Soulmates. I believe in them. I was lucky enough to have two of them at one point. The only problem. My soulmates happened to be twin brothers. Cameron was the light to Caden’s dark. And after all that I had been through, the light was what I thought I needed. When I chose Cameron, I lost Caden.Feeling like half a person after Caden left, I barely survived when tragedy struck and I lost Cameron … tragedy struck and I lost Cameron too.
It took me years to admit to myself that I had chosen wrong from the beginning. I’m ready to admit it to Caden…only problem, he hates me.
I’m ready to fight for my happily ever after.
But there’s a reason they call him the Heartbreak Prince.

*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
C.R. is getting really good at writing these emotionally wrenching romances!! This start to a new series is totally awesome. Everly is starting a new elite school after recovering from a horrific accident though the details about the past come out slowly during flashbacks which fill in the gaps at just the right moment. Bouncing between then and now we get a heart wrenching story of a poor girl grows up with rich twins as her BFF’s. Things are great until they hit their teens then things get dangerous. Stuck between the two of them she makes choices she later regrets sucking you into her world. I couldn’t stop reading it once I got started. I cannot wait for book two! I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
Jackson and Everly’s story is an emotional rollercoaster of deception and secret enemies pretending to be the light of the story. Jackson is an asshole with a massive chip on his shoulders but a heart of gold. He’s always being compared to his twin.
I was heartbroken by the truth of how evil someone can be to his own family. Wow.
Everly is very sweet and innocent, and my heart goes out to her. I think that she needed to stand up for herself more and not just accept things. Everly silence causes her to suffer.
This story teaches us that sometimes bad things happen, and when you think you are finally free of the bad, something worse happens. You have to speak up and fight for yourself.

STORY:
I don’t know how to feel. It was ok, but it gave me a treadmill effect as well where I feel like I am running in the same spot and not going anywhere with Everly. I also felt so discombobulated with Jackson, Caiden and Everly. I don’t feel my issue is with the twins, it was more with Everly.
The story goes from present to past, throughout the story, which ironically the past is not that far in the past, and it was leading up to the present. I felt through Everly’s sections, I could not relate or connect with her. It could be the audio version because I just didn’t get why the narrator did both characters because they did not do it well. Jackson’s emotions were all over the place and that injected the story a bit with a few exciting seems. Caiden, not sure how I felt since he couldn’t speak for himself but in the flashbacks of the past he came off manipulative to me.
The story was good it was just the characters for me that had me feeling a little annoyed. It didn’t get me excited to the point where I am craving the second book to read.
SEXUAL CHEMISTRY:
Sex scenes were satisfactory really don’t have any issues there.
SECONDARY CHARACTERS:
I really liked Landry, the guy that really liked Everly and Lane, the girl she got close with.
OVERALL:
It was ok for me, not wowed by it as it was mainly the characters that I felt I just couldn’t fully connect with.

****I don’t equate these stories to real life. It’s about personal taste and what you would or want to tolerate with the books you read. I know we all have different opinions and preferences with what we read. I based my book reviews on my preferences and what I like, and while these preferences may not be the same for others, I hope this review was still helpful.
This was my first book by this author, and to be honest I’m not sure how I stumbled onto her.
Heartbreak Prince pulled me in the very first chapter. Everly just wants to keep her head down, work hard, and go to the college that was connected to Rutherford Academy, she was thriving for a better life than she had growing up.
Jackson is a player on the football field and off, and not the type to hand his heart over, he’s the guy that all the guys want to be friends with, and the girls would do anything to have a chance with him.
This book goes between the past and the present which I’m not always a fan of but this author pulled it off brilliantly. With that being said, you learn that the connection that Everly had with Jackson and Caiden started at a young age.
Jackson and Emery have a connection that is magnetic, a pull between them that makes them gravitate towards one another without even meaning to, but after not seeing one another for 2 years and mountains of pain, blame, and hate between them the moments are filled with hate filled tension that they can’t seem to get past.
I loved the twists and turns, and the parts from the past that are well placed to bring things into perspective and answers some questions while at times bringing more questions to swirl around in your head.
The thing is, I love bully romance but generally the heroine has a spine and goes head to head with the anti-hero, that wasn’t the case in this book. Everly basically bowed down to Jackson, and never once did she stand up for herself or put him in his place. She was wishy washy, in her head she knew what she needed to do, but when it came to it she was weak.
So this was my first read/listen of the Broken Hearts Academy duet by CR Jane. I have read other CR Jane books so I knew she would be pulling and twisting our heartstrings, like she always does I was pleasantly surprised about the subject/nuances in this book because we don’t always get a story that shows the darkness and hardships that come with mental health besides depression and anxiety. Not selling those short, but I haven’t come across a lot of books with a character suffering a different mental illness (I won’t spoil it but it is revealed not long into the book). I thought that to me made it more realistic, especially since I had an aunt who suffered that same illness along with bi-polar disorder and she would go through some of the episodes mentioned in Heartbreak Prince. I commend CR for being real and honest with this. I will say that I was not a fun of the MC to be honest. I don’t think she can redeem herself in my eyes, in terms of how she treated the different brothers. You can’t just substitute one for the other and think it will be ok. I was surprised how my opinion of the guys changed throughout the book, another kudo to CR Jane for not shying away from abuse (not going to say more, you will just need to read and listen to find out). Just be prepared for some triggers, if you have any, since there is tough topics in this book. I will say the ending was a shock and I am excited to read book 2 because I didnt expect that to happen haha.
