Hire Alice. Private Investigator of the Supernatural.
Alice Isn’t Running Anymore.
Five years ago, mage private investigator Alice Worth escaped her grandfather Moses Murphy’s organized crime syndicate. Now, her grandfather’s war with local boss Darius Bell has drawn her out of hiding and put her in the crosshairs of two merciless crime lords. Her decision to intervene in their war has endangered … merciless crime lords. Her decision to intervene in their war has endangered everyone Alice cares about and threatens to destroy the life she’s built for herself, including her relationship with alpha werewolf Sean Maclin.
Meanwhile, Alice’s new case is the most dangerous of her career. Hired to find a missing child with a rare magical ability, she and her ghost sidekick Malcolm quickly become targets for the boy’s ruthless kidnappers. To stay alive and free from both Bell and Moses, she must rely not only on her growing powers but also her alliances with Sean’s pack and the Vampire Court.
When Alice’s conflicts with pack members turn violent and the Court betrays her, the truth becomes clear: freeing the kidnapped boy and finding her place in the pack will cost Alice her secrets, her safety, and—if she isn’t careful—her life.
“Lisa Edmonds has made an instant fan of me. I look forward to reading the next case that requires Alice’s special set of skills.” – The Reading Cafe
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
Q: Why do you write?
A: I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was five years old and I wrote my first story. My head is always full of stories and it’s so wonderful and such a privilege to get to share them with others. I write because I *have* to write and because there’s nothing I love to do more. When you write, you get to bring people to life, create a world for them to inhabit, and invite readers to enjoy that world with you. If that’s not real magic, I don’t know what is.
Q: What books do you write?
A: I want to write the kinds of stories and books that I love to read–lots of adventure, mystery, suspense, action, twists, magic, and of course romance. The Alice Worth series is paranormal mystery set in a world very like our own, but with magic and supernatural beings. I hope readers get caught up in the mysteries and enjoy going on adventures with Alice as she tries to solve them and figure out her place in the world. The reading order follows below.
ALICE WORTH
- HEART OF MALICE (book 1)
- JUST FOR ONE NIGHT (short story)
- BLOOD MONEY (novella)
- HEART OF FIRE (book 2)
- HEART OF ICE (book 3)
- HEART OF STONE (book 4)
Q: Do you use music in your writing?
A: Yes! Each Alice Worth book has a curated playlist of songs featured in the novel, as well as other tunes that enhance your reading experience. Alice loves music and so do I! See the playlists at my website.

I fell under the spell…and nearly gave up on Alice
I started reading Heart of Stone and I thought that this story could be the turning point. I was already starting to compose (in my head) my email to Lisa Edmonds apologising for not being able to review her latest instalment. I was a bee’s whisker away from DNF’ing…and it was all because I fell victim to magic.
See, dear old Alice Worth has been putting up barriers from the very beginning. At first, it was to protect herself from harm. Then, as the people closest to her broke down her barriers a smidgen, she started pushing them away to protect them. I got it. Well, I got it as much as I understood her hesitations. But, eventually, it started to annoy me as much as it was annoying the people around her.
Come on Alice, we’ve learnt already that you are not the only one with the power. You are not the only one who’s faced baddies and survived. You are not the only one who regrets their past. So, when dear old Alice AGAIN started pushing everyone away including SEAN, I decided enough was enough. How could she not see that something was not right?? If Sean and I could…even Malcolm knew. My dearly beloved Sean didn’t deserve this anymore. I nearly gave up…
Luckily, I gritted my teeth and carried on.
I should have realised that Lisa Edmonds was just playing with her readers. Heart of Stone ended up being the turning point but just not in the way I originally imagined. If anything, instead of feeling like I need things to be cleared and finished up, I need more. I had an hour left to read and I was literally twitching in my seat. I needed to see the fight play out, but I was also dreading Heart of Stone coming to an end.
We meet some new characters in this instalment, and I can tell they are quickly going to become favourites. Secrets have finally been revealed and I loved having that burden removed from my shoulders…I mean Alice’s shoulders. Alice finally comes face to face with her past and I was pretty proud of her standing her ground and not giving in. I was a little frustrated with the attacks she faced because of her relationship with Sean. It was even more frustrating that we didn’t get to “see” Sean go berserk on them.
