Fake husband. Real pain in my butt.As soon as I get what I want, I’m gone.I hate Davis so much I could puke. For years I’ve hated him, ever since high school. Now he’s back in my life, and of course he’s successful and gorgeous. That’s Davis, perfect Davis, with his incredible eyes and ripped body. Most women would die to lick sweat from his arms.I’d rather swallow dirt. But he says he needs my help, … arms.
I’d rather swallow dirt.
But he says he needs my help, and he’s offering a ton of money.
All I have to do is one simple, stupid, tiny little thing:
I have to marry him.
Pretend to be his wife.
Simple, right?
Except nothing is simple with Davis.
He’s Canadian, and his enemies want him deported.
So I need to trick immigration into letting him stay.
Sure, totally cool, no big deal, I lie to federal agents all the time.
Except I hate him so much, I can’t think straight.
I spend all night dreaming about his hands on my body.
As soon as his lips touch mine and he whispers, I do, I know we’re screwed.
We’re never getting away with this.
Unless maybe, just maybe, we can turn this fake marriage into something real.
Hating My New Husband is a fun and exciting hate-to-love romance. It has super steamy scenes and some bad language. It’s only recommended for readers 18+. If you like men that can’t get enough of their women, lots of dirty talk, and some really hot scenes, this book is for you!

Not a new storyline, guy hires girl to marry him because immigration is on his back. Though I can’t believe that a rich CEO with a business in the US putting tax dollars into the economy would truly be threatened with deportation because of being Canadian. I mean if all these foreign actors can live in the US indefinitely then why not a billionaire CEO. But for fictional purposes the plot works.
The ICE agent was really just on him because he was a friend of the competitor. But Davis got Carly to marry him and she was perfect for him since they were friends in boarding school. However she has hated him ever since. She loved him in high school and he constantly used her to get girls and finally after being with her best friend he bragged about it to her and left her devastated.
Now she has debts to pay and he is paying her a lot of money to fool immigration. But things heat up between them right away. He likes to take control and she likes to let him. The romance is quite steamy and the story is short but fun.
I have read many of B.B. Hamel’s books and I usually love them but I hated this book. I didn’t like the Hero or Heroine as a matter of fact I didn’t like any of the characters. Davis was an a$$ who used sexy times to manipulate Carly as well as talk down to her. Carly was a nit Witt who allowed him to control her because she couldn’t control her sexual urges. Have some sex respect. Her father was a jerk but he wasn’t wrong she did marry Davis for money and she her parents did support her grown a$$ for years because she didn’t have a job. I’m not opposed to the theme of a fake marriage and I have read several of them but this guy was just annoying.
I loved Davis and Carly story, They new each since school plus i love the banter back and fourth between them, they had chemistry thats of charts. SO ONE-CLICK NOW,A must read, I voluntarily reviewed an advanced copy. Another awesome story BB Hamel.
Hate is probably not a strong enough word to describe what I feel for the “hero” of this book, Davis. He’s a boil on the butt of humanity. A blight on the otherwise lovely world of romance novels. I wanted the book to end with him being publicly flogged and then castratrated so that he couldn’t bred. But since I figured that probably wasn’t how the book ended, I DNFd at 36%. Here’s what I encountered up until that point:
This is a “let’s get married so that I can get my green card” romance. (It’s a role-flipped version of The Proposal, pretty much) Davis is from Canada (which I’m calling bullshit on, because I’m pretty sure jackasses like Davis don’t exist in Canada) and needs a wife to keep from getting deported. He thinks the heroine, Carly, is a good candidate since they knew each other in high school and she’s an actress. That makes sense, but I’m side-eyeing my Kindle pretty hard when instead of going to Carly and talking to her like a grown-up, Davis lures her to his home with a false advertisement for a job. So, right there I’m pissed that 1) Davis is a shady bastard, and 2) Carly shows up to a private residence based on a SUPER shady job listing that gives barely any details. (Are you stupid, Carly? Stranger danger? Ever heard of it?) At this point, I hate Davis and Carly, but I persevered, thinking maybe the story would get better.
(Spoiler alert: I was wrong. So, so wrong.)
From there, Carly, who is strapped for cash, agrees to the arrangement in exchange for 8 million dollars. I can almost understand why she agrees (I mean, that’s A LOT of money), until she gets the contract from Davis and sees that he’s added dumbass stipulations such as her having to cook for him and give him massages and please him in “various other way”. All the stupid clauses he’s added irritate her, but she almost immediately shrugs it off and signs the contract. My bullshit meter is ringing so loud at this point I can barely hear the enraged feminist in my head screaming for mercy. First of all, she’d already told Davis she had no intention of having sex with him, so the fact that she didn’t strike all that crap from the contract was completely idiotic. She has all the power in this arrangement. He’s the one about to be deported, not her. The fact that she did absolutely zero negotiating on her own behalf really pissed me off. And there isn’t a lawyer in the world who would put a vague “and other stuff” clause in a contract.
