A gut wrenching story between a sheriff and former drug addict, who lost her husband and son but is trying to stay clean and make amends with the help of supportive caring individuals in the small community of Rios Azul. Alexa Verde weaves a page turning story with believable afflicted characters, small town setting, and satisfying resolution. A timely story in this era of opioid addiction.
A wonderful story of second Chances in life and God’s unconditional love. There was a lot on addiction. This romance had great characters and some suspense. I loved it!
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
Important and hard themes in this book: Rodrigo losts his wife and the lost hurts much, Emma was a drugs addicted and she fights over them every day to be clean.
the writer did a good job writing this book, every day we must have faith and strenght to deal all our battles, and win to have peace, love.
The characters in this story present the way that current or recovering drug addiction affects the lives of the addict and their family, friends, jobs, hopes and dreams. It also shows the grief that addicts cause when they harm others due to their addiction. This book brings all this together in a story that makes me champion the characters as they learn to lean more on God and seek his will and strength daily. The subject is difficult, but the book is wonderful to read, with love and redemption being the result. (I was given an advanced copy of this book in return for my honest opinion.)
This book drew me right in and kept me guessing!
This book starts off with a beginning that draws you in immediately. The characters are different than you might expect—a Sheriff, and an ex-drug abuser; but they are both Christians, as this story begins. You can expect to be kept guessing, as the story unfolds; and you will likely be surprised at the ending. Grab it, quickly, and read it!
Heart Unbroken is one of the best books I’ve read this year! WOW what a powerful story of addiction and the struggles after a person leaves that world. Suspense was the best and I was so surprised when I found out who wanted Emma dead. Love when an author can keep me guessing. Love story was beautiful but most of all Gods love was so strong throughout the whole book and forgiving your enemies!
I highly recommend this book to any Christian reader.
I received a complimentary copy and in no way required to write a review. All opinions are my own.
I have read several of Alexa Verde’s books, and enjoyed them all.
This one is a huge WOW….powerful story of recovery, hope, forgiveness, faith and love.Emma is first introduced in Season of Joy, and this brings her story to us in all it’s struggles full blown. It is a very heart wrenching look into the life of a recovering addict It truly hits all the highs and lows of the emotions people go through when an individual has addiction problems, from the addict themselves to the loved ones all around them.
This particular story touched me on a deeply personal level, and I will be forever grateful to Alexa Verde for giving us this emotional true to life novel.
