Buying a gun to kill your wife: $3,000
Hiring Trauma Care to clean afterward: $1,500
Having that same cleaner uncover evidence that frames you: Priceless
On her way to completing a degree in forensic science, Gabby St. Claire drops out of school and starts her own crime scene cleaning business. “Yeah, that’s me,” she says, “a crime scene cleaner. People waiting in line behind me who strike up … behind me who strike up conversations always regret it.”
When a routine cleaning job uncovers a murder weapon the police overlooked, she realizes that the wrong person is in jail. But the owner of the weapon is a powerful foe… and willing to do anything to keep Gabby quiet.
With the help of her new neighbor, Riley Thomas, a man whose life and faith fascinate her, Gabby plays the detective to make sure the right person is put behind bars. Can Riley help her before another murder occurs?
“Christy Barritt’s novel, Hazardous Duty, is a delightful read from beginning to end. The story’s fresh, engaging heroine with an unusual occupation hooked me, and I couldn’t put it down. I highly recommend Hazardous Duty.”

Like how she writes
this is the 1st in the series (I am on the 6th book in the series now)
I am liking all them as it shows her transformation throughout each book – and there are some exciting unexpected turns in them as well.
This book was excellent. The story, the characters, the writing, the faith content — all of it was memorable, intriguing and entertaining. I was genuinely gutted by some of the plot twists and the suspense was crafted so well that I had a hard time putting the book down. I definitely recommend this novel if you love clean suspense that isn’t dark …
Good enough to finish, not good enough to recommend.
Gabby, despite getting to the point where she almost got a degree in forensics, is one of those impulsive female characters in a mystery that does what she wants, willy nilly and stupidly gets herself into bad situations. She’s also stupid in her personal life, she enables her father thereby …
It’s not a nail biter, but it’s a light, entertaining book about a murder mystery.
I couldn’t stop smiling! Never thought that mystery could be so entertaining.
Great job to both – author and narrator! Highly recommend!
Very enjoyable. I look forward to reading more of Christy’s books.
This is my third book read about the crime scene cleaner.
This was my introduction into the inspirational suspense empire from Christy Barritt. I was hooked from page one and have read the entire series. Barritt creates a character world so convincing that readers never know what to expect outside of those quirky characters and shocking twists and conclusions. You’ll laugh out loud, feel the intense …
Fun and entertaining!
This was a very entertaining mystery. I enjoyed the spunky heroine and the other characters in the story and am looking to finding out what happens to them in the next books.
I did not like the content or the writing style.
Sort of goofy and made me laugh but still interesting.
Enjoyed the book a lot. It had all the components of a good murder mystery without the graphic violence or bad language. I’ll be reading more of this author’s books!
Good read
Light easy reading. Very funny.
Kept me guessing.
I enjoyed this book. It was a good read.
All of her books that I have read are wonderful!
You will be absolutely sure you know “who did it” —- until the end, and you were wrong. Great story.
