Great read
Ok, I guessed ahead of the ending a couple of the twists. I did like that while some were fooled a little while, the good people were not fooled for too long. I did have a bit of problems with the beginning as too much was sprung on me too fast and I found myself struggling to keep the various players straight. The mixed writing in first person contributed to that. Long and Short, I stuck through the beginning and really enjoyed the story and the ending. I will note that it does give you a taste of the story to come and it doesn’t resolve the Holly issue well.
So confusing and too angsty. I finished because I was curious but it was tough.
Great read with lots of action. There are a few weak spots in the book but overall you will be glad that you picked up this story.
Mulvaney has an image of being tough and her feelings are deeply buried by prior hurts. However she will go to the wall to protect her family and friends. Easton has loved her for a very long time and he will let her run for awhile, but he will eventually claim what is his.
Mulvaney has worked with and for Easton, Drew and their father in their oil business for years, until one day the business is sold to a competitor. Accusations begin to fly, secrets are kept until they start to unravel, feelings are hurt and the truth is buried deep.
This book sort of ends on a cliffhanger. It was hard to put down, but I had to sleep so that I could read more. I look forward to reading more in this series.
WOW! I couldn’t put this book down! More twists and turns and many unanswered questions, but I still loved it! Really looking forward to reading more from this author.
I looked the book but I skipped over the steamy parts. It was different, interesting, surprising, great characters, intriguing, and happy ever after.
HEARTBREAKER is like a roller coaster. It takes time to get up the first hill, but the anticipation of what is to come builds. Once it reaches the peak, the adventure pours out in front of us with twists and turns – some we anticipated and others we didn’t.
Easton has the patience of a saint. That’s the kind of rock every woman needs in her life. Mulaney I didn’t feel a kinship with during the story, but she matches Easton in her work ethic, commitment to family and the passion she has for Easton.
I enjoyed the book. I do want to find out what happens to other characters like Holly, Gabriel, Drew and Carlos.
Oh my gosh, this series just gets better and better. I loved the chemistry – both hot and cold – between Evan and Mulaney. And the Grandmamas were just too cute. Yes, there’s a lot of meddling which in real life irritates the crap out of me, but it’s almost appropriate in the context of this story. I hope that at some point, we will learn what happens to that dastardly brother. I can’t wait to delve into the next one.
Secrets, suspense and sizzling chemistry will keep you on the edge of your seat, flipping the pages to figure out what is going on…will Easton and Mulaney make it thru all of this? Loved it!! I volunteered an honest opinion for this book.
3.5 read
This series is highly recommended. Even though this isn’t one of my favourites in the series, I did enjoy Easton and Mulaney’s story.
The problem for me was that Easton carried the story. He was confident, sexy and loyal and loved Mulaney unconditionally. But in comparison Mulaney seemed cowardly and afraid to commit. I loved her in previous books, she was sassy, but wanted to shake her In this one.
But when she was true to herself and her feelings, these two were amazing.
Strong secondary characters get you invested and wanting to read more about their stories.
Lots of twists and a good plot.
Worth the read as part of an amazing series.
I received an ARC, but voluntarily chose to review
I’ve been so excited to read Mulaney and Easton’s story. We’ve been getting sneak peaks at them in both Three Dates and Righting our Wrongs.
Mulaney and Easton have known each other since they were kids, and they became co-workers when they began working at Carter Energy. At the beginning of the book, I thought for sure it would be a workplace romance novel, but I was pleasantly surprised it took a different path.
I feel a little like this story isn’t quite complete yet and I hope some of the blanks are filled in when I read Dangerous Redemption.
I enjoyed this story about Easton and Mulaney. I can’t say it’s as much as rest of the series, but still worth the read. The mysteries and secrets make it worth it.
Such strong emotions!
4,5 stars
This series is so intense, so strong and evoke so many deep and raw emotions.
This book is no different. This is a standalone, but it’s also part of the Paths to Love Series, and I totally recommend you read the previous books. They are all breathtaking.
We’ve met Easton and Mulaney before, but we saw more about Mulaney and her family, the Jacobs. She is such a troublemaker. She is driven, independent, strong, she never backs down and she is stubborn as hell. She is also loyal, caring and she stops at nothing to protect someone she loves.
But she’s also vulnerable and she carries such a big secret that has been consuming her so much, because of though she loves what she is hiding, she is so scared of aknowledging it.
Luckily she’s met her match, and Easton won’t make it easier for her to run away from her secrets, her feelings and their connection.
Easton is loyal and driven as well. He is also fair, patient and a family man. He does everything for the people he loves and he carries all the burdens that are thrown at him if that means his family will be ok.
