THE WIDOW’S PLIGHT By Mary Davis
5 stars April 11, 2019
A sensitive book about spouse and child abuse. You get to watch this fearful mother and son find, peace, joy and love in the new town, but will it last? Mary stitches together a sweet story just as the quilting group stiches the quilt together. Piece by piece, with kindness and love, this young mother, Lily truly blossoms! Beautiful!
FINDING LOVE IN LAST CHANCE, CALIFORNIA By Miralee Ferrell
5 stars Apr 24, 2016
I remembered the story shortly after starting it, so I confirmed that I had previously read it. Turns out I read this book three years ago. Unfortunately, I didn’t leave an initial review, but just a star rating.
So instead, here’s my review from the next book in this series:
Love Finds You in Tombstone, Arizona by Miralee Ferrell
5 stars May 9, 2016
I received this audiobook in exchange for a fair review!
While I didn’t particularly like the narrator in this book at first, she grew on me. She does a fine job doing all the voices for the different characters. I was especially fond of her Irish trill.
This book starts where Love Finds You in Last Chance, California leaves off. Christy Grey the saloon girl who was taken in by Alex in the last book has truly become a member of the family! Her sisterly love for Alex helps heal the love lost since her sister Molly passed away. Toby is the heart of the family and can’t stand the thought of Christy leaving. But Christy is pulled away from Last Chance at the request of her brother and ailing mother to Tombstone.
Will this transition give Christy a truly fresh start? All her hopes and dreams come crashing down when she and her fellow stagecoach travelers are robbed. Her brother is a gambler and her mother is terribly sick and living in a hovel. When left destitute will she return to her saloon past? Can her life get any more difficult? Is there in hope for her and her family?
A wonderful tale of trials and tribulations! Only true love could survive the hardships this book lays out!
Christy is faced with the apparent outlaw who has more chivalry then most gentlemen. She is constantly confused if he’s a good man or evil! Will she follow her heart or see just the outside version of Nevada? Another wonderfully written story of true love by Miralee Ferrell! Her attention to detail had me hearing the coughing of Christy’s mother and smelling the scents of the horrid men of the saloon! Only God can bring her back to him and only he can help her to love again! Thank you Miralee for another brilliant tale of the Old West and the truth of God’s hand in our lives! I look forward to reading more of her gritty yet sweet romance books set in the Old West!
DREAMS OF MY HEART by Barbara Scott
5 stars April 21, 2019
What an incredible and difficult journey this couple traversed to find true love! This book covers sexual and physical abuse, but keeps it mostly in the readers imagination. This is definitely a strong Christian book filled with sinners sinning and God redeeming and reconciling them! There’s absolutely nothing predictable about this marriage or the crazy man who’s against it! I was kept on pins and needles wondering how they were going to get out of one situation after another! Barbara is a new author to me and I will surely be reading more of her books! Looks like there might be a lead in to a series, so I’m looking forward to reading more!
HILLS OF NEVERMORE By Janalyn Voigt
5 stars April 24, 2019
Another winning book! A lot of pain, suffering, travesty, sin, and loss bring two widows with children into the wilds of Idaho and true love both worth fighting for and waiting for. Janalyn brings a variety of issues to the story including faith in oneself over faith in God, fleeing from His grace and forgiveness, step parenting, grief, vigilanty justice, trials of the wagon train, terrors of living in mining camps, gold rush mentality, and more! A wonderful book, I’d love to listen to in audio!
Aug 21-25, 2017 read as the Heart of a Cowboy Collection
HEARTS IN PURSUIT by Susan Page Davis
This was such a wonderful story! I loved the unique tale of them rescuing their younger siblings from the outlaws! Nothing like trials and terrors to bring a couple together!
HEARTS REUNITED by Miralee Ferrell
A beautiful tale of how regret and unforgiveness can harper a relationship that was meant to be! Such a wonderful ending!
HAVE DRESS, WILL MARRY by Yvonne Lehman
Another perfect ending! I think this book was a bit choppier as in the details weren’t there as the story progressed, maybe a bit was to be assumed, and I just felt like I missed a paragraph or two along the way. BUT, I loved this cute story and laughed out loud several times! The twists of word meanings and misunderstandings were hilarious!! Especially at the first proposal!! Yvonne is a new author to me, and I look forward to trying out some of her other books soon!!
THE HAND-ME-DOWN HUSBAND by Vickie McDonough
The perfect way to end this anthology! I can’t say which book was my favorite, because I loved them all! I’m tickled with this last one though! I’d hate to say too much, but you don’t want to miss this one! I giggled through the tale, and enjoyed every minute of it!!
