Holy moly….loved, loved this book! What do you get when you combine revenge, lust, romance, a stalker, and a damaged hero? AN AMAZING, ADDICTIVE READ!
Colton is a successful football player. He has worked hard to overcome his childhood poverty. Now, he finds himself on the cusp of a Super Bowl. However, personal life is bleeding into his professional one, scandals, women, you name it, and he’s probably done it. His cocky, arrogant attitude doesn’t help him. If he isn’t careful, he will lose it all. His agent agrees to help him publish his tell-all book that will satisfy his need for revenge against his brother if he keeps himself out of trouble. He agrees not realizing how this decision will turn his life completely upside down.
Ana has moved to Miami to begin a new life. She fled her home in Tampa and is working for her sister’s boyfriend’s publishing firm. She had some success, but now she is desperate for a big client that could help save her job. She has contacted numerous potential clients, and Colton is one of them. However, she has no idea who he even is. She isn’t a sport’s fan. She is over the moon when he wants her to help him publish his book. Like Colton, she has no clue how her new client will change her world.
Not only are the characters amazing, but the story is as well. Their attraction is electric from the very beginning. Colton knows exactly who Ana is and his connection to her family. She has no idea who he is at first, not even his real name when he comes into the office the first time. He is just some jerk who keeps showing up in her life. Granted, he isn’t always a jerk, but he seems to bring out the worst in her. He also makes her feel things she hasn’t ever felt. Things get complicated when she realizes who he is and who knows what she will do when she realizes his connection to her family.
Colton is a complicated man. He is bent on revenge, and he will be forced to look at himself in the mirror and face the man he has become. He might not like who he sees. Ana seems to break through some of his issues, but he wants to make her his. He sees her as something to be won, and he will have to realize she isn’t one to be conquered.
This is one of those books that just sucks you in. I loved the quotes at the beginning of each chapter. As much as this was a romance, it had lots of twists I certainly didn’t see coming. She blew my mind in some parts of the book. It was also deeper as well. It was a journey for both Ana and Colton, but especially for Colton. Ana taught him love and respect is earned and not won, and she helped him realize family is everything. LOVED this book, and I am so glad I found a new author.