So, immediately after the wedding, Davis starts making stupid, alphahole “I own you now” comments to Carly and initiates sex, which she’s said she won’t have with him, but of course, being the doormat that she is, she almost immediately buckles.
But while all that was horrible and had me scowling at my Kindle in disgust, it was ultimately this little bit of Davis’s inner thoughts during a sex scene that made me tap out of this one (forgive the graphic nature of this quote):
“She pulls down my boxer briefs and I catch a surprised glint in her eyes when she takes my big cock in her hands. I’m thick and long, bigger than I bet she’s ever seen.”
If you do say so yourself, huh, Davis? What a humble guy.
And then a little further down the page, in case you didn’t get the subtle hint that Davis is hung like a porn star:
“She can barely fit my big cock in her mouth…”
He goes on to shove himself down her throat until she gags a few times and glares up at him, because what romance novel is complete without a dude choking off a woman’s air? (Answer: all of them should be complete without this.)
Well, all I can say is that it’s a good thing you’re well-endowed, Davis, because honestly, I see no other reason why ANY woman would tolerate you for more than a nanosecond. $8 million wouldn’t be enough to keep me from killing Davis in his sleep.
It was then that I deleted this piece of crap off my Kindle. I deleted with extreme prejudice. And I might have taken a moment or two to glare at the crazy numbers of other reviewers who actually ENJOYED the book. (What the hell, guys? Did I read a different book than y’all did?)
Long-story-short, if I believed in book burning, this would be the first one I’d sacrifice.

Lots of witty banter, sexy fun, heart pounding action in this friends to enemies to lovers romance…. Really enjoyed this journey filled with lots of great charters and highly entertaining situations. Great reading experience.
I absolutely love this fake marriage, hate to love romance. It was hot and so much fun. The back and forth banter and the way these two fight. Loved it! I could not put Hating My New Husband down. It was a one night read for me. Great writing, fun story.
Review with spoilers)
Great romance. I loved it.
Davis needs to get married to stay in the country. Carly needs money to pay her college debts. She didn’t want to see him again, not after he broke her heart in highschool. He planned it all so he could see her again. Their marriage couldn’t start any worse.
I loved Carly. She’s strong, passionate. She wants to act. She has tried to dedicate herself to it, but without success. Her relationship with her parents has suffered, because they don’t support her. She needs a job and she accepts Davis’ offer. She hates him, or so she says. She doesn’t seem to have forgotten him.
She agrees to marry Davis, but she makes it clear from the beginning that it will only be a marriage of convenience. It would be easier if her body and, above all, her heart, listened to her. She cannot help but get close to him. He isn’t as she believed all these years. He is much better. He defends her, he believes in her, and nobody does. She trusts him.
At first, I didn’t like Davis. He was a jerk. I loved how he changed during the story, and not just Carly’s perception of him. He was nice, he cares for his employees.
Davis only wanted two things, to stay in the country, and Carly. He wanted to sleep with her, he thought it was just sex, but he couldn’t keep fooling himself. He wanted a lot more. He wanted it all. Never, not even before falling in love with her, did he want to hurt her. He wanted to protect her, not get her into trouble. He would give everything for her.
I loved their romance, how they go from just sex to much more. I liked how they argue at first, but I loved them when they share intimate moments, when they are honest with each other. I loved that they would do anything for the other. They had great chemistry.
I loved Avah and Jeremy.
I recommend it.
I received an ARC from the author, and this is my honest review.
arc review For honest review. Carly has a degree in computer science and acting while looking for a job she gets a interview with bison ,only to find Davis .who she has a love hate relationship from her past. Awesome story and very hot.
This is a quick romance that centers on Davis, a self-made billionaire who went to school with Carly whose aspirations were to be an actress. They were friends in high school; that is until Davis went out with Carly’s best friend. Did he not know Carly had actual feelings for him? That’s what turned Carly’s feeling for Davis from love to hate especially the way he’d go on about Carly’s best friend.
Now years later and they meet again and some things have changed. Davis is still hot as ever but now he has a ton of money and Carly…well she is not an actress but she still hates Davis for how he broke her heart. Now that propositions are made who will come out on top? Will either of them have their heart in tack once this plays out?
