They say death is the end. I thought so too until I learned it’s just the beginning.A “hauntingly beautiful” paranormal romance from the bestselling author of the Night Shifts Black rocker series.
I’ll be honest, it took me a good two or three chapters to grasp what was happening. Once I did, there was no stopping me. I did not want to put this book down. If you feel that same way, please keep going. I’m so glad I did. Totally worth it.
I was captivated by Alyson’s words, pulled into this story. I couldn’t get enough. I wanted more. I needed answers. Her writing is incredible, her storytelling poetic.
Such a tortured soul, Milo learns and grows so much while stuck in the house on Maple Avenue.
It’s more than a ghost story.
It’s way more than a love story.
It’s an emotional journey.
It’s about forgiveness, letting go of the past, redemption, and selflessness.
Rachel and Milo…they were meant to find each other.
“She may have been sent to love me back to the light. But I was sent to love her into death.”
See? Poetic. Words that make you stop and think. Words that fill you with hope and love and anticipation and all the feels.
Their bonding, their music, their love…so magical and touching and beautiful.
This story made me smile, made me cry, made me believe.
If you love paranormal romances with ghosts, read this book.
If you struggle a bit with the first few chapters, please keep going.
This hauntingly beautiful tale is so worth the read.
p.s. The bonus scene was so cute and perfect!

I don’t typically read paranormal romances where a ghost is the main love interest, and the last one I did read (which I ADORED and re-read it more times than I count…it’s Dark Needs at a Night’s Edge by Kresley Cole if you were wondering) was many, MANY moons ago. So when I saw the cover and read the very short blurb, I found myself intrigued and decided that I needed to check this baby out ~ if for no other reason than I’d have the chance to read a new author and it would/could be something a little different than what I’d been into lately and I gotta say, I’m happy I gave it a go. It did my head in for a minute as I tried to figure things out, but once I did, I was hooked. The feels definitely happened and I really enjoyed how things played out with Milo and his paramour.
Since the blurb is so vague, I am going to follow suit (don’t hate me). As much as I ended up loving the MC’s, to the point that I did get all kinds of teary and sniffly, what really held my interest were the twists and turns in their personal journey and in their romance. Nothing is as it is seems, though I did kind of guess at what his situation was, while hers took pretty much up to the big reveal for it to click. While they have the obstacles to face, I really liked how everything played out and where they were at in the end.
This is my first read by the author and I really enjoyed it. The writing was engaging and the pacing was good and I enjoyed the 1st person POV. This isn’t a scary ghost story by any means, but it is a somewhat dark and gritty one that may make some uncomfortable, but everything was dealt with well and was needed to make the redemption arc a solid one. So, if you’re in the mood for something a little different romance wise but will still give you the feels, then I’d definitely give this one a go!

For me this story has been so many things; enlightening, contentious, disturbing and restorative.
I was that young woman that watched Ghost with Demi Moore and Patrick Swayze over, and over and over again. That love story pressed all my buttons!
Ghost’s spiritual, enduring and eternal love struck such a chord with me that I just knew this story from Alyson Santos was going to be one to strike again that deep connection with my spiritual romantic sensibilities.
And it did, not just by way of the storyline but through Santos’s ability to craft those sentiments with perfection. This author truly has a gift at conveying the heart’s truths.
That said, the physical connection element of this story’s portrayal I couldn’t quite accept.
Though I am very open to paranormal concepts, this time I couldn’t quite reach that acceptance.
But that does not take away from this books value.
It is worth the read, with an open mind and heart and a handing box of tissues!

If you know me, you know that ghosts are kinda my thing. I have had a love of ghosts and ghost stories for a long time, so when I hear Alyson is writing a ghost story, I know I’m going to want to read it. Let me tell you, it isn’t like any other ghost story around. Alyson writes “haunted” (see what I did there) bad boys like no one else, tortured souls, if you will. This is so much more than a love story. It’s a story of forgiveness, realization, compassion and of light. Milo was surrounded by so much darkness and needed a chance at redemption. From the moment i started reading, I was entranced. Even if you don’t like ghosts, you will want this book because it’s beautiful.

