Working at Echo Lake’s Mercy Hospital has always been a very rewarding experience for Delaney Blair, she loves the idea that she is doing her small part to keep the hospital running efficiently and the community healthy, and she simply couldn’t imagine working anywhere else. But when her boss pulls her into his office and breaks the news to her that the hospital is struggling to make ends meet, and unless they find a way to trim costs people will be losing their jobs, Delaney starts to feel a little deflated, especially since the task of cutting costs falls on her shoulders. She has thirty days to get a new budget ready, or face the consequences of possibly losing her job along with a lot more of the hospitals employees. So, she comes up with a plan to start in the Pediatric unit, and see where she can cut some of their costs, and go from there…which puts in the path of a very handsome and oh so tempting Dr. Joshua Mackenzie.
The minute Dr. Joshua Mackenzie hears that the hospital board is calling for budget cuts and they want to take funding from his pediatric program he is ticked. They are already running under staffed and barely making ends meets as it is, and now their sending some suit down from the sixth floor to run his departments numbers, and possibly take his funding…no way, he isn’t having it! The minute he meets the suit though he knows he is in trouble, she is beautiful and determined to get what she wants, so he does the only thing he can think of to sway her decision, ask her to relocate to his floor for a week, and take a good look at how his department runs. She reluctantly excepts his offer, now he just has to hope that the more time she spends with the patients and staff, she will be persuaded to take her budgets cuts somewhere else…
This was my second visit to this series and I have to say that I enjoyed this trip even more than the first. One paragraph into it and I was immediately pulled back into the small town of Echo Lake, and so happy for the opportunity to revisit some familiar residents, and also meet a few new ones too. The author does an amazing job of developing very relatable and likable characters that you can’t help but get attached to. I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Josh and Delaney, their story captured my attention right from the start and had me flying right through the pages, and staying up well past my bedtime because I could not wait to see how their story would end. Definitely one of my favorites in the series to date!!
I highly recommend you add the Echo Lake series to your reading list, each story is well crafted, highly entertaining and filled with some very memorable characters that will leave you with a warm heart and smile on your face!
