“I’ll ruin us,” Jackson whispered to me in the dark. Monsters exist. I’d seen that firsthand. Beautiful faces could hide the most tainted souls, that much I knew for sure. I’d said goodbye to Jackson Parker, desperate to save myself once and for all, but old habits die hard. Every kiss, every touch, every word he’d given me felt imprinted on my skin. But when a monster from the past comes back, … monster from the past comes back, I’ll have no choice but to reveal the secrets from our shared history.
I need Jackson to be my hero, but he has his own scars, and I don’t know if we can conquer the past.
Heartbreak Prince or lover? There’s a fine line between the two.
I once said I would love him forever, but at what price does forever cost?
Maybe my very soul…
The Highly-Anticipated Conclusion to the Broken Hearts Academy Duet
more
I’ve never hated a character as much as I do Caiden the snake. Here you have a story full of abuse, deception, and manipulation. Caiden is the angel that can do no wrong. He has everyone fool.
I was angry that no one was on Everly’s side to protect her. Jackson was so full of hate that he was blind to everything going on. By the time the truth came out, I don’t think Jackson had done enough to be forgiven by Everly.
Everly forgave too quickly and came off as weak. She kept coming up with excuses to stay silent and blame herself for the way things turned out. She was always waiting for Jackson to be her hero. Everly only had eyes for Jackson.
I think that Jackson and Everly complete each other. They survived a terrible situation, and their love stood firm, and now they are happy together.
This story deals with serious situations that people respond differently to. The author did a great job of giving us a way of seeing things from her perspective, giving us a terrific duet with a happy ending.
This is book 2 in the Broken Hearts Academy duet, and must be read after Heartbreak Prince.
I enjoyed book 1, and while this book was ok, I felt there were some pieces of the puzzle missing, and there was no growth in the characters.
I’m glad that Jackson and Everly came back to one another in what felt like a much healthier relationship than they had previously had, but she still showed she didn’t have a backbone, and that didn’t happen until well into the book. I had wished her character would show some growth and become a stronger person, but that wasn’t the case.
There was mystery and suspense woven in the pages, but as I came to the end of the book I found that I was still left with some questions, and a few elements that just didn’t quite add up.
*Spoilers below, from here down read at your own risk*
There should have been more on the Melanie situation, it was left pretty vague, and you would think someone would have known about her considering what she says. There was also no follow up information on what comes from the situation with her.
Caiden was another element of the story that was left too vague to actually be able to draw a conclusion on how they got to the point they were at. He obviously didn’t become a psychopath over night, and yet not one person had any inclination that he was some devious manipulative psycho. He wakes up from a coma that we never really get an explanation as to why he’s in one then he basically goes right back to his psycho ways.
There’s also the whole thing with Landry that was a whole different disaster. She starts dating this guy 3 months after she ends things with Jackson who is allegedly her soul mate. She basically strings him along, and screws around with Jackson whenever the opportunity presents. Something happens, Caiden is there to rescue her, Jackson gets his revenge, but then other information is given, and I guess the only thing that becomes clear is that Everly is a psycho magnet.
I wish characters had been more fleshed out, and shown some growth in this second book. I liked the premise of the storyline, but as much as this is fiction and some elements of them are unbelievable I don’t think that pertains to the whole basis of the storyline as with this one.
Once again I went into this book not knowing what to expect. It didn’t take long to see that it was going to be another hard hitter. Everly, our MFC, was torn between childhood loyalty and redemption. Life after the big bad could have been so much easier if she had just come clean but she was so worried about what would break she didn’t care that it was breaking her.
It would have been easy to call her weak and leave it at that, but she was far from weak. She was virtually incapable of putting herself first, so blinded by the fact that these boys had been all she had she couldn’t bring herself to do something that could be all ending.
Beyond the power of the story, these characters have a depth that seems bottomless. Even when I got to the end I kept waiting for a turnaround, because even with all the cards on the table I was looking for a certain redemption. The characters were written so well that you still felt for the worst of them. It’s a series that will leave you torn but it will be well worth it.