Haunted Melody: A Ghost Story by Alyson Santos is a contemporary, paranormal romance told from the first person, single point of view of Milo, the main character. It follows the development of his relationship with Rachel. The story is about the unusual and unlikely romance between a living person and a ghost.
Aside from the obvious issue of one being alive and the other dead, Milo and Rachel both face other obstacles to their relationship. I was very intrigued and curious to find out what would happen. Although this is not among my favorites from this author, it was an interesting story about regrets and redemption. Overall, an enjoyable read.

There is something magical about the way Alyson tells a story. Her latest book A Haunted Melody displays her talents in an intense emotional story. This unique story about the power of redemption will hold your attention from the very beginning. Milo and Rachel’s story has this overwhelming undercurrent of hope. I loved that this story was so different from anything I’ve read lately. There were a few things that left me a bit confused but none of that was enough to take away from how much I enjoyed this book. Grab this one or any one of her books. She’s amazing!

Haunted melody was my first novel by Alison Santos and was unlike anything I’ve ever read before. Its a story about redemption and the power of love. This unique page-turner had me hooked from beginning to end with some twists I was not expecting, mystery and drama included. This novel was beautifully written, imaginative and will stay on your mind long after you’ve finished reading, as it will evoke a range of emotions from you. I don’t have enough words to adequately describe how much I enjoyed this novel. It was a fantastic read and I would highly recommend it.

“…not everything human is inherently evil. Even the ugliest things started as something beautiful.”
I read so many romance books, I thought by now I’ve seen it all. And then comes Haunted Melody just to prove me wrong. I’m still stunned about this story and the way it was told. I’d like to compare it to some movies meeting in this book to describe what it feels like. But that would totally spoil everything. And I really can’t believe this is my first book by Alyson Santos but at the same time I can’t wish for a more beautiful start into her book world.
“Maybe she is here for exactly this moment when I realize that love isn’t taking what you want; it’s letting go of what you shouldn’t have.”
This story is unique and otherworldly. The author’s words created a hauntingly beautiful melody on pages that strums at every single one of your heartbeats from the very first page to the last.
“She searches my gaze, pulling pieces of my soul out of the void and filling it with remnants of hers. Is this love? This connection you can’t explain but can’t go without?”
I don’t know what to tell you about this book other than: PLEASE please please give it a chance and let it surprise you! It’s so totally worth the read and you will enjoy the ride it will take you on. Something so special and unique that is quite refreshing in this inspiring ocean of romance books.
“The song, the moment, the air we’re breathing, needs to exceed ungodly standards because this girl deserves Heaven and Earth.”
Haunted Melody is like a tsunami of emotions that hits you so unexpected, you have no chance to escape. Eyes clued to the pages, heart and mind deeply invested in the characters, ready and prepared to break. I keep coming back to two words that describe this book best for me: HAUNTINGLY BEAUTIFUL
“This is my story. A Haunted Melody so deep and tragic it will live on in this life and the next because that’s what love can do.”

