A note from Audrey: Some series can be read out of order – this isn’t one of them. Start with Alpha and welcome to Ghost Mountain!Lissa chose to stay, to stand with the tattered remnants of her pack as they try to make themselves whole again. She somehow didn’t expect it to try her patience quite so much. Which means it might be time for a meek bookkeeper to take matters into her own hands. Before … into her own hands.
Before her wolf does.

“Heart” by Audrey Faye was a book I highly anticipated. The first book in her paranormal romance series, “Alpha”, was wonderful – “Heart” is every bit as good!
This is a paranormal romance with a difference. It is less about action (although there’s enough of that) and more about the characters and their journey together. It’s a book about healing in a community (and healing a community).
Compassionate, with clearly drawn characters and an engaging paranormal world. Recommended.
Heart- Lissa’s story
Submissive wolf Lissa’s world was shattered 6 years ago when Samuel killed her Alpha. A year later her son was born. A baby with genetic anomaly not common in shifter, and one who didn’t seem to be able to shift. She should have escaped years ago but her pack needed her. At 5, when Robbie finally shifted to a white alpha wolf, she ran, and was saved by Hayden, protected by Rio and Kel.
Her pack has a long road to recovery. She is not sure she can stay. She waffles between what her pack needs and what may be better for Robbie. Then there is the pull that the golden eyed Alpha who saved her, has on her heart.
Merna, Elder and daughter of the founding alpha of the pack, asks for 3 days. Lissa can do that. She has been the strong heart of the pack. She starts to drop pebbles of the metaphoricall kind. Hoping to bring some of the missing home and renew ties with old friends.
Much of the pack has been in hiding. Hayden feels it and it hurts his wolf to have so many needing him and not being able to protect them. The dominant in the forest who protects them is reserving her judgment. Bailey trusts the sister of her heart, she has many who are broken, and she isn’t ready to trust them to Hayden’s care, even knowing Rio’s sentinel is who they need.
Adrianna Scott pays a visit, offering quiet advise and a much needed boots of confidence. She quickly takes on the roll of grandmother and drowns her self in pups and a young cub, learning how to be the big, and still be safe with those who are smaller than his bear. Reilly is proud to be documenting his packs recovery.
Little Kelsey Dunn, the most submissive of the pups, a strong sensitive, is bringing, song back to the pack.
Bailey brings a gift to Hayden and Lissa makes her choice.
Clean read, PG-13. Very emotional story of love family and resilience. Not a stand alone, need to read Alpha first
Another brilliant book and one that I finished by the end of the day
Generic review, as I have so thoroughly enjoyed every book of hers I’ve read.
I’ve yet to read a book of hers that didn’t leave me feeling better about life, the universe, and everything.
Don’t think of them in terms of fantasy of sci fi (if that might put you off) — think of them in terms of books that are heartwarming, inspiring, comforting.
Strong characters who learn and grow, and who find and support connections with others and the world around them.
I eagerly await each new book!
Another great book, not as fast paced as the first (Alpha) but just as well written and full of emotion. More character development, and a steady pace to make the series nice and long (I hope!)
This book has a lot of heart. I read it twice because the first time I read it too quickly and was sure I missed some things. I was right. The story revolves around a pack of shape shifting wolves struggling to find their way. The book is about family dynamics, learning to trust and live and love again, believing in yourself and knowing right from wrong. It is an outstanding story!
Happy sigh. Devoured. So good.
I very highly recommend this book but the author is correct in stating that it can’t be read out of order. So many characters and details are introduced in book one, Alpha. Those characters and details are expanded upon in Heart. And new info added as well. A continuing saga of healing, growth, relationships, humor…
The first Ghost of the overall storyline is not anyone I was expecting but wow. That Ghost and their ties to the submissives was a complete surprise. And yet another reflection of the evil that the previous alpha inflicted on the pack. More ghosts are still hiding out in the woods or further, waiting for their time to appear.
The idiot dominants. One step forward and two back.
Lyssa’s friend Bailey makes her appearance. And interacts in interesting ways with Hayden, the new alpha.
I’m getting ready to re-read book one and two, paying more attention on the characters introduced and making sure that I have a good feel for personalities, relationships, interests… I may first re-read book two again just for the joy it creates in my heart, tough decision.
Looking forward to book three. I don’t even want to try to guess at the storyline because the author’s words surpass anything I may imagine.
