NOTE: Hay is a 25k word SHORT.When sports journalist Hayworth Buchanan lands the interview of his dreams, he gets the chance to visit famous NFL coach Christian Lasley at his secluded ranch in Wyoming. Despite the cold weather outside, things get plenty steamy inside when sparks fly between Hay and his celebrity sports crush. But Hay’s been down this road before, and he knows from experience hot … knows from experience hot connections never turn into the real deal for him. After all, everyone he’s ever been interested in has left him for their childhood love.
So when Christian’s on-again, off-again childhood love shows up at the ranch hoping to reconcile, Hayworth knows he a decision to make. Does he hand over the ball and slink off the field, or does he step up and try to make the winning play?
While Hay is set in the Made Marian world, this story stands completely on its own.

This is a fun and steamy read that doesn’t need to be read with the others in the series (but will be more meaningful to Hay’s emotions if you do). Just sweet enough to be dreamy with enough drama to be interesting. A good read.

I thoroughly enjoyed this Novella. I’m glad that Hay finally got his own story and found his happily ever after which he totally deserves, as I’ve been waiting for his story since meeting him in Moving Maverick. I thought that Hay and Chris were great together and I totally loved their banter especially in the epilogue when Hay was trying to make Chris smile and possibly laugh when he was up for an award nomination. No, wonder Hay was insecure about whether Chris was all in as he was on and off with his childhood sweetheart Lane for about 20 years and given Hay’s track record for being left by his ex’s who got back together with their childhood sweethearts when they showed back up and Lane showed up at Beau’s to talk. His first ex Beau picked Maverick, his second ex Noah picked Luke and his final ex Josh picked Cyrus, so why wouldn’t Chris pick Lane? I’m glad that Chris listened to Hay’s fears and took the time to tell as well as show him how much he loves and cares about him and that when he witnessed him and Lane hugging it was a goodbye hug and that they definitely weren’t right for each each other when they were together but due to their history they’re going to try and be friends. I’d definitely recommend this book, series, universe and author to everyone.
Your all- time crush likes you back! Can it be true?
What a delightful book! I fell in love with the characters and their story. This is a two person book. Although some of the Marian boys are mentioned, this is not about them. This story follows Hayworth as he pursues his dream… interviewing his all- time crush, Coach Christian Lasley. Hay never expects to be so attracted to him. He especially doesn’t expect Christian to want him too. But their attraction is as intense as it is inevitable. Sexy times are assured. Join Hay & Christian as the navigate their way to HEA. Even the sudden appearance of an ex can’t slow their growing love. Ooh, and there’s a newborn colt… so cute! You are gonna love this book!
It isn’t necessary to have read the Made Marian series to enjoy this book. I do recommend reading this wonderful series. The whole crazy Marian clan will pull you in and not let you go.
This book contains adult themes and language, mm sex and is intended for mature readers only.
Yay for Hay! He finally gets his HEA!
For a short story this was packed with a lot of laughter, a few tears, and a wonderful ending. And that epilogue was divine. Yes, I would have loved to see *more* ~ but it really was a great short.
Update 12/17/19: Picked up the Audible during their end of year sale. Michael Dean, as usual, brings Lucy Lennox’s characters to life with a sexy voice and sense of humor.
For less than $5, this is a good deal.
Hearts in my eyes while leaking tears. This novella about Hayworth who heartbreakingly was never anyone’s first choice in this series, became the only choice for Christian. I loved how Christian realized immediately that Hayworth was the one for him. This was a funny and loving romance about two men who deserved a happily ever after.