Heart of Stone was pretty long and at times felt a little too long. I really couldn’t tell you a single word that I wanted to remove to make it shorter, though. Each battle, discussion and introduction were crucial to the storyline. My heart was pumping numerous times with all the emotions I felt throughout. I was extremely frustrated at Alice…then at the pack…then at Charles… Valas… Delila… Lily… Moses… Darius and NORA!!!!! If you didn’t get my emotions from that last one…I WANT TO SEE NORA DEAD! Sorry, about my extremely emotional outburst, but she really needed a bloody fire mage to scorch her to kingdom come.
I ended up loving Heart of Stone and I may even go so far as saying that it was my favourite in the series. Lisa Edmonds is a master of her craft and I loved every word she wrote. I’m emotionally attached to her characters and every battle they face, I feel like I’m standing right alongside them.
If you’re looking for an entertaining story packed with magic, paranormal characters you can’t help but fall in love with, and a sigh-worthy romance, you can’t look past the Alice Worth series. I highly recommend and suggest…you need to start at the very beginning, a very good place to start.

Thank you to the author and publisher for my copy of this ARC.
If you have been following my blog, you may know that I am totally in love with Alice Worth and Lisa Edmonds’ writing.
Heart of Stone was just as great as the previous books. This was beautifully written.I would recommend reading the books in order. You could probably read it as a standalone, but you would miss all the juicy details leading to this book.
The tension in Alice’s world comes to a head in Heart of Stone. The action is riveting and kept me turning the page. I read the whole series plus this new book in a weekend! It was so good! This book blended all the conflict from the previous books. I enjoyed how it all ended.
Alice has some serious growth as a person, finally. She makes a conscious effort to include her friends, which I am really glad. I love her friends and want her to keep having adventures with her friends.
I feel like a broken record but I am super excited for the next one. Check out the rest of her books!
This is one of my favorite series and I have been looking forward to this next installment. I would advise reading the series in order. The author does a good job with little reminders and recaps, but the overall story is an ongoing one.
Alice is still changing and growing and more accepting of all the people she has in her life. Her relationship with Sean is going great, but she still struggles with the secrets she is keeping from him. When she takes a case involving a 12 year old boy who has disappeared, she is painfully reminded of her own past and she is adamant to save the child from the dangerous situation he is in.
Every book seems to get better and better. I loved Sean/Alice in this one. There is so much going on. With the pack, the vampire court and dangerous cabal business. The plot is thickening and I for one can’t wait to read the next. (May 2019)
Haha, just when you think things couldn’t get more complicated.
I love this series. I oh so ‘patiently’ waited for the fourth book to come out, and I guess now I gotta go through that process all over again. Looking forward to it.
I was hoping the fourth book would have more information on her real lineage, but I guess that’s one more thing to await for in the next book. Cannot wait.
Around 5 years ago Alice Worth escaped her grandfather Moses Murphy’s cabal and started a new life as a mage/private investigator. However, now is war with local crime boss Darius Bell has pulled her into the crosshairs and threatens to destroy everything and everyone she loves including her relationship with alpha werewolf Sean Marlin. Her new case is also her most dangerous when she struggles to find a missing child with unregistered magical ability. She will encounter pack violence, Vampire Court betrayal and as all her secrets come out in the open it isn’t just her personal life that is in danger but her life as well – can she make it out alive and with all her loved ones alive too?
There are a great many threads coming into play in this story as her past, present and future are all affected by the characters and events experienced in this book. Whilst everything was clear and easy to understand in this book it was very full on with some of the events happening. There was some violence in this section of Alice’s story and she does very well to hold herself together, her ideas and those she loves as she reveals more of the darkness that lies within herself. Sean must love her very much given some of the things he had to put up with in this story. In the end, it sets the promise for a lot of things to happen in the next instalment of the story.
I love the Alice Worth series. She’s a courageous heroine that does anything to keep those she loves and protects safe. Heart of Stone is gripping, suspenseful and full of magic and paranormal creatures. This book captured and held my attention clear to the gritty end.
**** No Spoilers ****
I love this series! This book is the best by far. Lisa has done an incredible job with the storyline. I was enthralled from the first page. This book is full of action, betrayal, love and secrets. Alice is one heck of an amazing woman. I found myself a little emotional close to the end. No cliffhanger ending. If you haven’t started the Alice Worth series, you need to read it now. If you are caught up on the series, start reading this book now.
•••••• I highly recommend this book/series! ••••••
~~ I was given an ARC copy of this book. This is my honest opinion. ~~
One of the best book series I’ve read in a long time. I couldn’t put it down and am in turmoil waiting for the next to be written.
