I thought nothing would ever change that, until everything did.

Always would be.
Nothing altered that.

I honestly did not know what to write. My heart feels so many things for this book. I laughed out loud. Felt Jackson’s pain then my heart broke for both of them. Harley so is so much like Creed yet loving and beautifully souled like Mia. This book is everything and more and I can’t wait to read the next. My heart hurts and I need it to be fixed the Only way Monica Robinson can fix it. I would give this a 1000 stars if I could!
Ps. read this book for the letters to each other they are adorably cute and hilarious…
I received a copy of this book from the publsher/author to review for Stephanie’s Book Reports.
I couldn’t remember a time before her…Harly Jameson. Before she owned me. Hated me. Needed me. Before I hated her…Things were simple. We had an understanding. Bully. FIght. Hate. It’s what we did. Mind. Body. Soul. It’s how we loved. I thought nothing would ever change that, until everything did. She was mine. Always had been. Always would be. Nothing altered that. Not how much I hated her. Not how much she hated me. Especially, not how much I hated….that I loved her.
Can I just take a moment and say…..hello amazing cover. I love it and I think it fits the story so well. Now on to the goodness that is Hate You Then. This is the first book in the Love Hurts Duet from M. Robinson. I have been so excited for a while to be able to read this book!!! M Robinson is a story teller that you can tell puts her entire heart and soul into all her stories. With Hated You Then she has taken enemies to lovers romance genre and turned it on it’s head. You might as well go ahead and have plenty of time to sit and read this one. Your not going to want to put it down once you start. Harley and Jackson have hated each other it would seem since birth. They don’t have much choice by to be around each other because of their families. They hate each other and some of the pranks they pulled on each other had me either shaking my head, cracking up, or ready to dial 911 because one was bound to kill the other with a prank. You know how they say their is a thin line between love and hate. These two are going to prove that with this duet. This first part is told from the ages of six to sixteen and in dual points of view. I loved it. I enjoyed gettting the story from the beginning of their hate/hate relatioship. I will go ahead and warn you that your going to finish this duet with your heart in your throat. Thank goodness we don’t have to wait to long for the second book so we cn find out wht happens between Jackson and Harley.
Who are Harley Jameson and Jackson Pearce? How do they know one another? What kind of relationship do they have and at what age? I like Harley’s spunk, or is it gumption, or sass, or any of a million other words that could be used. Oh. My. Gosh!!! Harley is a SCREAM! This story is heart-wrenching. I was bawling not even 1/2 way into the story. It made me think about those I had lost, my maternal grandmother, maternal grandfather, paternal grandmother, and father. All because I never got to truly say ‘goodbye’ to them. I am so mad at Jackson. Talk about a not-so-happy ending, but there is a bit of a cliff hanger. Be prepared to see flashes of Jackson, Journey, Jagger, and Camila from another one of the books written by this author. Still love the dancing!!!!
RECEIVED THIS BOOK AS A GIFT FOR A FAIR/HONEST REVIEW and REVIEWER FOR Bloggin’ With M. Brennan.
Hated You Then is the first book in the Love Hurts Duet, and what a start it was. Harley and Jackson story starts from when they are young kids to teens, and they Hated eachother, and their dialogue and antics had me laughing out loud. It did take me a minute to figure out that Harley was Creed and Mia’s daughter, well that says it all doesn’t it. And if you haven’t read their story go grab it, it’s called Road to Nowhere and Ends Here. Now Jackson is new to me, but you can read Choosing Us and Choosing You, for an introduction to him, and his family. I haven’t read them, and I had no problem falling this story. I liked seeing the Good ol Boys and their families. I really can’t wait to read the ending, to find out how this story is going to play out. M. Robinson is one heck of a storyteller.
5 emotional stars to the queen of angst, M Robinson on her new release, Hated You Then. This book gave me all the amazing feels. M Robinson has such a unique way of writing and the flow of her stories always make you want to keep turning the pages…Hated You Then was exactly that. The beginning had me hooked, the middle had me on the line, and the ending? I sunk. Part one of Jackson and Harley’s story left me with such raw vulnerability. I felt like I was standing in the middle of them, watching the scenes unfold. The emotion behind it all? Yeah, M Robinson wrote a beautiful, gritty, story. I cannot wait to get my hands on the finale of Jackson’s and Harley’s story. It’s an absolute must.
I couldn’t put this enemies to lovers book down! Harley and Jackson walked right into my heart and haven’t let it go since!!!!
Hated You Then is a brilliant blend of enemies to lovers romance, along with the coming of age story of Harley and Jackson. To say these two hated each other is putting it mildly. They were constantly finding ways to torture each other as children and driving their mothers to their wits’ end. As time passes, those feelings somehow shift to something more. They aren’t quite sure how to deal with it, even though their parents seemed to know the affection they had for each other. I guess the saying is true, “There is a fine line between love and hate.”
Both Jackson and Harley are strong, independently-minded characters. That was evident from the very first pages of this book! I laughed so hard at the things they did to one another as children. Both were so precocious as well!
