachel was a total doormat about it! Argh! Yuck, so Lennon was a total douchewaffle, and Rachel was a spineless doormat. No thanks. Hence the 2.5 stars.
This is the conclusion that I have dying to get my hands on and let’s just say it was not what I thought. This book had a few twists I did not see coming at all. And well to be honest I really liked the surprise of it all I’m not sure I liked how it went at first. I was very upset with Lennon and how he went about everything. And then I felt Rachel was being a doormat and I really didn’t like that. But then it turned a corner and all was right with my world and with this book. And then that ending lord love a ducknit couldn’t have been any more perfect. I recommend this book and remember to read Heartthrob first.

Lennox’s secrets are coming out in this book and his new romance with Rachel is on shaky ground. He has some difficult choices to make about his future.
I loved book one, HeartThrob and I enjoyed book two, HeartBreaker, although to a lesser degree. I feel like I didn’t connect with the story the way I did in HeartThrob, maybe because it was from Lennox’s POV and I wasn’t feeling the love for him so much anymore. I loved him in book one but he really lost his luster for me in this one. He comes off as indecisive and a bit thoughtless. It also didn’t help that Rachel was barely even in this book and I didn’t really feel any connection between them anymore. I expected a lot more from this book. 3.75 stars.

This book picks up where the first one left off. Lennox finds out he has a daughter named Cheyenne when she knocks on the door. He was really young and after an alcohol drug fueled hook up Cheyenne was born. He signed away his rights as he knew he couldn’t take care of her. Now he is dealing with Cheyenne’s mother and her TV show. He has choices to make that will affect his girlfriend Rachel, Juniper and Cheyenne. Rachel and Lennox are on again and off again. Will the relationship stand the test of time? A good ending for this duet.

The characters are well developed and engaging with a storyline that took me on a ride from start to finish. I will be adding this author as a must read to my collection.

Heartbreaker is book two and picks up exactly where Heartthrob left off. Lennox has to confront the past that shaped his future and heal the hearts he left broken when he left. This book has a lot more emotions that the previous and I’m glad I could could read this.
This book is continuation of Lennox and Rachel’s story. The previous book was left with a cliffhanger and I was eager to read the next book. This book picks up straight from the last book
I really enjoyed that this book was in the perspective or Len and how readers can learn about his background as a young actor and his rough life that proceeded to meeting his teenager daughter from his hookup with his former costar. I appreciated that it delved into the story what happened with Cheyenne . I liked getting into Len’s perspective and how he was trying to develop a relationship with his daughter
The book did go back and forth between him and Rachel’s relationship which thankfully after some up and downs finished in a good way. I do like like them as couple and I’m glad that Len was able to see Rachel not just as good mum and girlfriend but a capable and smart businesswoman who is dependable. She really helped Lennox break down his barriers. I barely remember his second daughter being this book however till the end.
I did enjoy this book but personally enjoyed the first book just a little bit more. This book though was a good read and ends the story well.
This is part 2 of the duet. You should read part 1 as this story picks up within seconds of that story ending. It is very different as this is 100% in Lennox’s voice and to some degree it is 100% his story and Rachel is not really featured much in it.
Lennox is a single dad to a 6 year old but he is also a former child star and something BIG happened to him when he was 18. That something big rings his doorbell and changes his life. That is really what this book is about. Hime deciding what he wants for his life and future and Hollywood comes calling. And he has to decide who and what he wants for his and his daughters future.
As I mentioned Rachel is not seen much in this story until maybe the very very end. This is his story and it also mostly takes place in Hollywood and to be honest I did not like him much in this story. Lennox is a HUGE idiot in this story.
In the first book he seemed really together and an awesome guy but in this book he is a jerk and has no idea what his priorities should be. And they are pretty screwed up. At 18 I can understand that but not at 34.

