This book was formerly titled PRAIRIE HEAT.He Shouldn’t Want Her…Blake Sinclaire knows he shouldn’t want Maddie Hansen – she’s the daughter of his family’s enemy, and not to be trusted. It doesn’t matter she’s got a mind that won’t quit, curves for days, and a mouth that drives Blake to distraction. Her father stole his family’s land, and Blake will do anything – anything to get it back. But … anything to get it back.
But one scorching kiss changes everything…
Super-scientist Maddie Hansen vowed never to return to Prairie and the feud that’s hounded her family for generations. When she discovers the sexy cowboy who saved her father’s life is none other than Blake Sinclaire, she’s forced to reconsider everything she thought about her family’s enemy- especially when his kisses keep her awake at night. But Maddie’s determined to hold Blake at bay, because everyone knows cowboys have nothing in common with scientists. Except when it comes to matters of the heart.
Blake’s plan to reclaim his land goes haywire when white-hot kisses turn into something more, but dark secrets stand between Blake and a shot at love. When they come to light, will he lose everything he holds dear, including Maddie?
A standalone, modern-day Hatfields & McCoys filled with family feuds, fake engagements, explosive secrets, memorable side-characters, and a Happily Ever After that might just make you swoon.

I started reading this series because of Tessa’s contribution to Protected by A Hero. The characters in that book were so vibrant, I had to know more about them.
This first book centers on the feud between the Sinclaires and the Hansons. Blake wants the land Warren Hanson stole from his family back but when he confronts him the unexpected happens.
Warren wants him to marry his daughter Maddie and after dropping that bomb he collapses.
His ensuing hospitalization causes Blake to sort of agree with the engagement thing with Maddie.
Maddie has a lot to resolve both personally and professionally.
Family secrets uncovered and in spite of themselves the heat between Maddie and Blake burns hotter and hotter.
I enjoyed meeting the Sinclaire and Hanson families. Plus a host of other characters.
Prairie Kansas appears to be a great place to get lost in for a while. Laughter, gossip, tears and plenty of family drama.
The book was very good. I want to order the rest of the series.
Which I will in a few weeks.
Great book! I have a hankering for cowboy romances and this one quenched my thirst. It flowed well and kept me captivated. I honestly didn’t want to put it down and read the book straight through. I would recommend lovers of romances with sexy cowboys download this book ASAP!
Family, love, drama and scandal find a home in Flint Hills. This is such an epic story with such a colorful cast of characters that make you laugh, cringe and cry that you won’t want to put the book down. What is great about this book is it’s the first in a series so, the drama will continue.
In this book, Blake and Maddie who have been on opposing sides of the river and families have an undeniable chemistry. They sizzle and spark in spite of themselves until it becomes all consuming but, naturally, their is drama, jealousy, betrayal and heartache that ensues sweeping you up with it.
An excellent, scandalous read!

Fantastic read. Well written!!! Buying the whole series was a definite must!
A relaxing afternoon read.
Couldn’t put it down. The writing was well done and a few twist and turns kept the story line moving.
Loved the story of Blake and Maddie. The Sinclair boys went through so much in their lives and had to overcome it. Maddie’s Dad had a plan and executed it when he had the opportunity. I loved the story.
Well worth reading
As I read this book, I really wished I could have been watching the whole book unfold before my eyes, like a movie. It was easy to visualize, and I enjoyed the character development, the plot, the settings, the humor, and the romance. Sit by the fire, drink something hot, dress comfortably, find a great chair or sofa, and enjoy every page!!
enjoyed reading!
A twist on the common small town family feud plot. I enjoyed Maddie’s snark and her struggles with siblings. The surprise twist of family history at the end was a great way to close the story.
