From New York Times and USA Today bestselling author Larissa Ione comes a new story in her Demonica Underworld series… As a special class of earthbound guardian angel called Memitim, Hawkyn is charged with protecting those whose lives are woven into the fabric of the future. His success is legendary, so when he’s given a serial killer to watch over, he sees no reason for that to change. But … change. But Hawkyn’s own future is jeopardized after he breaks the rules and rescues a beautiful woman from the killer’s clutches, setting off an explosive, demonic game of cat and mouse that pits brother against brother and that won’t end until someone dies.
Aurora Mercer is the half-wytch lone survivor of a psychopath who gets off on the sadistic torture of his victims. A psychopath whose obsessive psyche won’t let him move on until he kills her. Now she’s marked for death, her fate tied to that of a murderer…and to a sexy angel who makes her blood burn with desire…
Every 1001 Dark Nights novella is a standalone story. For new readers, it’s an introduction to an author’s world. And for fans, it’s a bonus book in the author’s series. We hope you’ll enjoy each one as much as we do.

I enjoyed this so much!!! A great storyline and written well too. I love azagoth and the gang!! Hawkyn and aurora are a great couple and I loved them both. Their chemistry was great their was just the right amount of steam and heat to satisfy. I love the 1001 dark nights novella’s ! Sometimes you just want a short story and I love that although their novellas their wrapped up well!!
Until next time luv’s
Another longish Novella this one is 125 pages, this is Hawkyn and Aurora’s story.
Hawkyn is a Memitim the child of Azagoth and an angelic mother and his Primori/charge on earth is an evil serial killer.
A primori is an important being needed for future events to run there needed course and Memitim are there guardians.
Hawk breaks all the rules when he rescues Aurora from her fate at the hands of this killer.
He is hell-bent on protecting Aurora no matter the rules involved even squaring up to his father.
He also wants changes made for all Memitim as they are treated abysmally by the above powers.
Aurora is mostly human but she is also half wytch a natural wielder of magic but she lives like a human not embracing her heritage.
There was also a side-story going on here with Azagoth and a crisis with his new emerging emotions.
The poor guy is having difficulties processing his new feelings and it is having a knock-on effect with all his relationships including his beloved mate.
This was again a good read that I enjoyed that took some unexpecting turns.
The story arc is really starting to hot up and get interesting.
This really is such a great series and I have enjoyed every story yet.

Larissa Ione has done it again! This Demonica series is superbly entertaining with wit, action, and romance packed in from the beginning to the end. I highly recommend this series.
I have mixed emotions on this book. On one hand I liked Hawkyn and Aurora and I really enjoyed their journey. On the other Azagoth and Liliana have a huge part in this story, and it overshadowed Hawkyn. So I found myself wanting to rush through the book to get back to Azagoth, and that I wasn’t a huge fan of. Overall not a bad read, but it did leave me with more questions than answers because there is an almost cliffhanger.
Larissa always delivers. Her characters are always fresh and original.
The realms she creates of fallen angels, demons, humans, are fated to interact with each other with intense results.
I highly recommend all books by Ms. Ione.
Loved it! Another winner with Hawkyn and Aurora! So many things happening in this story…this world is HUGE and the Demonica Underworld is going through a lot of changes! Poor Azagoth and Liliana but I know that Ms. Ione will work it out for the both of them. Still love Azagoth! He is my favorite character in this world! Lol. So bloodthirsty and evil, you can’t help but love him, right? Lol. Another great read! 4.5 stars*****
I just love this author. The Demonica series is one of my favorite series ever. This author is an auto buy for me. That said, the 1001 Dark Nights novellas in this series are always a fun addition, even if they aren’t a vital addition. I enjoy every word, though I am anxiously awaiting an actual book by this author. But these stories do help tide me over! And as much as I love this series, I honestly don’t know how she can top Rever, so I’m hoping for a new series to enjoy. That said, I’ll read anything this author publishes. And Hawkyn was sexy, fun, and entertaining. I fell in love with Aurora and Hawk, though it lacked fireworks for me.
Love, love, love this series!! When I first got into reading I only read a few authors religiously and Larissa Ione was and still is one. I always wait anxiously for the next book or novella and get giddy when old favorites make an appearance. I enjoy this series and it’s ever expanding world so much. Hawkyn is an wonderful addition and is on par for the standards I expect from Larissa Ione as an author. The way these characters are written just pull me in. I would love to visit in their world, yes I know I’m crazy. I cannot wait for the next book, I need it now! Seriously if you love paranormal romance read this series!