And if there is one thing he knows how to do is love. Just like Mulaney, he loves with everything he’s got, but opposite from her, he is not afraid of being vulnerable about, and that is exactly his strength.
They were always bumping heads, going around and around their love, their chemistry and so many information that threw them off course. Being surrounded by secrecy, it was hard for them to know what was the truth, but their hearts always spoke louder.
But, my God, they needed to improve their communication. There was so much at stake, but at the end of the day, when it was clear that love and family are supposed to be the priority, they knew what should be done.
They were volatile together, they antecipated each other’s needs, they were a wonderful team. They were stronger apart, but they were invencible together.
This book had so many emotions swirling around, I laughed, I felt anger, I got frustrated, I was aghasted, I was afraid, I felt such a deep connection, I was intrigued and I rooted so much for them.
Another thing that I loved about their story (and this series shows this a lot) was how close they were to their families. It was wonderful to watch, they were all supportive, they all loved fiercely and it fillled my heart with love.
Once I started it I couldn’t put it down. The twists & turns on their story that kept me flipping the pages for more. Mulaney & Easton had great banter and chemistry.
Can’t wait to read more by Grahame Claire. I voluntarily reviewed an ARC of this book.
4 STARS
Grahame Claire is a phenomenal writer! Heartbreaker is another MUST read in the Paths to Love Series. Mulaney is a smart, stubborn and feisty character that is full of pride. Easton wears his heart on his sleeve when it comes to her. I fell in love with this couple and their journey. The added bonus that kept me entertained was having their family make many appearances throughout the book. Secrets are uncovered that I didn’t see coming.
Although this is book three in the Paths to Love Series, it can be read as a standalone. I highly recommend reading this book! Heartbreaker by Grahame Claire will join the ranks of the BIBLIO-ELITE!!!
= 4.5
I honestly enjoy all Grahame Claire’s books! I was excited to see the next book was Mulaney’s story but to be honest I thought Mulaney was partnering with someone else and not Easton! This was a great surprise!
I love the chemistry between Mulaney and Easton and her quick wit is always amazing to witness in the books.
Mulaney finds herself in an all mans business world she needs to make sure she keeps her persona a certain why so she is taken seriously at all times. Raised with brothers and a strong family dynamic she is no one to mess with. She is strong and her personality will set you straight when needed.
After several years living the business life and climbing the corporate ladder, their just might be space for change in her life. She may welcome someone finally into her heart but will her stubbornness be so open to it…
Easton has been in love with Mulaney since they were kids. He has given her space to grow and keep rejecting him but he’s had enough. He is on a mission to make it clear to her, they belong together and will stay together.
The story is full of twist and turns and tons of suspenseful moments. The situation with Drew kind of left me hanging… I honestly felt after going so far, will he really let it go that easy…?
Next up is Holly story which is linked to Drew I’m curious if his saga will continue into hers and Carlos story..
I’m looking forward to the next one!!!
Loved It!
I absolutely LOVED Mulaney and Easton!! These two and their colorful families kept me turning pages insistently, It was so nice to revisit old friends too.
I read a free copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving my review.
Great read – fantastic characters – interesting plot!
After reading two previous books in the series I couldn’t ask for less. This book is exactly what I wanted it to be and more. I completely haven’t expected Mulaney’s story to be the way it has been plotted and presented in this book.
Story of two stubborn people, stubborn because of different reasons. They are headstrong and successful and got feelings for each other but were afraid to act on the chemistry and strong connection between them. I really loved the villain in this story and how all the lies were so said that no one could easily find the source and the reasoning. Twists and turns were just perfect for this story line and made all the events and circumstances even more enticing. Great read that I can’t recommend enough.
The cover is brilliant. Suited men are always a welcome sight! The story itself began in an interesting fashion. It felt like there was something simmering under the surface. Easton and Mulaney are constantly at odds with each other and I suspected that there was something more there, something the other characters didn’t know about. So when Easton dropped the bombshell to everyone, I was thinking to myself… whoomp, there it is!
The beginning of the story, for me personally, felt slow. There was a great deal of information and detail that had an important place in the story but the pace and the hidden past made things feel like they were dragging on. I think about half way through the story, the plot picked up its pace. I did enjoy the entertaining interactions between the main protagonists and their families, particularly Mulanely and her relatives. The large family is always in each other’s business and it’s endearing how much they care and are there for each other. There is also deception taking place but the question is who is actually carrying out the deceit?
This story had everything: meddling families trying to play cupid, a stubborn heroine with some insecurities, a patient hero who is determined to get what he wants and plot twists to keep you guessing. There are many barriers for Easton and Mulaney and not always barriers they created for themselves. It was a good story about how you should never give up on what you want. While your mind battles against you, your heart often knows what you really need.
