“The Alice Worth series quickly turned into a must-read series for me. As soon as you think you have a handle on what she can do, another level of power is revealed. She truly is a bad-ass and it’s amazing to witness what she can do. As with book one, I didn’t want to stop reading when the book ended. I look forward to seeing what book three will bring to the table.” – Urban Fantasy Investigations
AUTHOR INTERVIEW
Q: Why do you write?
A: I’ve wanted to be a writer since I was five years old and I wrote my first story. My head is always full of stories and it’s so wonderful and such a privilege to get to share them with others. I write because I *have* to write and because there’s nothing I love to do more. When you write, you get to bring people to life, create a world for them to inhabit, and invite readers to enjoy that world with you. If that’s not real magic, I don’t know what is.
Q: What books do you write?
A: I want to write the kinds of stories and books that I love to read–lots of adventure, mystery, suspense, action, twists, magic, and of course romance. The Alice Worth series is paranormal mystery set in a world very like our own, but with magic and supernatural beings. I hope readers get caught up in the mysteries and enjoy going on adventures with Alice as she tries to solve them and figure out her place in the world. The reading order follows below.
ALICE WORTH
- HEART OF MALICE (book 1)
- JUST FOR ONE NIGHT (short story)
- BLOOD MONEY (novella)
- HEART OF FIRE (book 2)
- HEART OF ICE (book 3)
Q: Do you use music in your writing?
A: Yes! Each Alice Worth book has a curated playlist of songs featured in the novel, as well as other tunes that enhance your reading experience. Alice loves music and so do I! See the playlists at on Lisa Edmonds website.

Surviving the West-Addison Harnad wasn’t without its difficulties for Alice. Recovering from her recent addiction to the illegal street drug Haze isn’t the only thing she’s dealing with. The non-magical community is in an uproar. With constant protests and attacks on the supernaturals and their property, no one is safe. It’s the worst time for a war between Cabals but Alice’s grandfather, Moses Murphy doesn’t care about collateral damage and he’s determined to end the Bell Cabal.
With a dangerous ex-Marine on the hunt for vampires and those connected to them, Alice is once again in danger. Hiring Maclin Security seems to be her best option of staying alive and continuing to do her job. With Sean and Malcolm at her side, she takes on a case of missing magical objects. When everything starts to go wrong for Alice and her team, she takes it upon herself to save everyone, even at the expense of her own life.
In the third book of the Alice Worth series, we get a better look into the dynamics of pack life. What it’s like to be alpha and how his mate might fit into the picture. Alice isn’t the only one uncertain of her place in Sean’s life. In her quest to right the wrongs of her past, Alice might go too far this time.
While I’m growing to love Sean a little more each book, my love-hate relationship with Charles is starting to lean towards hate. I believe he has a form of affection for Alice but his continued use of games for his own selfish gain isn’t going to win him any points with her and I can’t wait to see her truly put him in his place.
Answers for Malcolm opens up the door to more questions regarding his place in Alice’s life. The puzzle of Cyro and the notorious hackers’ motives regarding Alice hint at conclusions to the story of Alice’s past. Sean has made his position in Alice’s life quite clear by this point and I’m looking forward to seeing their relationship continue to grow.
I’m not so patiently awaiting the arrival of book four and Alices’ next adventure.
Alice has a lot going on. Her latest case, a discreet retrieval mission for illegal magical objects goes sideways, putting someone she cares about in serious jeopardy. Vampire Charles Vaughn is up to his old manipulative tricks, leveraging some much needed assistance against a play for Alice’s affections. Werewolf boyfriend Sean is at his wit’s end with Alice’s save-the-world risky shenanigans, as well as trouble with his pack, and even Alice’s ghostly BFF Malcom is getting sick of the fearless Mage PI putting her life on the line time and again. Add in a militant anti-sup killer with Alice in his crosshairs and the Murphy Cabal making a play for control of the city, and you’ll be on the edge of your seat wondering how Alice can possibly get out of these entanglements in one piece.
This series just keeps getting better and better! Totally hooked!
I had to think before writing this review… it was such a ride. How to write a review without giving away plotpoints or spoilers.
This is the 3rd book in the Alice Worth-series and it is not a standalone. It is an ongoing series about Alice, a mage working as a PI. She has a werewolf boyfriend, Sean, and a ghost for a house-guest (Malcolm) as he is connected to her. Alice has fled her horrific past and made a new life for the last 5 years, but her past is getting near and it is unsettling.
Hired by the vampire court Alice is on a misson when all goes to hell and she has to be protected by Sean’s security firm. Meanwhile she also has a PI job to retrieve some magical objects and that is going quite well until it is not and Alice has to risk everything for the man she loves.
I cannot reveal more, only that this is freaking-awesome and I think the best in the series yet. Alice is such a great but complicated character. I also enjoyed all the other characters (Malcolm!) and love how Alice is changing and growing despite everything she went through in her life.
I can’t wait for the next in the series, especially after the ending and the teaser chapter. This series is on my favorite-series shelf for a reason! (December 2018)
One of the best book series I’ve read in a long time. I couldn’t put it down and am in turmoil waiting for the next to be written.
