From New York Times bestselling author Kate White comes a gripping novel about one woman’s dangerous quest to recover lost memories someone would rather she never find. The key to her missing memories could bring relief—or unlock her worst nightmares.
On a cold, rainy morning, finance journalist Ally Linden arrives soaked to the bone at her Manhattan office, only to find that she’s forgotten her … Linden arrives soaked to the bone at her Manhattan office, only to find that she’s forgotten her keycard. When her boss shows, he’s shocked to see her—because, he explains, she hasn’t worked there in five years.
Ally knows her name, but is having trouble coming up with much beyond that, though after a trip to the psychiatric ER, she begins to piece together important facts: she lives on the Upper West Side; she’s now a freelance journalist; she’s married to a terrific man named Hugh. More memories materialize and yet she still can’t recall anything about the previous two days. Diagnosed as having experienced a dissociative state, she starts to wonder if it may have been triggered by something she saw. Could she have witnessed an accident—or worse—had something happened to her?
Desperate for answers, Ally tries to track where she spent the missing days, but every detail she unearths points to an explanation that’s increasingly ominous, and it’s clear someone wants to prevent her from learning where those forty-eight hours went. In order to uncover the truth, Ally must dig deep into the secrets of her past—and outsmart the person who seems determined to silence her.

Glamorous, shifting, and oh so smart, this is a classic Kate White thriller.
I enjoyed reading this. The premise is pretty unique and it kept me interested to the end.
Ally went to work, but not to the place she currently works.
Ally ended up at the place she had worked five years ago, and then she fainted and is rushed to the hospital.
Those two things were not the worst part. Ally can’t remember anything, her purse is gone, and apparently she had been gone for two days.
After coming home from the hospital, things still didn’t clear up.
Ally couldn’t remember what had triggered her memory loss and wondered if a traumatic event when she was nine may have resurfaced and caused her dissociative episode.
As I read, I could feel something was just not quite right with the characters, Ally’s episode, and her situation. An undercurrent of something sinister seemed to lurk behind the words.
You will be on pins and needles with Ally as you wonder what’s really happening and who’s behind it all. How could everything that’s happening be a coincidence?
Ms. White always brings her readers a story that will keep you tense, totally absorbed, and in this case thinking about your memory and well being.
Are you doing all you can for your well being and your life? 5/5
This book was given to me by the publisher via Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review.
My first book by this author, I won on a Goodreads giveaway. The book is about Allie Linden, who goes to work, only to find she hasn’t worked there in many years. Allie tries with the help of a psychiatrist to find out why she is missing 2 days of her life. The book is full of twists, and mysteries. I enjoyed it, and plan on reading more by this author!!! Thanks @Goodreads and @HarperCollins
This was the kind of book you didn’t want to put down fearing what would happen to the main character when you aren’t there with her. Great read!
I have to admit that I was drawn to the cover of this book since I first started seeing it around social media. I broke down one day and ordered myself a copy. Not only is this a beautiful cover, but the story inside is a good one!
Ally is a financial podcaster and writer who is married to Hugh, an attorney. She discovers herself in the ER one day, not being able to recall at least the past two days. The question is what happened to her? This tale will take you on her quest to find out what happened in those two days in her disassociated state. She even goes so far as to hire a private investigator to help her find out. This tale includes some underlying themes to include a best friend relationship between Ally and Gabby, the marital relationship between Ally and Hugh, along the way Ally encounters a previous love interest Damien, and a whole host of other turns that you won’t be expecting. And, ohmygoodness, the “bad” guy in this story – you won’t be expecting that one! As soon as you think you know who it might be, you’ll be led down another path entirely.
I am sure I will be reading more from Ms. White in the future.
When Ally Linden arrives at work one rainy morning she’s surprised to discover that she’s forgotten her key card. But when her boss arrives, she’s shocked to learn that she hasn’t worked there for five years. Ally soon realizes that she can’t remember the past two days so she sets out to discover what happened during that time.
This was an excellent book that I loved reading. Full of intrigue and suspense, we follow Ally as she pieces together what happened to her and learns more about herself in the process. I was hooked from beginning to end and highly recommend this book.
Unusual technique of having reader review elements with the main character to try and untangle the mystery of why she suffered amnesia and has a bloody handkerchief. Keeps you guessing to the end.
Kate White’s latest novel left me breathlessly anticipating what would happen next and guessing right up until the last page. Ally Linden has lost two days of her life to amnesia and is desperate to find out where she was and what she was doing during those forty eight missing hours. She is married to Hugh, a successful and distant husband who works late and leaves early each day, seeming to have little time for Ally. Ally hires a P.I. to help her discover what she was doing those two days and therein lies the danger for her, apparently. Someone doesn’t really want her to know where she was and why she has forgotten those hours. There is also a sub-plot about her having discovered a murdered toddler one day on her way home from school. This was an unexpected extra twist in a story that was very complicated and extremely satisfying. As a fan of mystery and suspense books, there are few books that can keep me fooled and interested the entire journey through its pages, but this was one such book. I loved it! Fans of mystery/suspense and mild thrillers will enjoy this book for sure and Kate White’s fans will want more from this talented and compelling author.

I have read Kate`s books for years. I think this one is her best one yet. I really loved it and kept my interest. I started reading it about 10:30 pm and fell asleep holding the book about 3 am holding the book, in the morning I started reading it again, I couldn`t put it down. I felt so sorry for Ally. You keep turning pages to find out how she made out and who is keeping the truth from her. She goes threw so much in her quest for the truth.
Imagine showing up to work in an office you haven’t been to for 5 years. Then discovering you’ve ‘missing’ for 2 whole days and you have no memories of the time. Otherwise healthy, who can you trust? Ally Linden finds herself in the office of a former coworker (and lover) who is extremely surprised to see her – she has no purse or phone and appears disheveled. Then she passes out.
Waking up in the hospital, pieces of her life come back, but not anything from the past 2 days. She know she needs help to rebuild her memories, but who can she trust? Her best friend, her husband, her therapist, her brother AND the ex-boyfriend all have differing perspectives on the 2 days and she even hires a private investigator. Along the way, she remembers something from her past that she’s afraid has implications in a cold case murder, but what set off the memories?
This stand-alone psychological thriller is another great book by Kate White. I highly recommend it!
Very good read. It was hard to put this book down. I highly recommend.
A mystery that kept me guessing until the end. Usually, I can figure out the culprits, but not this time.
Kept me intrigued until the end. I enjoyed this author and will try more in the future.
Have You Seen Me? by Kate White is a fast paced mystery with twisty surprise turns. Ally goes in to work on a rainy morning —only to realize she has not been employed there for 5 years. That bit of knowledge causes her to faint and to understand that she is missing the last 48 hours of her memory. I enjoyed the pace and the surprise.