I like to read ghost stories, so when I saw Alyson Santos had a new book coming out: HAUNTED MELODY, I one-clicked myself a copy. I’ve been a fan of Alyson Santos since I read NIGHT SHIFT BLACK. But I was not expecting this unique and haunting story. A different paranormal ghost story. The writing was her best yet. This is a difficult book to review, because you must closely follow as the secrets of the story unfold. I will try to summarize without giving spoilers. There are some dark parts, but you will see the light at the end.
Most of the story takes place at 723 Maple Avenue. It was splendid once, when erected in 1852. Now the forgotten Mansion sits back from prominent Maple Avenue, and is home to lost and forgotten souls. The neglect of this house, makes it the worst in all Olde Town. One resident is Milo Marchesi, who stays in the basement, which is the worst part of the entire house. He is lost, broken, and alone. At twenty-four he has not had a good life. He sits with a drawing pad and pencil, were he once held a guitar and stood on a stage. Now his music is gone. The woman who haunts his basement is called the Grave Lady. Yet, she becomes his angel named Rachel. She also returns his music, and this is their song HAUNTED MELODY:
Mystic girl of mine, in time you’ll see your beauty
You’re the song in my head
The heavenly bells that even the dead hear ringing
Oh singing angel don’t let the doubts invade
The space between us, so void of night when your light shines in
Mystic girl of mine, in time you’ll see your shine
Chosen, frozen in time by the love of one who’s eternal
Refine those angel wings for they’ll bring you flight
To celestial heights
To radiant light
To the arms of a sinner like me

This is the first book I’ve read by Alyson Santos, but certainly won’t be my last! I was lucky enough to win an early copy and I’m so happy I did. I loved it, it pulled me in and intrigued me right from the start.
Haunted Melody is a beautiful, heartwrenching, thought provoking book full of emotion, that builds and grows from the very beginning. The story of Milo, a broken soul, lost in the darkness and pain of guilt, crippled by unrelenting visions of his past, who finds the light and redemption in a way I never expected when I saw it was a romantic, suspense ghost story. From the synopsis I knew I wanted to read it! This beautifully written book certainly puts a wonderful new twist on love and the supernatural, a haunted house and the occupants living there.
I loved it, I definitely recommend especially if you want something a bit different from a book. Beautiful characters that will make you both laugh and cry, gasp and smile, interspersed with the authors obvious huge love of music.

Speechless!! I have NO words to even begin to describe My thoughts and feelings right now about this book by Alyson Santos, phenomenal, excellent, spectacular etc.. Don’t even come close they aren’t good enough. Because this is not an ordinary Romance, or ghost story there is no label for it, because it is Not Ordinary it is EXTRAORDINARY.
Alyson’s writing is Magnificent and has proven to me why I love words and why I love to read, its because of books like this… That take you by surprise and hits parts deep inside of you that you didn’t even know existed.
This book is so unique and beautiful and an incredible tale that will dwell inside of me for a long time, I only wish I was a master of words so I could truly tell you how this book made me feel and just how special it is. I am doing a lousey job.
I cried a waterfall of tears, it stole the air from my lungs, and the words from my mouth to even speak it is Breathtaking and tragically stunning in all its emotional glory.
Haunted Melody is Everything, I felt everything there was to feel, it touches every emotion you could possibly have.. One of the best books I have ever read totally unforgettable and compelling 5 Stars will never be enough. If your looking for a read that will make your head spin, and your heart explode with emotion, that’s dark and light and beautiful and ugly then this is the book you want. I’m so unsure how to rate Haunted Melody. I’m torn between a 3 and a 4 star rating. Honestly, Alyson Santos is usually a 5 star read for me. Her writing is lyrical. It’s poetic. Even with this book. Her story telling is perfection. The blending of her words. The torment of Milo. His pain. I can’t forget the actual lyrics either! This woman, she can write some insanely talented songs. Ones that I wish I could hear with Milo’s gravely and gruff voice. Plus I have to say the entire storyline and twists in the book are fantastic ideas.
While this book had the signature feel of an Alyson Santos book, I was missing a few things. I loved the opening chapter but was a bit confused with what the actual story behind the house had to do with it being the landing zone for the dead. Did I miss a correlation here? I also spent the first 50% confused which really isn’t a bad thing as that happens a ton lately with plot twists… I love a good surprise. Plus I really understand that we weren’t suppose to know what was going on.
More than all that, I think my main issue is I didn’t feel like I really got to know the characters. I felt like the character development was a bit off. Which, I feel horrible saying as I have loved every character from this author. I still can’t think of Jesse without swooning. It also seemed like they were immediately in love. I’m all for some instalove when it’s believable but this seemed too fast. I’m also aware that this is completely different from Miss Santos normal books. I was looking forward to that. I read a huge range of books and often skip from genre to genre because just romance is a bit too much love and happiness all the time (lol). I kind of wish she had stayed on the path of Grave Lady and not gone the love story route.
Anyway, at this point I’m rambling. It’s hard to say you liked a story when you aren’t sure if you did and I’m pretty much in the middle of the road. So much of it was good but it wasn’t a fit for me. I will continue watching for this author. Her writing is truly beautiful and her stories are always unique.
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.

