Installment 2 in the Blood of Zeus will answer some questions that the first book left but it will leave you with so many more.
The relationship between Maximus and Kara grows stronger and their chemistry is off the charts.
Trust is so important in a relationship but will it be enough to help them with all the otherworldly forces working against them?
The cover is fire and so is the story! Max and Kara are in for a wild ride in this story with more secrets and obstacles in their way. The story moves quickly and has gasping, wide-eyed, and unable to blink. We are left with another cliffhanger however that left me with more questions and impatiently waiting the next book.
4.5 stars! Taking this very contemporary romance more into the paranormal view, the love between a part-demon and a demigod. In an attempt to keep Hades at bay after Kara’s breech of “contract” they go full on Kardashian style publicity train, with the aid of her mother. They don’t like it, but they do it as they try to figure out a way out of this mess. Maximus is grappling with his newly discovered patronage, being the son of Zeus is a big revelation. But that’s not the only secret revealed, and as the book progresses, the games and politics of the Gods become more and more problematic for Kara and Maximus, who only want to be together. They’re chemistry is scorching, and they’re love is next level. The ending pulls the rug out from everyone, and suddenly, all bets are off. Book 3 is definitely going to be a wild ride.
Max and Kara’s love story continues to be steamy and hot while they are playing a game to make sure that the underworld doesn’t take Kara away and/or punish her. We find out more about Maximus’s childhood and get to see the interaction between him and his father, Zeus! Maximus is taken to the Greek Gods world, mostly a bar where he learns about the godly drinks which is very potent and he gets drunk pretty quickly. His uncle, the god of the underworld, wants to know why Kara is so special that Zeus and Maximus is asking him to release her from her commitment.
Meanwhile, Kara’s mother is scheduling public events that Maximus and Kara must attend in order to keep Kara in the spotlight so less chance of something happening to her. While these events aren’t to either Maximus and Kara’s liking they do it to an extent. Things are always steamy when it comes to these 2 and they always want time away from everything and everyone. But going to a small social gathering of someone that Kara’s brother knows comes at a great expense. Maximus and Kara’s brother join forces to figure out what happened and how they were all betrayed!
I am impatiently waiting for the next book to figure out what happened and if there will be a happily ever after. Ms. Wild and Ms. Payne sure knows how to write stories that keep the reader craving more and more. Love both these authors, together and individually!
Holy Greek Mythology! Kara and Maximus chemistry is out of this world. Such a passionate couple. Such different pasts. In Heart of Fire you get to find out more of Maximus past. Such a Greek tragedy.
I said after Blood of Zeus I’m not normally a paranormal reader but this series has totally changed me. I love this story. I’m hanging by my fingernails with this cliffhanger. I cannot wait till Fate of Storms comes out. Awesome job Meredith Wild and Angel Payne!
This is the second book in the Blood of Zeus series and it is not a standalone. It picks up where the first book left off and once again readers a spun into a world that melds the past and present so beautifully with Greek mythology thrown in for good measure.
Theirs was a love that was never supposed to be but the heart wants what the heart wants and the rest of the world, underworld included, be darned. Maximus is learning about his parentage and that is bringing about some amazing discoveries. Kara is making some concessions to appease her mother so that she can be with Maximus which thrusts the two of them into the limelight. However, is Kara’s mother doing it for virtuous reasons? I think not! Regardless, this is one tour de force created by two stellar writing dynamos that will have you on the edge of your seat as the drama unfolds. This is not one to be missed! I am on bated breath counting down until the third book is due to release and I have a feeling that I will want more from these dynamic secondary characters that I hope Ms. Wild and Ms. Payne will consider penning in the future. I highly recommend this series! I volunteered to read a copy of this book.
Heaven and hell.
When demi God’s fall for demons the whole world quakes! Max and Kara are shaking up both the ethereal and the underworld. They are fighting for the right to love. But this time there may be dire consequences that maybe beyond their strength to overcome.
I am so engrossed in this story I don’t know if I can stand the wait for the next book!
HEART OF FIRE (Blood of Zeus Book 2) By Meredith Wild & Angel Payne
This is the welcome 2nd book in the Blood of Zeus series. Maximus Kane and Kara Valari are getting closer and things are stirring up with their families. This is such a satisfying series that has jumped into the Greek Mythology arena and these two exceptionally talented ladies are at the top of their game. The only negative is the 3rd book won’t be out until May. This is a 5 star read.
Fantastic book that is hot!!! Full of excitement and leaves you on the edge of your seat! Toe curling good time!!
WOW!!! Meredith and Angel continue to blow me away. What a story this is turning out to be!! The whirlwind romance between Kara and Maximus is all consuming. The twisted turns this book took left me gasping and desperate to turn the pages! Is it May yet? I NEED book 3! Bravo ladies! Five million stars!!
Heart of Fire is book #2 in the Blood of Zeus series by the AMAZING Angel Payne and Meredith Wild and if you thought book 1 was out of this world amazing than strap in for an out of this world experience with Heart of Fire!!! Absolute Perfection!!! It picks up immediately where Blood Of Zeus left off, some questions will be answered while more will pop up and that cliff hanger!!! I am still trying to catch my breath from such a thrilling read!!!!
