Can Tyler find her HEA?
This is a wonderfully written story about leaving one life behind and finding another with an unexpected face from the past. Tyler takes her daughter to her hometown after her divorce from a nasty drunk ex husband. Surprised to run into an old high school crush who lives next door no less, Tyler tries to resist Zac. Zac has wanted Tyler since high school and won’t give up even if Tyler wants to. Can Tyler find the happiness she deserves or will her Ex try to destroy her new life? The first work I have read by the author and it is fantastic. Great characters and storyline. Highly recommended.
Healing Scars is a sweet slow burn, military romance with tons of feels! I’m quickly learning that Audrey Ravine can pack so much emotion into her novels and it makes for a great read.
Healing Scars dead with PTDS and isn’t my
typical read since it didn’t something I’m super familiar with, but was such a fantastic read and Audrey Ravine’s writing makes it so easy to relate to the subject matter or at the very least understand it and connect with it. Zac was amazeballs. He’s just such a great guy and wanted to wrap him up in goodness and never let anything bad hurt him. Tyler was equally as fantastic. The girl has been through hell and back and has such strength and I couldn’t feel anything except for admiration for her. I loved these two together. Both people who have been through hellish experiences in their life and come out stronger on the other side even if they can’t see it sometimes. Their chemistry was sizzling and I just needed them to freaking be together or once again I was going to riot.
Emotional, beautiful, and wonderful story. If you like a tons of feelings in your romance and characters you can’t help but cheer for and love, then get Healing Scars immediately. 5 stars.
OH MY WOW!!!! I didn’t think I’d like this book as much as I loved it!! The reason being, is I’m not too much into the military and PTSD books, gives me too much anxiety thinking about it. But that’s what this book was all about, and it didn’t focus on that.
Audrey, GIRL, you are an amazing author, and please keep writing!
Tyler and Zac meet in high school, and have always had a pull towards each other from the beginning.
Ty couldn’t act on it as she had always been with Kent. Zac couldn’t do anything cause she had always been with Kent.
Years and a lifetime go by for them, and one thing led to another for Ty for her to move back home with Wyatt, her daughter. Kent no Longer in the picture as the abusive husband and father.
GUESS WHO LIVES RIGHT NEXT DOOR TO TYLER? YEP, ZAC!!!
Zac can’t believe it and he’s been through a lot in his life as well. Not just emotional scars, but physical scars, and he’s soooo not ready to talk about it.
Their attraction to one another NEVER waned, and now what will they be able to do about it now that Kent is out of the picture, or so they thought? And what about Wyatt? Will Ty still be able to achieve her dream of opening a bakery?
The storyline was amazing, I loved everything that happened. The PTSD wasn’t OTT, and neither was the flashbacks, and neither was the abuse from the ex for Ty. Which was good. Cause sometimes that’ll put the book OTT.
I LOVED IT!!
Fave quotes from the book:
1. After two hours of moving in the southern heat, I know I smell like the backside of a rhino and probably look a lot worse. – LOL!!! Zac didn’t see it that way, that’s for sure!
You need this emotional, second chance romance book. The chemistry, romance, emotions and overall story will blow you away. You will binge was it and love every minute. This book was an obsession and I COULD. NOT. PUT. IT. DOWN. One click this bad boy! You’ll love it!
Wow. This book. These characters. These steamy scenes. This was a new author for me, and she made into a fan for life. She has created a emotional, steamy, small-town romance that will make you swoon and cry. It is filled with every emotion and feeling. This story turned out to be much more than I ever anticipated after reading the blurb. It was a straight shot to the heart that made my heart sing.
This story is also one of second chances and turning your life around for the better. The way she weaved their history, background, and everything they’ve been through together was magic. Truly, a heartwarming read that could be read over and over again.
Zac and Tyler have quite the history. They’ve known each other forever. When she shows up after 11 years, the chemistry between these two is off the charts. They’re amazing together. Zac and Tyler have to overcome their pasts. They have bad memories and nightmares. Together, they chase away the bad and help each other find the great together.
However, her past comes and catches back up with her. Zac is always there to help her though. It is truly an epic tale of love that protects and takes care of those that mean the most. The ending is beautiful because they get everything they’ve ever wanted and so much more.
Just read this book!! You’ll absolutely love it!!
This book was recommended by a friend so much that she gifted me a copy saying I had to read it. It took some time to get to but I do not regret it at all! I love Zac and Ty! I love Wyatt. This is the perfect story about two even three broken people healing each other through domestic violence and ptsd. I highly recommend this read so much!!!!
“You look like you need someone to help you live a little.”
“I do live.”
“No, you survive. I want to remind you how to live, if you’ll let me.”
You know the saying that timing is everything? It rang true for my husband and me. We had our first kiss in high school, and our second kiss 15 years later. And we’re still together. Sometimes the stars just don’t line up until the exact moment they’re supposed to, and when they do, you can’t deny the “meant to be’s” in your life. The same rings true for Tyler and Zac.
Tyler Thomas had her life planned out. She’d been with Kent since her early teens. He was a safe choice. He’d get drafted in to the NFL, they’d get married, have a family and everything they ever dreamed of. Until, that dream turned in to a nightmare of fear, abuse, and degradation. She’s heading home with her daughter, Wyatt, in tow -away from Kent. All she wants is some peace in her life for both she and her daughter. She doesn’t expect that her new neighbor will turn her whole world upside down.