OMG…Heartbreak Lover was so intense and had so many twist and turns that it is one very wild ride. So many secrets and lies are revealed. Heartbreak Prince is the second book in the Broken Hearts Academy Duet. Heartbreak Lover can’t be read alone, you must read both books to get the full story. Everly was in for so much heartache and one shock after another.just when you think an event went one way you find out things were not what them seemed. Things had a bad habit of going sideways for Everly and Jackson. There was so many broken things between them that things seemed so hopeless. Caiden tried hiding his true self after waking up from the coma he was in for two years and slowly his true self was revealed. It was a shock to both Everly and Jackson but Caiden had so many people fooled that they had a hard tome getting people to help them. Jackson‘S and Caiden’s parents bought all of his lies. I don’t want to give anything away or spoil anything for you. The ending was a complete shock and yet not. C.R. Jane did an excellent job with this tale of two twin brothers and the girl they both loved. C.R. also included a bonus scene from Caiden’s POV that was not in the book. I absolutely recommend Heartbreak Lover to anyone who loves bully romances, enemies to lovers, or romances that are a little dark and twisted. I hope you will read this book and enjoy it as much as I do.
Can I just say thank you to the author for writing these books? The characters are written so well, the emotions you feel while reading are a real rollercoaster. Jackson & Everly are everything! Caiden is written so well you actually love to hate him. This series is on my must recommend list to anyone who loves the bully genre.
What a tragic, heartbreaking, sad and heartfelt ride. I was on the edge of my seat the whole time. This was such an amazing duet. It truly blew me away. I wasnt expecting to wholeheartedly LOVE it as much as I did. Jackson and Everly were freaking EVERYTHING. There were tons of awesome twists and turns but the most surprising of them all was sweet and crazy Caiden. That ending. Ahhh. Oh no. Actually Landy also shocked me too. Definitely won’t be my last of this author. LOVE this authors writing. I need these books in paperbacks! Everyobe needs to read them NOW! 5 stars.
*I received a free copy of this book which I voluntarily chose to write an honest review for.
OMG I was so not ready for how this book played out!! With everything that happened in book one I knew this one was going to be a doozy but I didn’t expect even half of this. Caiden is awake now and adds so much to what is going on. Jackson of course has his own issues but then he learns the truth about what happened in the past only to totally lose it. Poor Everly is stuck in the middle of all of this with someone trying to hurt her every time she turns around. Add all of the layers together and you get one emotional roller coaster that leads to an unexpected ending. A truly fantastic dark romance book that you will not be able to put down. I totally loved it so I give it 5/5 stars.
; .
Why???? Why did it have to end??
I just loved this book. This epic, time crossing , heartbreaking putting you back together, romantic story!
Jackson and Everly are the epitome of a star crossed lovers. Their love story is sad and heartbreaking and so full of action.
Whenever something happened and they managed to resolve it, something else happened. They can seem to catch a break and enjoy their time together.

. , , .
This book is packed with twists and turns that you could not forsee no matter what.
I love it! It kept me on alert throughout the reading.
This is the perfect conclusion for this duet and you can tell that c.r. put her heart into it.
“’ . ’ . ’ , , ’ ’ .”
There were some cheesy moments in it but it made me love it even more just because who doesn’t love some cheese with their crackers
There were times that I just wanted to kill Everly and shake her to make her see reason but… Everly is Everly what can you do
The scenes were hot as hell and made me sweat and fan myself, jesus Jackson
. . .
This is the second book in the Broken Hearts Academy series, and the continuation of Everly, Jackson, and Caiden’s story. This book takes you on an emotional roller coaster, as we pick up from where we left off in book one, and the punches keep coming. This was a great read, so many highs, and lows, this book left me raw, and broken. This was gritty, intense, twisted, heartbreaking, dramatic, and steamy. I highly recommend this duet.
‘HeartBreak Lover’ Is the second part of the HeartBreak duet by the best selling author C.R. James. Told in dual perspectives, this was one Raw bully Romance!
After reading the first book of this duet and that amazing cliffhanger , this book was one of my most anticipated reads! The plot was perfect and I loved the way the author Manipulated the storyline to make me feel every emotion the characters were feeling!
At first I thought this was going to be a regular bully romance , but it was so much more! I am truly shocked at how quickly this series became one of my most recommended ones. Jackson and Everly are in a league of their own and I loved every word that I had the pleasure of reading from their story! These two finally got their happily ever after and I couldn’t be more glad!
