He was ready to give up the party life. After years of no commitments with the vacationing women who visited his family’s pub, Aiden MacFarlane yearned for more out of life. But for single mom, Lia Smith, the last thing she was interested in was the town’s Peter Pan. First impressions were not favorable… for either of them, but eventually see what lies beneath the surface. Her job is to find out who … surface.
Her job is to find out who might be stealing money from the town and knows her investigation will ruffle feathers. As Aiden falls for Lia and her adorable daughter, he takes on the role of protector when she is threatened.
Will Aiden be able to save them before someone takes away his chance to truly live life to the fullest?
Baytown Boys…
Military duty called them away to war zones, but after tours overseas, the group of friends found their way back home as men, seeking the peaceful little seaside town. Now, the band of brothers, together once more, work to provide a place for less fortunate veterans to call home.
Scenes in the book are similar to what you would find in an R-Rated movie. Readers 18+ please.

This is the 8th book in the Baytown Boys. This band of brothers reunited after tours of duty in this small seaside town of Baytown. This is Aiden and Liz’s story. Heartwarming and emotional. Once you start this book, you’ll find it hard to put down. This series is a wonderful series and this story is a great addition. Full of drama, pleanty of surprises and lots of chemistry. I read a reader copy and voluntarily chose to review.
Where first impressions are better the second time around….
When we assume what’s on the surface level of a person, our first impressions can often lead us astray. For both Aidan and Lia… their first impressions of each other – are pretty dismal, not so great. It will take a special young lady, Lia’s daughter, Emily that will show everyone, the power of trust and that new possibilities are better the second time around. How our first impressions can be changed for the better. That there is always someone special that will make an impact, in more ways than can be counted that lead us to something new and lasting.
I found this a wonderful dichotomy inside the HEAR MY HEART storyline… for both character’s their previous relationships had great first impressions, yet left a bitter taste of mistrust, doubt and insecurity as those relationships developed.
Maryann Jordan has gifted readers another beautiful story of the special bonds of love and trust when you risk taking a second chance at life and love. Blended with the suspense and intrigue that comes Lia’s way in her job as a forensic accountant, that delving into a case, has major ramifications… can Aiden protect a beautiful woman and her precious daughter, as he is only just beginning to realise, they may mean more than he’s ever considered before?
I have loved the Baytown Boys series, catching up with previous characters and their loved ones. I continue to be impressed with the wonderful stories that Maryann Jordan delivers to her readers You will be drawn from the first words until it’s conclusion. A romance, a second chance amongst this page-turning drama, suspense and intrigue.
I think I’ve now found a new favorite book by this author. Hear My Heart is romantic and emotional with just enough mystery and suspense woven through the story.
Since returning home from serving his military time in a war zone Aiden is trying to appreciate life and live every moment to the fullest. He is a volunteer firefighter, a coach with youth league, and thoroughly enjoying single life and all the women he meets while working at the bar he co-owns.
Single mom, Lia is an accountant investigating some discrepancies in the town finances. She is new in town and hopes to settle in and make a stable life for herself and her young daughter.
“When I was unsure that Emily was able to hear me tell her that I loved her, I would place her so that her cheek was right next to my heartbeat. I always wanted her to feel it even if she couldn’t hear it. She still does that, even now, and I always tell her she can hear my heart…it’s the sound of my love.”
I absolutely loved this addition to the Baytown stories. Aiden is an amazing hero and Lia is a strong and independent heroine.
-5+ Stars!-
Once again, this very talented author gives us a story that will touch your hearts.
We are back in Baytown , with the “boys”, now men, who went to do their military duty in hopes of exploring the world, and came back to the warmth of home and family.
This time the story belongs to Aiden MacFarlane, the unattached sibling and co-owner of the local pub, Finn’s. A man of many layers who only starts to “discover” his real self when he meets the young widow Lia Smith and her daughter Emily.
The story is full of misunderstanding, family , friendships, mystery and of course romance. Even though the road is at times bumpy, these two start to open their hearts to a possibility of a future.
If you have read some of the previous books, you will get a chance to catch up with the characters you came to love.
In addition to the engaging story presented by the author, there is also the reminder of the need to support the returning troops that put their lives in danger for our freedom. Thank you , Ms . Jordan, for that reminder.
I was entrusted a copy of this book. The opinions expressed are solely my own.
When you find out what the title means, your heart may melt.
I love this series, it’s town and characters.
I was teary a lot reading Aiden and Lia’s story, along with little Emily. It’s a wonderful romance full of emotion, not easy sailing, he had to work for it.
There’s a mystery humming along in the background, then I had my aha moment.
Great story, can’t wait for the next one.