Zac Jacobson was the town bad-boy in his teens. The son of the town drunk, expelled from several schools, and pegged as the troublemaker. But that was then. Now, an Army veteran, discharged after a severe injury, and the local town veterinarian, his life is much different. But one thing never changed – his love for her. Tyler. He loved her from afar in high school, knowing he was no good for her and she was better off with someone like Kent. Her faded photo in his helmet helped him through his deployments and through his recovery. Now, she’s his new neighbor and he’s going to do everything he can to make her his this time. They’re both broken in their own ways – maybe they’ve been brought together to heal each other. When Kent tries to destroy Tyler’s happiness, will Zac be able to save her?
I loved this story! A bad-boy turns his life around and finally gets the girl of his dreams. A girl who was strong enough to leave a bad situation and start fresh, and finding the one she was truly meant to be with. A story of taking the pains and mistakes in your life, and letting them make you stronger, rather than letting them define you. I’d recommend this one to anyone!
Tyler’s life didn’t turn out the way she expected. She married her high school sweetheart and thought life would be great. That was until he didn’t get picked for the NFL out of college and he had to become a cop. He blamed Tyler and their little girl, Wyatt. When things got really bad, Tyler left and moved back home. How was it possible that the bad boy she had feelings for would be living right next door? Zac can’t believe his luck. The girl that got away, the perfect girl is back in his life and he is going to do whatever it takes to keep her. Will Tyler be able to trust in Zac and his love?
This was the first book by Audrey Ravine and she is going to be an author to watch. She has a solid style with developed characters. It was fun to see a couple that weren’t together in high school get a chance to be together. Both have their baggage but want to work through it for each other. Wyatt, Tyler’s daughter is so feisty and so adorable. I loved every moment she was on the page. This is the kind of romance that I love and I read it in a day! I am incredibly stoked that Zac’s friend, the tattoo artist Trey is going to be the focus of the next book! Four stars for Healing Scars.
Healing Scars was absolutely fantastic.
Tyler and Zac old friends from high school reunite when Tyler moves back to town with her daughter, Wyatt.
Zac, former army ranger never forgot that girl he fell for in high school and his love for her carried him through his deployment. Now, fate has given him a second chance to make Tyler is girl, once and for all.
Tyler is a great heroine. She’s stronger than she gives herself credit for, feisty and a wonderful mother. I’ve been that single mom, coming from an abusive relationship, and falling for a new man. I related to her on such a deep, personal level. Audrey did such a fantastic job in nailing the emotions and character spot on.
“My attraction to Zac, Kent’s unruliness, and Wyatt’s all circling around me—threatening to blow my life to shreds with the slightest change of the wind.”
Zac is such a swoon-worthy hero, and going in my book-boyfriend dungeon. He showed strength and masculinity when called for, but was soft, respectful and caring at all the right moments. When he called Wyatt “peanut” my heart absolutely melted.
Oh and Wyatt, can we just talk about that little “bug” and “peanut” here for a bit. She’s such a great kid and stole the show in every page she appeared on.
This is a wonderful story at how two broken people come together and help heal the scars from their broken past. Bravo Ms. Ravine on a job well done.
I absolutely love second chance romance books. This is the first book i have read from Audrey and i am glad that i did. Well written intense book with a great story line and great characters who have amazing chemistry. I loved being able to see these two get a second chance at loving each other. But this book was so much more than that. This storyline was about both of them moving on from their past and finding the happiness they both deserve. I absolutely love the relationship Zach and Wyatt. Wyatt is just a little girl but she is so smart. And the relationship those to have is something special right from the start. I love how he know that no matter what Wyatt is first in her mom’s life. This was a touching storyline from beginning to end. There was just something about it that will make your heart melt. A great book. I cant wait to read more from her.
Healing Scars is an incredible romance with lots of steam and a splash of suspense. The characters are well written and believable. I think we all need a Zac Jacobsen in our life. Tyler is an extremely relatable character that it is easy to root for. I look forward to reading more in this series. I highly recommend this heartwarming romance.
I really really wanted to like Healing Scars. It had potential starting out and I progressively changed my mind as I kept reading.
Most of the time I don’t get bothered with misspelled words, missing words, and the writing style, but it got worse and worse as I kept reading it was in every paragraph and there were parts where a couple of sentences were repeated two or three times throwing me off. It got so bad and I eventually had to skim through the end of the book along with just not caring anymore.
The flow of this story felt off as Tyler and Zac’s relationship progressed. It mostly had to with the timing of things and events were out of place. For instance, Tyler jokes to Zac about his “Army Ranger School,” but at this point in the story she doesn’t know he was in the military or a Ranger. She also used nicknames such as soldier, Ranger, and Sergeant, and I wish she would have just stuck to one.IT was annoying.
Lastly, while I was all for Tyler moving on from that asshole of a ex husband who treated her wrong and was a terrible father, it was unnecessary to even bring him up randomly at the end because there was no build up to his progressive instability and irrational behavior. Also, it was drastically unbelievable that Tyler loving Zac healed his PTSD. The man needed real help over losing Mac.
So, my final verdict of this book is that it a solid foundation in the beginning, but didn’t quite keep its steady flow and plot direction. There were things that I liked like Wyatt, Tyler’s daughter and their relationship. But I have to say I was disappointed and while I see that the author also wrote about Trey(who was interesting and someone I really liked), I don’t think I can bring myself to read it.