The story continues from where the first book ended. Caiden is finally awake from his two year long Coma and Everly is terrified what this is going to do to her relationship with Jackson. Jackson on the other hand is torn between being happy about his brother being alright and also being sad about him still loving Everly. Caiden’s character threw me in for a surprise. That twist was unexpected and so amazing!
This book was a perfect read for all the bully Romance lovers! Want to read a tale about a girl being stuck between two Twin brothers , then go for this book! It’s absolutely mind-blowing!
Tragic and beautiful!
Tragic and heartbreaking to the end. The conclusion of this duet had it all. And one thing that kept resonating for me with this story was the Gothic aspect, in that there was so much tragedy that surrounded Everly and Jackson’s love story that it just wasn’t a typical bully romance.
We pick up after someone from Jackson and Everly’s shared past comes back into their lives. Everly continues to be plagued by some of the worst luck in human history – being targeted by someone on campus intent on causing her physical harm and attracting some of the worst admirers.
The attraction between Everly and Jackson only grows stronger in this book until it just can’t be denied. And I for one am happy they don’t wait until the very end to figure that out. Learning the truth of what happened that fateful summer, Jackson has some groveling to do and…let’s say that redemption looks good on him.
In all, though aspects of this story were incredibly tragic, the story overall was beautiful. It’s good to remember sometimes that not all HEAs look the same and that without the darkness, there is no light.
This series just blew me away. Heartbreak Prince was my introduction to Bully Romance – it completely took me by surprise and left me wanting more! Heartbreak Lover is a fantastic follow-up/conclusion to Everly’s story.
After the cliffhanger of Heartbreak Prince, everything has changed. Jackson is determined to make Everly his, but she’s seemingly moved on. She can’t seem to escape his pull, his magnetism. But can she trust him?
A monster from her past comes back and only she knows the truth about what this person is capable of. Can she survive any more encounters with her tormentors? Will anyone believe her?
To say more would rob the reader of a heartbreaking journey that simultaneously leaves you aching and sated. Is this book steamy and sexy? Yes. Is there action? Yes. But the sum is greater than its parts and it was a wonderful series that opened my eyes to why people love this genre so much.
CR Jane Wow is all can say . So many emotions Throughout this book . The pain and sadness there were times I wanted to throw my phone . I couldn’t put this book it down . I am so glad it ended with happy ever after
I think I had a few heart attacks in this book. I felt so much pain and sadness. I was scared for Everly and Jackson. I screamed at Caiden. My heartbroke for Caiden the most i think. Even when he is all psycho crazy and kidnaping Everly i just felt so bad for him. He just wanted her to love him and he couldn’t get over the fact she loved his twin. If he wasn’t so obsessed with Everly i think he would have been a great boyfriend. But Everly loved Jackson with everything she had. He was her heart and she was his soul. And even when life kept throwing things at them. They kept finding each other. She really is the light in his darkness and I was kinda surprised he didn’t go black a few more times. But he pulled out of them for her. And i was so glad there was this great epilogue about how happy they finally are after everything. It was an beautiful, heartbreaking book and i would give it 10000 stars if i could.
“No one wants to believe in monsters, but I’ve seen firsthand that they exist.”
I LOVE words. There is nothing better than getting lost in a book that consumes your every being from the very beginning. That’s what Heartbreak Lover did to me. This book sucked me in so deep into the story that at times I had to pause and take a deep breath in order to calm my anxiety.
Heartbreak Lover picks upright where Heartbreak Prince ended. Now that Jackson, Everly and Caiden, find themselves back in the same place (same school) the relationship between the three become even more complex than it had been. There was so much darkness and toxicity surrounding them all, especially Everly. Not only did she have to deal with her own demons, she now had to worry about the demons in disguise that continued to haunt her.
“It’s not anything you do, Everly. There’s just something about you that drives a man to madness.”
Poor Everly could not catch a break. My heart broke for her. Everyone appeared to be after her just for being who she was. Everly was a fighter, but no matter how hard she fought, she couldn’t control her feelings for Jackson. Jackson was just as weak when it came to fighting his own emotions for Everly. The two of them existed for one another. Everly was the light that guided Jackson out of his darkness. Jackson would stop at nothing to get Everly –
“Because one thing was for sure. I loved my bother more than I loved myself. But I loved Everly James even more.”