I love a good paranormal romance, but not so much when it comes to ghosts. The only reason that I gave this one a whirl was because it’s by Alyson Santos. I have been a huge fan of hers ever since her Night Shifts Black series, so I decided to take a chance on this one.
Haunted Melody took me on an emotional journey that had me questioning every step. It was a unique, intense and beautiful love story. Milo was a very complex and tortured hero, and my heart absolutely ached for him. Rachel was a kind and beautiful soul, and also Milo’s saving grace. Through her, he was able to find the redemption that he so desperately desired.
I’ve always been really impressed with Alyson’s writing style. It’s absolutely captivating, but Haunted Melody was not really my cup of tea. I found it to be a bit far-fetched at times. Unfortunately, I can’t really explain without giving anything away. You will just have to give it a read and decide for yourself. I am in no way criticizing the author. In fact, I will happily read more of her work in the future. It’s just that some books work for you and others don’t. But please don’t let my review sway you from giving it a go. This story might be exactly what you are looking for.

I love all that Alyson Santos writes and Haunted Melody does not disappoint. A suspenseful paranormal romance that makes you feel. Its a beautiful story of a torn Milo. Watching him find his way while Rachel is there waiting for him to see who he is. It shows love and willingness to be there for those in your life.

I can honestly say this is like nothing I have ever read before. As always Alyson has written something unique that doesn’t fit the limitations of a particular genre, but reaches down deep within you. This is a story of redemption, of change, of acceptance and the power of love. Milo needs to find his light and whilst Rachel is there in the shadows, he needs to be ready to accept what she is willing to give.
I don’t really know what to say to review this book, I just know I felt it long after I finished reading. A beautiful story

Stepped out of my comfort zone and picked a genre I never read. Paranormal romance. I’ve always been intrigued with the paranormal and I love romance so put them together and *BOOM* makes for a very interesting story. TBH this book had me very intrigued with it’s vague blurp so I dived right in and certainly wasn’t disappointed.
Blurp:
They say
death is the end.
I thought so too
until I learned it’s
just the beginning.
Haunted Melody is a fantastic story. Meshing the afterlife with the real world was a creatively done and very well written. I did not expect the twist in this book.

Paranormal is a genre I don’t normally read. This book does have a unique twist compared to stories I’ve read. Milo is such a tortured soul who finds peace in Rachel. This story defiantly brings out the feels and makes you love Milo. Great story Alyson!

I have no idea where to start with this review. This is like no other book I’ve ever read. Yes, it’s a ghost story, and no, I haven’t read any ghost stories that I can remember, but, that isn’t where my struggle with this review lies. I loved this story, it is a true romance, but it did take me a good few chapters to fully embrace the story. Alyson Santos never writes straightforward, and that is one of the things that makes her writing so special. You never know what to expect. Wonderfully written, some lovely characters make appearances, but the story mainly concentrates on the two main characters Rachel and Milo, it does get emotional, I did shed a tear or two. Not a traditional love story, but well worth a read if you’re willing to think outside the box. It definitely had me thinking about life after death. Oh, and the bonus chapter, so funny. I received an advanced copy of this book from the author. This is my honest review.
Wow, wow, wow.
This book was amazing.

3.5 Stars!
An honest review was voluntarily given after being provided an advanced reader copy of the book.
