I love Prairie and the families I’ve come to know through these books.
Caroline Grace is someone we have heard about in previous books. This book is her story and Cody Hanson’s as well.
When last we saw Cody he had been thrown and trampled by the bull he was riding. This book opens with Parker kicking Cody out of his home. He and Cassie had opened their home to him for his recuperation but he hasn’t been doing any of the Physical Therapy. Parker has decided enough is enough and Cody needs to be accountable for his own well being.
Carolina Hansen moved home from Chicago after her fiancé was killed in an auto accident. A physical therapist she’s working at the new Physical Therapy Center. It’s here that she encounters Cody for the first time in years.
It seems these two have a lot to overcome, Cody the physical as well as the mental feelings of inadequacy. For Caroline the guilt of betraying a man who’s deceased and the feelings that she isn’t meant to have her happily ever after.
A slow yet, fiery build to this relationship and plenty of emotional decisions that can make or break them.
It is impossible to not love a Tessa Layne book. The world she has built throughout all of these connecting series feels so real and the characters feel like old friends. I am always excited to read what is going on in town with all of the people that live there.
This one is about Cody. He has been part of the rodeo riding bulls. This is his life, what he feels he was born to do. Then he gets on a bull named Damnation and sees the end of his career. This injury has Cody lost and drowning in self pity until his brother tells him to get himself together and fix it, the world is living without him.
Carolina Grace returns home feeling like a failure in love. She has hardened her heart and resigned herself to living her life alone. Her family is also trying to get her to rejoin the world of the living but her trust in life is deeply bruised.
Into her life walks Cody asking for help. He wants to ride bulls again and is hoping her abilities as a physical therapist will get him back to where he needs to be. Will this professional relationship be the start of something new for both Cody and Carolina? Will Cody ride again? Can Carolina open her heart again? Will she take yet another chance at love? Fear is the obstacle both of them must overcome in order to move forward in life.
Great writing. Great characters. Another stellar addtion to the Flint Hills and Tessa Laynes’ series.
What a great addition to an already wonderful series.
Carolina and Cody were a fun couple to read about. They were both dealing with heartache in different ways. Neither one of them were copying in the most healthiest way. Luckily some tough love forced them to work together and in the process an attraction progresses.
I loved reading about the journey Cody had. He started the book in a really bad place and it was fun and rewarding to see how he ended up. You could physically see the improvements he was having.
I had a little hard time with Carolina. For most of the book, I was thinking she might not get over her demons but I think because they were more emotional and internal it was harder to see her recover.
I highly recommend this book.
Carolina has been an almost-bride twice. He can’t stand the idea of falling for a man again, although deep in the bottom of her heart that is everything she wants.
Cody is an injured bull rider trying to get well to go back to the ring. Bull-riding is deep into his soul.
This story is about how our own fears keep us away from living our lives freely. When we love someone, we always are afraid to lose that someone, that is normal, but we can’t let that fear to drive us through life. That’s what happened to Carolina, she was so frightened she was unable to see what she has in front of her.
Another great story in the series. It is well-written and the characters are very likeable. I like to see some of the characters from previous stories and to know how they are doing. I like Cody. Some would have thought that being a bull rider he would be kind of a brute. But no, he is sweet and caring. I love the scene of the wedding when he protects Caroline.
Wow another emotionally packed adventure from Tessa! The rodeo hero with more than just a damaged body and the twice almost-bride. I enjoyed watching their romance simmer and the trust grow. They had to overcome their fears and believe in love. A great addition to the Flint Hills family!

Prairie Redemption is another awesome addition to this series by Tessa Layne.
Cody Hansen has a career ending ride on a bull named Damnation or so he thinks and is wallowing in self pity until his brother pushed him to get his head out of his butt and get back to the land of the living…and maybe with the help of PT Carolina Grace that just might happen and he may ride the bulls once more…That is if he can keep him mind on the therapy and not on Carolina…
Heart broken Carolina has come back home after losing her fiancé…being unlucky in love twice she hardens her heart but her family thinks it’s time to come back to the land of the living and open her heart again. She not sure that’s possible until Cody shows up at her PT job asking for her help. Things heat up, sparks fly, lines are crossed, bitter words are spoken but can these two overcome the past and move to the future and their HEA or will it end in the dust??
Who is Saving Who – Broken Rodeo Star or Twice –Left Physical Therapist??
This is brilliant!! Rodeo star Cody definitely needs to be put back together after a bad accident. Cody is lucky to be able to walk at all. Carolina was left at the alter once, and still mourns her years-dead fiancé Michael.
“But Carolina was a different story. She was off-limits in every conceivable way, and he wasn’t sure what would get them in more trouble – the fact that she was his sister-in-law, or the fact that he was her patient. One would leave him dead, the other, her fired. Of course there was the tiny little matter that she still seemed to be in deep mourning for the late fiancé. He eyed the gold band on her left hand. “I’m sorry for your loss”. The words slipped out as much to remind him to keep his distance, as to convey his condolence.”
“Cody wasn’t the first injured man she’d worked with who turned rude at the though of not regaining his independence. But unlike the others, his attitude pissed her off. Somehow, the sex, grouchy cowboy had managed to crawl under her skin, and made her care about him, dammit.”
After five years family and friends had suggested she move on – but Cody was the first to tempt her to do so.
Amazing confrontations, the battle for recovery, wedding dress burnings, cryptic fortunes: “ A horse can’t leave the barn through two doors”, and fear of loss create a touching, humorous and scintillating story!!
*** I am voluntarily leaving my honest review of this book ***
Another amazing romance about a two people finding a true connection and an everlasting love. After a bumpy start Cody and Carolina make a perfectly balanced couple. He likes walking on the wild side while she needs to stay in a careful and safe world. Cody longs to get back on the rodeo circuit and Carolina can’t get past her pain and grief of her past fiances. But, together they find out what is truly important.
I wholeheartedly recommed this book. I’m so impressed with Ms. Layne’s ability to create all of these Flint Hills books where they are never the same and always engaging and romantic.