This one does start off coming out of a cliffhanger, but it doesn’t bother me. The last book was told by Rachel and this book is Lennox’s. I give Lennox credit. He’s a great dad, and his daughter is his life. He’s had both a charmed and tough life. However, there are times I wanted to yell at both Rachel and Lennox for words that were said. Mistakes are made and choices are decided. I believe that what he does is done with love. However, he’s a little cocky and can be a jerk, but I like that after making a potentially huge error he made a u-turn and got back on track again.
After HeartThrob ended on a minor cliffhanger, I was excited to read this book to complete the duet. When we last saw Len and Rachel, everything was good until a teenager knocked on the door and introduced herself as Len’s daughter Cheyenne. HeartBreaker picks up right where that one left off, and we learn that this is the first time Len has ever met his daughter. She is the product of a one-time alcohol and drug fueled hookup between 18 year old Len and the actress who played his TV mother. Realizing he was in no shape to be a parent, and the fallout that would come to both their careers if the news was out, Len didn’t hesitate to sign away his parental rights and a NDA preventing him from even contacting the child.
Trish, Cheyenne’s mother, uses the promise of spending time with Cheyenne to lure Len to LA to guest on her current show and give her a ratings boost. Back doing the one thing he loved but thought he was done with, Len is riding the high and fielding offers that would reignite his acting career.
Len has a lot of choices to make – especially since any decision he makes will not only affect him but Cheyenne, Juniper, and Rachel.
This was a good conclusion to the duet, even though the HEA felt a little rushed to me. There was a lot of back and forth with Len and Rachel’s relationship – they were on, then off, then on, then I wasn’t quite sure what. Juniper as before was excellent comic relief (excerpt 1 below is a great example) and Cheyenne was an interesting addition to the family.
Book 1 was told through Rachel’s POV and this one is Len’s POV. I enjoyed seeing his thoughts as he realized Rachel was not just a mom and a girlfriend but a capable, smart businesswoman as well.
I devoured this book. DEVOURED. HeartBreaker left me ready to toss my iPad across the room, I couldn’t wait to find out what happened next. HeartBreaker is told totally in Len’s POV which I love. He gives the backstory of how he ended up where he is now and WOW. I mean…I knew he was messed up but I would have never expected it given the way he is now. The relationship with Rachel is up and down throughout the book and I love the way it flows as would any normal relationship, even though this is FAR from a normal relationship. Overall, the duet is excellent. It’s fun, hot & steamy, emotional with some Magan Vernon humor throw in for good measure. I truly recommend reading it.
With HeartBreaker you get to know Len, the once teen heartthrob.
Len has a lot of secrets. Some that no one even knew about. Until one of them lands at his doorstep. In turn, his whole world upside down. And makes things very complicated for him and Rachel.
I didn’t connect with either of the characters on an emotional level. There were a ton of ups and downs. That in a way hoped that Rachel would just be done with Len. But I understood her wanting to have his back. For him to know that there was someone out there, that was there for him.
This was a good and entertaining story. It was on the dramatic side that you didn’t know what Len’s decisions would be. Heck, I don’t even think he knew.
Overall, I’m giving this 3.5 (FOUR) Boundless Stars.
I received a copy of this book from the publisher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.

HeartBreaker is the second book in the Heart Duet. You need to read HeartThrob first. While HeartThrob is told entirely from the female point of view, HeartBreaker is told from the male point of view. This book picks up right where HeartThrob left off right after Lennox broke up with Rachel and all the fall out has begun. Lennox is trying his best to keep a low profile and trying to do the right thing. However that is going to blow up in his face and make things worse for everyone involved. I liked this book and it was a good conclusion but to tell the truth I just never could get into it like I did HeartThrob. I don’t know what it was about it but It just was driving me insane trying to figure out why I wasn’t loving this book as much as the first one.
This is the second book in the Heart duet. I love Magan’s storytelling skills. We finally get to see why Lennox is the way he is now. He has his reasons for being secretive and holding all his cards to his chest. This made me love him even more. Rachel is a rockstar for putting up with all his moodiness. I loved seeing their love story play out and it has a beautiful ending.
I received an ARC via Books and all opinions are my own.