As the years passed, the two somehow always had each other’s backs despite their confusing feelings for one another. I really loved how Robinson wrote this book. It started with a bang in the present, but then, she went back into the past to the beginnings of the relationship between the two. She didn’t rush it. She took her time, allowing her readers to fall in love with the story and the characters. This does end in a cliffhanger, but that’s okay because this story didn’t need to be rushed. It has all the feels…laughter, swoons, and sadness. I’m looking forward to reading the sequel.

Hated You Then is the all new enemies-to-lovers novel by M. Robinson. It is the first book in the Love Hurts Duet. Oh. My. Gosh-I can’t even begin to tell you how much I loved the first part of Harley and Jackson’s story. You know what they say- there’s a fine line between love and hate and they walked that line the entire time. M. Robinson is the queen of angst for a reason. She can have you laughing one minute and then have you crying the next. HYT was soooo good that I could NOT put it down.
All I’m going to say is Jackson and Harley were EVERYTHING! Their journey is full of sadness, hope, hatred, and love. Their chemistry was absolutely incredible. I felt it all the way down to my bones. Harley and Jackson have known each other since they were born-and they’ve hated each other just as long. While I was reading from Jackson’s POV, I literally cried buckets. My heart literally ached. This book laid the foundation for what I am sure is going to be an EPIC and EMOTIONAL love story. I cannot wait for book 2!
OMG M. Robinson hits it out the ball park with this first book in her love hurts duet. I don’t even know where to start with this review because I want to keep it spoiler free as this book is so effing kick arse you need to read it to get the full effect.
Harley and Jackson are something else. One minute they hate each other and are fighting with each other to them becoming something more. I have to say that I absolutely loved every scene in this book. At times I laughed and at times I was all up in my feelings because they would do something and I wouldn’t be expecting it.
This is a must read for everyone! I need the second book like ASAP!
Angst-filled, prank overload, fabulous love-hate drama. Harley and Jackson took me on an intense journey. These two have been at each other from birth essentially. The need to be better than the other is all-consuming to them. Harley isn’t afraid to take Jackson down a peg and boy, has she mastered kicking a boy where it hurts. Jackson loves to dare Harley to do anything which has led to many mishaps along the way. But underneath all of this chaos, we get to experience all the drama happening in Jackson’s life as his family implodes. For all his bravado, he has been dealing with intense loss. The one person that seems to get him during this time is Harley. Is there a chance that these two really love each other under all the hatred? I went through every emotion with these two amazing characters. Jackson’s pain is off-the-charts but it was so wonderful to finally get inside his head to understand all the lashing out he does. Harley is a tough chick, she is Creed’s daughter, and she embraces this attitude. Yes, this ends on a cliff hanger and I’m anxiously awaiting part 2 to see how their crazy story ends. I voluntarily read an ARC of this book and this is my honest review.
Hated You Then was pure angsty goodness that I just could not put down! Harley and Jackson’s story had my emotions soaring from high to low and everywhere in between.
I loved the witty banter and the way these two butted heads from the beginning. I found myself laughing out loud so hard throughout the whole book. My heart then broke as we revisited Jackson’s past and saw everything through his eyes. By that point I had a small pile of tissues scattered around me and my eyesight was a bit blurry but I still refused to put down my Kindle.
Hated You Then was an amazing emotional roller coaster ride that left me desperate to get my hands on book two as soon as possible. A definite one-click book if you love angsty, emotional books that will pull your heart in all different directions and make you love every moment of it.
Right from the surprise beginning, it was one hell of an up and down emotional journey from there on! Jackson and Harley grew up together because their families were close…playing pranks, fighting, and hating each other every step of the way. Until they started to get older, then life got complicated, often blurring the line between hate and a feeling quite different than hate.
Damn, my emotions didn’t know where to go or who to feel for. I waffled between feeling empathy for Jackson and being infuriated with him. My heart broke over and over again for Harley, although she was hardly innocent in the hateful dynamic between the two of them.
Part of this story’s timeline runs parallel to The Pierced Hearts Duet, which gave me a whole new view of both stories. This book has gutted me and my heart definitely needs to be healed, so I’ll just be over here mentally pacing back and forth waiting for Love You Now!
Harley and Jackson were childhood enemies with a hate relationship. As they grow up hate turns into something more. Tragic events will turn Jackson and his family’s lives upside down. I had tears flowing at parts and laughing in other times. I can’t wait for the next book to see how things turn out, that cliffhanger has me needing to read now.
Holy angst-fest! Of course, I would expect no less from M. Robinson.
Hated You Then gives us the story of Harley and Jackson, and their hate-love relationship from age 6. They basically tried to come up with new ways to torture each other throughout the book. I enjoyed their war games and banter, even though at times, it seemed much more mature than what I would expect for their ages. There was a lot of laughing, crying, and wanting to throttle both of them. The writing, as always, was spectacular with a good pace and I finished this one in one sitting. The author knows how to keep you completely invested in a story. Ohhhh, that cliffy hurt though! I can’t wait to get the rest of their story
OMG!!!! I have been so excited to read this and it didn’t disappoint. One of those books that once you pick it up you don’t want to put it down. There are so many emotions in this book but some really funny moments too. Love a book that can make me feel so many different strong emotions. I can’t wait to see what is next for Harley and Jackson!