Max and Kara are so sexy and throw in Zeus and Kara’s sister who’s trying to help and her grandfather his manuscripts and a man her mother wants Kara to marry makes for some intriguing plot points I adore this book
Kara and Maximus move forward in their relationship. However, Kara’s mom, Valerie, seems to want to take control of their social life. As Maximus learns more about his father, he also learns more about his uncles, and that’s not necessarily a good thing.
Opinion
Yet another cliffhanger ending. The build up to it was extreme and had me turning pages quicker than Usane Bolt can run the 100. I’m not sure that I can wait for the next book but undoubtedly I must.
Many thanks to Bare Naked Words for providing me with an ARC of this book.
So so so good!!!!
Wow can this series get any better? Hot and steamy!
Cara and Maximus heat the pages up and make it near impossible to put the book down!
Be weary though because just like that it ends in a major cliffhanger! I can’t wait to read the next one!
Wonderful!
To be honest I was going to give this book a 3.5 stars but the ending boosted it up to a 4. I love the connection between Maximus and Kara. I just felt like the book was dragging along. At times it was too detailed and it made the book seem slow. There were good parts in the book but the end was the best. It kind of is a cliffhanger but not a horrible one that would have you ready to throw your device at a wall. I am intrigued by Kara’s brother, Jaden. I kind of hope he gets a book to be honest. I am excited to see how the next book plays out.
***** AUDIOBOOK REVIEW *****
I just loved, love, LOVED Heart of Fire by Meredith Wild and Angel Payne! I listened to it the second it was on my phone and I didn’t stop listening until it was over (not an execration either). I’ve never read either of these authors without the other… ok this series has been my only experience with either of them… I’m kicking myself. I mean, if all their duo books are like these books have been that I’m missing out! The characters, Max and Kara, plus the entire crew behind them are just so interesting.
I just want more. Every time I listen to one of these books in this series, I don’t want it t end and I want more from what I’ve been given! Seeing Max really find himself is great. He’s got this whole demi-God thing going on with a major alpha male complex. Kara doesn’t need his protection. Oh no, this girl is bad ass all on her own! The ending of this book had me standing in the shower frozen, mouth agape and shocked face on. I feel like I’m Expectant father pacing outside the room back in the day while I wait for Fate of Storms (book 3) to release.
Jennifer Mack and Jacob Morgan are a dream package! They have been easily bringing these books to very vivid life right before my eyes. I’m relieved they’ve kept the same narrators from the last audiobook. I just can’t envision another narrator bring Kara or Max to life. They have really added a pulse to the story. I’m sure these are just amazing stories to read, really that is how good that are. But the audiobooks leave nothing out. They add a personality and an intensity that feels compulsive. Fabulous, fabulous audiobook!
Thank you Brilliance Publishing for the complimentary copy of this audiobook with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
They introduced many more characters inHoF and left
me wondering quite a few things. Kara and Maximus complement
each other even though they are complete opposites. Their chemestry
and bond is off the charts for sure. Maximus was able to uncover a few
things that had been bothering him for as long as he could remember,
(considering he had many blanks in his memory). We were introduced to
a few key people in his life, friends and foes. Kara found allies in people
she hadn’t thought would be on her side. I thoroughly enjoyed HoF, can’t wait
for the conclusion Fate of Storms, which is going to be EPIC based on the first two books.
A definite plus for me was the Greek Mythology .
Starting with what we already know, this is the second book of “Blood of Zeus” trilogy, so it’s necessary to read the first one to continue with this, otherwise you would miss the entire introductory story to this world of demigods and demons…
The first book ends with Maximus accepting Z’s help in order to protect Kara and stay by her side, but as Z reminds us “everything has a price.” So, book two begins right there, when Maximus thinks things finally seem to be fine, but this has only just begun.
In this second book, not only the story between the two unfold more, but also their pasts, we can understand some aspects of them that are gradually revealed to us, as well as their origins, and why the relationship between them is so impossible (apart from the obvious… demigod, demon, teacher, student…)
But perhaps what I liked the most are all the twists and turns that the story is given, no matter how much you think you know, or have read about, they (Angel & Meredith) will “cheat” you and you will be left with your mouth open with every single chapter. Besides the balance that they put to everything; if there is good there must also be evil and that has been great, the contrast between that.
Although I must admit that if you don’t really pay attention from the beginning you can get lost a bit between the number of characters that are coming out and the relationship or importance they will have with the protagonists.
It seems that the stronger is the love between them, the more obstacles appear on the road, to the extent that they must take care of everyone’s backs and everything, there comes a time when they question whether the people close to them they are really what they say they are, and especially the doubt of who they can trust. There was a payment that had to be made, what they didn’t know was how high the price would be.
I think that these two authors have managed to work perfectly together, since each twist, each dialogue, each character is what the story needs, making the reader get to enter completely into this fantastic world.
To say that the authors have left me more than eager to know what the hell is going on, is an understatement, things are getting good and the latest installment will be simply explosive, that’s for sure.
And the question that you are constantly asking yourself is, will love between them really be able to fight mythological beings and powerful demons?