Things were left at the end of book 1 during a pretty awkward moment for not only Rachel but definitely for Len, and now we get to see what happens next! There are plenty of times where I want to strangle Len not only for how he treats Rachael, but also Cheyenne, then there are times I want to shake Rachel as well and then hug her then shake her some more. Seriously these guys frustrate me and thats what I love so much about them as they aren’t perfect, they are flawed also have others in their life that know how to manipulate them “cough”Trish & Ally “cough”. Len and Rachel work well together especially for the bake sale and with their daughters, so you just hope as you read each page that by the end of the book comes that they purge the bad influences in their lives and finally see how great Len and Rachel the couple are!

This is book two of the Hearts Duet—the continuation of Heartthrob.
Honestly, it took me a while to finish this book and not because it was long or uninteresting… I’m sorry but I gotta say that Lennox Reign is probably the most indecisive and self-absorbed male lead I’ve ever read to date… Yes, he’s all that but a person’s physical appearance, notoriety or bank account is not what all that matters.
I’ve read about characters who are a bunch of @s$hölês but eventually turned themselves around and kept being at it… but basing on the flow of this story and how he manages the situations he was in… well it was painful to read. I’ve contemplated on not finishing but I’ve never DNF’d a book before let alone an ARC…
Firstly, he over reacted at Rachel for an obviously innocent mistake… he can’t decide about his feelings for her or where they stand… he treats her like an after-thought… he goes back on his words… he lets his older baby mama practically bully him into submission for a project in exchange for him to see their daughter… and he was condescending in some parts of the book… heck it even took a 16yr old to knock some sense into him… smh…
Seriously, I’ve never ever rolled my eyes on a book character so much! I was afraid it might get stuck that way. He obviously have issues but a normal, grown-up, matured man would never act that way. I don’t know if that was the reaction the author wants, seeing as indeed the book was entitled Heartbreaker.
And Rachel… she’s… well for a lack of a better word, a tad bit s+üp¡d. She’s been holding on to this guy who treats her inconsequentially… who constantly breaks her heart by always choosing something else other than her… she lets him use her whenever he pleases… clearly he lacks in respecting her role in his life… I hate it when people make others question their worth.
This is just how I feel… both as a reader and as someone who’s been treated this way.
I don’t know of it’s just me but if you’ll take away all the shallow romanticism, I’m just saying it as it is.
I don’t entirely hate the book, but I’m not spouting off praises either. Different people have their own opinion, and this is mine.
HeartBreaker by Magan Vernon is book Two in the Heart Duet. This continues the story of Lennox and Rachel, so you should read the previous book ‘HeartThrob’ first to fully enjoy this one.
The first book did show us Rachel’s point of view and in this one with get Lennoxs. HeartBreaker picks up where we left off in book one with the fallout of Rachel’s mistake. But now Lennox who is trying to clean it up has hurt Rachel and is just making things worse instead of better. Both have had secrets and not sharing as they should about their past. In this book things are rocky at first but it does start to smooth out.
Overall enjoyed their story.
HeartBreaker by Magan Vernon a five-star read that will chip your heart away. This is the second book in the Heart Duet, and they do need to be read together, this duet will always have a special place in my heart. My goodness, my poor heart, its been through the ringer, I may never want to meet my teen heartthrob, Len is amazing, but he is also fallible like most of us. The way Magan Vernon shows us that no matter how shinny it is on the outside, its not all sweetness and light underneath. Len has it all on the surface, ex teen heartthrob, cute kid, great life, but is it everything he wants? You need to read this to find out. The story telling is sublime, there is clear definition and plot to the story and its nicely done. That’s one of the things I love about this author, there is always a great ending that you don’t see coming but wraps it all like a present with a great big bow, also there are some amazing pooches in this story.