Now let’s talk about Caiden. In Heartbreak Prince, we began getting glimpses as to who Caiden really was, but let me tell you – NONE and I mean NONE of those glimpses can even begin to cover the surface of how twisted Caiden is (I swear I’m getting anxiety all over again just typing this). You have got to be a special type of crazy to go to the extremes that he did. Caiden was a sociopath who didn’t care who he destroyed along the way. I never liked him. NEVER! There is so much I want to say about this, but I’m going to stop. I don’t want to say too much and ruin any misconceptions or predictions for anyone else. All I’ll say is that THIS BOOK IS GOING TO TEAR YOU APART IN SO MANY PIECES.
Heartbreak Lover is so much more than a Bully Romance. With heavy topics such as violence and abuse, it showcases the many different layers of mental illnesses. C.R. Jane delivered a complex, twisted, angsty, emotionally charged conclusion to this duet. I loved every second of it, especially the beautiful Epilogue that made me cry. This is definitely a top 2020 book for me.
Heartbreak Prince and Heartbreak Lover are the first two books I’ve ever read by C. R. Jane, and I was so impressed! Heartbreak Lover was the perfect finale for Jackson and Everly. It was filled with angst, jealousy, and drama, which I absolutely love in a book! I read the full duet in a day and a half, because they were both so hard to put down. I will definitely be reading more books by this author, and I highly recommend this duet.
Heartbreak Lover is the second book in the Broken Hearts Academy series. You need to read book one in the series first, as this one starts right where the other one left off.
Heartbreak Lover was a book I couldn’t put down. The first book left us in a cliffhanger, and I had to see what happened in this book.
Jackson, Caiden & Everly were friends since they were young. Both brothers fell in love with Everly. Everly dated Caiden, but realized he may have been the wrong brother for her. She still had feelings for Jackson. Then Caiden was in a coma and her feelings for Jackson evolved, and he fell for her hard.
So many twists and turns I wasn’t expecting. My heart felt for Everly, Jackson & Caiden. Secrets came out, and feelings were involved. Can Jackson keep Everly safe from the dangers lurking around the corners?
This was a great book and I really enjoyed this duet.
4.5 out of 5 stars
This book was a beautiful ending to an equally beautiful duet. This book kept my blood boiling and my heart raging through this whole book, hoping that everything would be ok. Will Everly and Jackson will get their happiness?
They all find themselves in a situation that they never thought would come to light. Jackson must learn who he can trust and fight through his bipolar episodes to keep her safe. Will he be able to figure out what happened in the past before it is too late?
Everly must find a way to move on in a way that is healing for herself, as she finds her past coming back to haunt her. Caiden won’t let her go, but the question is, will she be able to move on and save herself?
These characters are dynamic and leave nothing to the imagination! This book will take you on a wild ride of love, hate, and forgiveness. Loved this book and can’t wait to see what C.R. Jane comes up with next!
I feel like I need to start this review out by being honest and looking like a fool. I completely messed up and didn’t realize this was book two in a duet. A duet I didn’t read book one of.
When I finished Heartbreak Lover I was going to rate it 4 stars. I honestly couldn’t put my finger on it but something was missing. Clearly I now know what that something was. But I changed my mind on the rating because I didn’t realize I missed part of their story. C. R. Jane did a phenomenal job.
Jackson and Everly were absolutely meant to be together. They had this connection that ran soul deep. They had been friends almost their entire lives until something terrible happened and it broke the bond they shared, along the hearts and soul.
Heartbreak Lover was emotional and captivating. Their story was raw and gritty. I do wish we would have gotten a little bit more if Jackson’s mental disorders. I feel like it would have added this whole other level to the book. I’m sure there was a reason Jane did not do that and the glimpse we did get at it was accurate and raw.
Heartbreak Lover is a captivating, must read book. I imagine with book one it’s even better
So many feelings were invoked reading this book. Everly and Jackson’s love story isn’t the sweet story we are used to. There are lots of tough times along the way. Both have lived a lonely life. Jackson has a twin, but that doesn’t mean he doesn’t know loneliness. I definitely had tears had the end of this book . I absolutely adored this book.
