I loved the romance of this story! Derek is hard working and genuine. Lexi is unassuming and kind. The two of them together just seemed to be magic. I also loved getting a tour of Kauai. The descriptions were vivid and beautiful. It was a wonderful book vacation!
Hawaiian Masquerade is a sweet, heartwarming romance despite the difference in net worth for Lexi and Derek – mostly because he does not know she is wealthy. Derek hates wealthy people. Hawaii is so beautifully described, it is almost a character in this book. Since Lexi hid her wealth, I had to keep reading to see when the train wreck would happen and how they would get passed it! (Actually the book is so good that I have read it twice!) Ms. Christensen skillfully gives this interesting couple a believable HEA!
I enjoyed this story because it is set in Hawaii which is on my bucket list of places to visit. The description of swimming with the turtles just sounds so amazing. The story of Lexi & Derek is also excellent. I enjoy Ms. Christensen’s writing very much.
I started reading this book last night and couldn’t put it down. What a fun twist on the Billionaire genre and an exotic setting, too!
Lexi is wealthy and kind, a combination Derek simply can’t fathom.
Her decision not to tell him about her net worth goes from bad to worse as they grow closer and closer. Derek keeps tripping over his own pride and opinion of wealthy snobs, scaring Lexi in the process.
More than one delightful scene is spent in the lush surroundings of Hawaii.: swimming, hiking, etc.
After a peculiar turn of events, the situation is brought to a head. Lexi and Derek have to either accept who they are and who they’re falling in love with–or not.
I’m pleased to report that I thoroughly enjoyed this story. Clean, clever, and with a plot that wasn’t paper-thin.
****Burke Billionaire Romance books 1-3
1.Hawaiian Masquerade (Burke Billionaire Romance Book 1):{The review says it all.}
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the novel Hawaiian Masquerade (Burke Billionaire Romance Book 1) by Rachelle J. Christensen and this review was given freely.
Easy flowing with picturesque descriptions, social discrimination, some conflict and drama, and clean romances. Moving away from the multi million dollar Chicago based export business she shares with her brother, Lexi Burke moves to Kauai for a more relaxing life but a dramatic first meeting with struggling photographer Derek Mitchell in an art store brings her more than she bargained for.
2.The Billionaire’s Stray Heart (Burke Billionaire Romance Book 2): {A little stiff and too repetitive. I skimmed the last half.}
4 stars
I purchased a copy of the novel The Billionaire’s Stray Heart (Burke Billionaire Romance Book 2) by Rachelle J. Christensen and this review was given freely.
A highly descriptive and emotion packed sequel with a surprise ending but I found it a little repetitive. Lexi’s brother and billionaire exporter Jordan falls in love with dog trainer Maddie and a stray puppy resulting in shorter work hours, a closer relationship with his sister,a rocky romance and a more balanced life.
3.The Refugee’s Billionaire (Burke Billionaire Romance Book 3)
5 stars
I purchased a copy of the novella The Refugee’s Billionaire (Burke Billionaire Romance Book 3)by Rachelle J. Christensen and this review was given freely.
This book ties the first two together in that it includes Lexi and Jordan’s prior assistant Shawn, Burke’s Higher Steps charity and the Atlanta Refugee center which is one of Lexi’s favorite charities. Single Mom and former Cuban refugee Carolina meets Shawn when he visits to determine the Center’s needs. A rocky courtship caused by worry about losing the Center and Shawn’s ability to stay in Atlanta ultimately ends happily.