Honestly though, the narration wasn’t my favorite. I didnt think Courtney provided the correct inflections in some instances and was slow and repetitive with her performances. I think for me speeding it up to 1.4-1.5X made it ok, which is why I bumped it up to a 3 stars for the performance. I didnt feel like I had to stop listening (some narrators do that to me, I can be a snob sometimes I’ll admit) but I think she just didnt make it exciting or compelling, which is not what you want from a narrator.
Overall I would give this story a shot as long as you can listen to the narration (try speeding it up, it helps). I definitely will be checking out book 2 of this duet, I need to know what happens next
Once again I went into this book not knowing what to expect. It didn’t take long to see that it was going to be another hard hitter. Everly, our MFC, was torn between childhood loyalty and redemption. Life after the big bad could have been so much easier if she had just come clean but she was so worried about what would break she didn’t care that it was breaking her.
It would have been easy to call her weak and leave it at that, but she was far from weak. She was virtually incapable of putting herself first, so blinded by the fact that these boys had been all she had she couldn’t bring herself to do something that could be all ending.
Beyond the power of the story, these characters have a depth that seems bottomless. Even when I got to the end I kept waiting for a turnaround, because even with all the cards on the table I was looking for a certain redemption. The characters were written so well that you still felt for the worst of them. It’s a series that will leave you torn but it will be well worth it.
Where did this author come from? I am in Heaven. I LOVED this book!!!!! I am an addict. I did not see that coming when I first started this book. I loved Jackson with all of my heart. And Everly, man, she couldnt catch a break could she? I want to make this review super long and detailed but Heartbreak Lover is calling me right now. I NEED TO READ IT. SUCH A GOOD BOOK. ALSO CAN WE SAY SUPER DUPER HOT SMOKING FIRE COVER??
This book surprised me. It isn’t the type of romance I normally read and after reading the synopsis, I thought it was just a love triangle gone wrong. It is so much more than that. The dynamic between Everly (FMC) and the twins Caiden and Jackson is complex, layered, and sweet and dark at the same time.
The story is told in split perspective and also bounces back between time frames. I found myself completely compelled by the stories of the past, where their relationships developed and transformed. To give away any spoilers would ruin the experience of uncovering the truth of these dynamic relationships. This story is hot and steamy, but also haunting and bittersweet. You can’t help but sympathize with Everly, who can’t seem to catch a break.
And that cliffhanger!!!!
You can feel the heartbreak and torture throughout this entire story. C.R. Jane weaves a beautiful story of friendship and love and obsession. It had this almost Gothic-style love story feel to it. And it was so good.
The feelings run deep in this one. We meet a young Everly dealing with her own issues in their unforgiving town. Enter the twins, just about six months older than her, but everything she isn’t. They’re popular and rich and have these magnetic personalities. They swoop into her life, two young knights in armor that shines very differently.
Caiden, with his dark hair and tan skin, is all sunshine and lighthearted fun. Jackson, with his blonde hair and blue eyes, is all broody and intense. Fraternal twins, opposites, and both falling for the same girl. And who is Everly to choose?
And just like their appearances, nothing is what it seems. This story is filled with love that is all-consuming. There is jealousy and anger and suspicion and guilt. There is also need and desire and passion and hope. And that cliffhanger! I can’t wait to continue the story in Heartbreak Lover!
Wow, this was such a good book! This is the first book I’ve ever read by C. R. Jane, and I was so impressed by the author’s writing style and storytelling. And the cliffhanger? Ugh! I’m going straight to Heartbreak Lover, because I just can’t wait to see what happens! Definitely recommended!
OMG…this book was so intense and so well written. It’s really hard to get lost in a book when there are lots of grammatical errors. I definitely did not have any problems with this book. I comment C.R Jane as this book had a it all. I didn’t have any problems with grammar, storyline, or story being incomplete (not enough information or not stopping with a cliffhanger when it would have been better to continue as story was too short). Heartbreak Prince has all the twist and turns that keep you hooked and the ending while a cliffhanger (good kind) was done in such a way that you know you need to read the next book ASAP!! I loved this story about Everly, Jackson, and Caiden. I am so vested in this story that I am behind Everly hoping and praying she finds her HEA. Jackson and Caiden both so different from each other and you get the sense of who they are and their characters’ personalities and morals. I am convinced this is one of the best books I have read. I am very highly recommending Heartbreak Prince and will tell you that you don’t want to miss out on Heartbreak Prince or Heartbreak Lover (may not have read yet but I know it will be epic just from cliffhanger alone). This duet is a MUST READ!! I am going to be checking out more books by CR Jane as soon as I am done with Heartbreak Lover as I can tell by her voice as a writer that she will be a fave! Hope you enjoy as much as I did. Just be prepared for lots of surprises and feeling so many emotions. Don’t start reading thinking you will read a little just before you bed or in between things as you will not want to stop reading it and will either be up all night or late for anything else you need to do! So make sure you have time to read and finish it.