4.5 stars
I think I am getting a little addicted to these Demonica Underworld stories! Ms. Ione is fantastic at detailed, complex world-building, and she does a wonderful job humanizing the supernatural beings who populate that world to make them relatable.
For centuries Hawkyn has focused on being the best at his job so that he can Ascend and garner a spot on the Memitim council in order to make some changes in the lives of his brothers and sisters. Memitim babies are abandoned to cruel conditions in the human world in order to turn them into cold ruthless enforcers of the will of the angels, and that is point number one that he wants to focus on. But first he has to find a way to keep the Primori assigned to him alive despite being a despicable example of humanity in order to succeed atg yet another assignment.
When Hawkyn accidentally interferes with the killer’s abduction of a beautiful woman, he is worried that he altered the Fate timeline of his charge. At the same time, his conscience wars with his sense of duty as he wonders how someone so cruel can possibly be important and influential to the course of human history. Point #2 he wants to change: the disclosure of pertinent info like that to the Memitim protectors. When he sees an opportunity to take Aurora to safety, he seizes it and whisks her away to the Underworld hospital while he tries to figure out his next move.
This story is filled with both family and personal conflict as Hawk struggles with the path he is on and the requirement for blind obedience to a higher authority. Azagoth, his father, is undergoing similar emotional upheaval, and when the Grim Reaper gets upset, bad things are in store! Through it all, Hawk and Aurora are trying to find their footing too. The revelations about Hawk’s world and duties are a bit if a shock to her, and despite the fact he us protecting her, she knows if he is required to sacrifice her to ensure his Primori fulfills his destiny he won’t hesitate to do it… or will he? They seem to have a certain connection, and Hawkyn finds himself questioning the Big Picture more and more often. A particularly cruel punishment inflicted on him by the angels for his recent actions seals the deal for him and he throws caution to the wind.
The fallout of that decision is unexpected at best but I love the way the author brought everything to a resolution. Hawkyn is one of my favorite stories that I have read in the DU world so far!
Hawkyn finds himself in quite the difficult position in the latest novella from Larissa Ione’s Demonica Underworld series; as a Memitim, it is his duty to protect his Primori, but when that person ends up being a serial killer, hell bent on claiming his only victim who got away, Hawkyn is torn between his obligation and the half-wytch female who makes him yearn for his own piece of heaven here on Earth before he earns his way to the pearly gates.
The dynamics that Hawkyn must contend with due to his precarious situation plays out well throughout the story; it’s clear from their initial interaction that Hawkyn and Aurora are not only physically attracted to one another but fill a void that they never knew they had. The progression of their relationship is at the perfect pace given the circumstances of their first meeting and what’s at stake for both of them as they work together to protect Aurora’s life and figure out how Hawkyn can still accomplish his mission without jeopardizing the woman who has come to mean everything to him.
Hawkyn is quite the complex angel; as Azagoth’s son, he’s completely badass and alpha male to his core, but there’s also another side to him…the one that works hard to gain his entry into heaven, not only for himself, but for his family who means everything to him. His feelings for Aurora are definitely a game changer but what that means for his mission as well as his place in heaven still has to be discovered because even though his course has changed, a bit, it’s clear Hawkyn is torn by honor and duty as well as his newly developed feelings for someone who is supposed to be forbidden.
I would say that what builds between Hawkyn and Aurora is a slow burn of attraction. Trust is a huge issue at the beginning and Aurora has every right to question Hawkyn’s true nature as well as his task when it comes to her and the serial killer he’s supposed to protect. There are an immense amount of obstacles and complications that continually threaten to drive Hawkyn and Aurora apart, so what becomes of their attraction as well as Hawkyn’s decisions when it comes to his Primori and the woman he wants to claim are the very things that play out amidst the pages of this novella.
I’m a huge fan of paranormal romance, but I don’t get a lot of opportunity to read it based on a variety of reasons. So, anytime I can delve into a fantastical world, I always enjoy the journey. Ione has built an amazing world for her supernatural characters to roam and experience in the Demonica Underworld, and she’s done it in a way that allows new readers to understand the setting, its inhabitants and the risks that are involved for all of the characters who have very particular skillsets and objectives when it comes to their time on Earth and their time elsewhere. I’ve read several of the books in the series and each time, I’m struck by how easy it is to visualize the world I’m exploring and who these supernatural beings truly are, and there hasn’t been one story that hasn’t made me want to reenter this world every chance I get.