I needed this book, the minute I found out that it was going to be a thing.
And holy wow, this blew me away.
The volatility between the characters, the competition, the drive. But there’s more lurking below the surface, and even more secrets to be exposed, truths to be ironed out, and I am here for it!
No one is who they seem to be, but also exactly who you think they might be. Maybe.
I’ve already asked, but I have to ask again. Can I have book 2 NOW?
This is the first book in the Broken Hearts Academy series, and the story of Caiden, Jackson, and Everly. When brothers Caiden, and Jackson came to Everlys defense when she was young, they become the best of friends. When tragedy strikes, and their world explodes, Everly may lose both them. This was an emotional read, well written, and I was glued to the pages. This was intense, dark, twisted, raw, gritty, emotional, and dramatic. I can’t wait to read the next book!
Heartbreak Prince is the first of two books in C.R. Jane’s Broken Hearts Academy Duet. This was an intriguing quick read about twin brothers and the girl they both fell in love with.
Everly had a tough childhood in an unstable home, but she did whatever she could to survive. She was the girl all other kids picked on. When she was 8 years old, when new to her school twin brothers Caiden and Jackson came to her defense after witnessing her being bullied. They became her champions; her protectors – or so it may appear that way. The brothers were like night and day; one shinned as bright as sunlight, while the other was engulfed in darkness. One loved with tenderness, while the other loved with anger. One whose demons were exposed, while the other was a monster in disguise.
The story takes place over a span of few years, where the friendship between the three remained intact until tragedy tore them apart. Throughout the story we see the progression of Everly, Caiden and Jackson’s relationship become a tangled web of feelings and emotions of hidden truths and exposed lies. Protectors become tormentors feeding on your insecurities to manipulate your way of thinking and seeing things. Sometimes become so blinded by the rays of the sun that we fail to see the truths hidden in the dark.
WARNING: This books ends with a cliffhanger. The second book, Heartbreak Lover, comes out September 17th.
This is an amazing bully romance that grabs your heart in a vice from the very first chapter and keeps squeezing until that surprise ending. This story is brutal, heartbreaking and emotionally raw. This book is beautifully written in dual points of view giving us an inside look into this couple. This story hurts but it feels so good. I was very pleasantly surprised by this book and gladly give it 5 stars. I need the next book in this duet now!!
Single handedly the best highschool bully romance I’ve read this year! These twists are like dagger to my heart. Every time I think I know, C.R. Jane slams my head into a wall with a new turn!
Straight up pain, humiliation and destruction all masked with love and loyalty.
The struggle between twins brothers is real and neither of them know what they are doing. Poor Everly, she’s already had a rough childhood, it’s just her horrid luck that her saviours turn into the flame that burns her to the ground.
Cannot wait for the next book!!
When you read a book and it blows all expectations out of the water. I wasn’t expecting all the emotion that came with these characters. I devoured it. It’s the first book I’ve read from this author and the cliff hanger at the end has me desperate for more. A brilliant 5 read
How am I just hearing about this series now!! Once I started reading this book there was no way I was putting it down.
Everly has been through so much at an early age and when her two protectors come into her life, there is no way she is letting them go. But as it was, feelings start growing and she must choose between the brothers. After an accident ruins everything she must learn to watch her own back.
When she finds herself entering the school they were all supposed to be at together, she is found being bullied and must learn to navigate her feelings for the one she once loved.
Can she learn to put the past behind her and be happy again?
This book will take you for a wild ride of emotions, and you will be wanting more when you are finished. You can feel the author’s passion for writing through the pages. I can’t wait to get my hands on the next one!!!
This book was very intense from the narrators prospective. The anticipation of what’s going to happen, kept me glued to the book page after page. The lead character Everly, really needed to toughen up for herself. She played the wallflower way to long in the book. I like how Landry was introduced into her life. Lane was a good friend too. Caiden and Jackson really had some issues that played out well in the book. I voluntary reviewed this ARC after receiving a free gifted copy.
Heartbreak Prince (Broken Hearts Academy #1) by C.R. Jane
5 STARS
Heartbreak Prince is the first book in the Broken Hearts Academy series by author C. R. Jane and it’s written in dual POV.
I finished this book days ago, but I couldn’t gather myself. My heart was broken to pieces. This book broked me. It was so unexpectedly good.
The book is so well written and different from the others bully romances I have read.
Caiden & Jackson are twins. They move to Everly’s town and quickly become her knights in shining armor. They both fell in love with her, but every love story is complicated. All three of them shared a special bond, but everything changes when the feelings started to change and grow in something else, something difrent than friendship. Love & heartbreak.
You HAVE to read this book.
I loved this book. I am DYING for the next book. I can’t wait to read it and find out what will happen.
It was my first read from this author, but it definitely won’t be my last.