Enemies to lovers?, oh no, this is just hate and more hate. I loved it!
Two kids that have grown up together, they fight, they argue, they write hate notes to each other. Jackson picks on Harley and of course being the daughter of Creed from the book Road to nowhere, my favorite book of this authors, she obviously and because she’s Creeds daughter, gives it back harder, her daddy taught her well.
The whole plot takes you from Harley and Jackson as young children to the age of 15 and 16, it’s a journey and I feel like I am only just dipping my toe into the ripples of what’s to come.
I’m a huge fan of M Robinson, so to go to the next generation and have more from The good o’l boys is a delight, although they are always in one of M Robinson’s books one way or another, I love the way the Author interlinks in a way so you can sometimes get a glimpse of favorite or familiar characters.
Harley is Creeds daughter and Jackson is the troubled teen with a huge attitude we read about in The Pierced hearts duet, Dr. Pierce is a friend of the MC, attended the MC gatherings and all their families over the years became close including the children, in Harley and Jackson’s case too close to be safe around each other without a fight.
I am so excited for book 2 in this duet, I just felt the whole thing just building and building and I am so looking forward to more from Jackson and Harley. I hope it carries on and doesn’t jump to years later in their lives but I suppose we will have to see.
Hated you then can be read as a standalone, has a young adult feel to it, contains humor, heartfelt moments, has no sex scenes (yet? ) but contains plenty of bully angst and drama.
Another M Robinson book I couldn’t put down and I am eagerly awaiting the conclusion.
People get your hands chalky and your climbing shoes on because M. Robinson leaves us with a cliffhanger that is out of this world. Hated You Then, the first book in the Love Hurts Duet, is a turbulent roller coaster ride that will have you clutching your chest and gasping for breath. This coming of age, enemies to “want to be “lovers’ story is a stand-alone book with many favorite characters from past novels. As always Robinson writes a thrilling gripping tale that just pulls you in and won’t let go, even after you finish reading. November 12th can’t come fast enough for the second book in the series Love You Now. 5-Jackson Blockers for Hated You Then.
Jackson Pierce has been in Harley Jameson’s life since her birth. With the amount of hate between the two they live to torment and torture the other. Some of the pranks go to far and some not far enough. As the kids become teenagers Jackson and Harley find that they just might love each other as much as they hate each other. Harley’s Jackson Blockers don’t always work especially when other girls are around vying for his attention, not that she’s jealous. How can two people who hate each other always be there when the other one needs them? Hated You Then but they Just might Love each other Now.
M. Robinson’s writing was perfection. Her character development was so in-depth. I loved Harley. The chick was seriously hard core. She was strong and knew her self-worth and totally believed in herself. I love me a good, strong heroine especially when she’s so young. Jackson is the quarterback (eventually anyway), the man with a serious attitude. I’m not saying it isn’t understandable but man did he love to mess with Harley. These two were just gasoline and fire!
Robinson does it again! Hate Me Then was a book that I was seriously unable to put down. Having a book told from the POV of kids through young adults made my heart ache in all kinds of ways. Let me just tell you all, this FELT like a young adult story. Back when the feelings are some serious roller coasters and you hate him… you hate her… the constant one-up-man-ship. It wore me out just reading it. Harley’s and Jackson gave my heart a ride… and that cliffy… oh my lantana, that cliffhanger!! This is gonna be a long wait!!!
I received an ARC of this book with the hope that I would leave an Unbiased Opinion. I was not required to leave a review, positive or otherwise, and my opinions are just that… my opinions.
I swear these two, lol. Harley and Jackson have known each other since the womb. Their families are so close that they consider themselves relatives. And Harley and Jackson have always hated each other. There was never a moment that these two weren’t at each other’s throat. They fought so much and pulled so many pranks that their parents were over it. They tried everything in their power to make sure they got along but nothing worked. Until they hit the teenage years and things started changing between them. It wasn’t drastic but little by little Jackson really started noticing Harley and she a little. When you thought that they can finally be civil Jackson screws it all up. I can’t wait to see how in the world he redeems himself because Harley is one tough cookie. Jackson had his work cut out for him and I’m all here for it, lol.
M. Robinson has stunned me into silence. I feel the emotions clogging my throat and pushing my tear ducts..but I cannot..for the sake of god..tell you how I feel. My heart has shut down from the emotional overload. I need time to process. I also need the second and final book like air.
Jackson and Harley’s story was epic, tragic, beautiful and fucked up. This is a duet so I did not expect HEA. I also did not expect to be hit so freaking hard in my chest. This is enemies to lovers, bullies to protectors, out of the world kind of love. There was so much beauty and innocence and purity. And there was also impossible pain and suffering. I was smiling and laughing when they tried to hurt each other with those stupid insults and silly pranks. And M. Robinson wiped that smile right away in the next chapter..the next line..the next moment. Trust me the whiplash was brilliant. God my heart was breaking and I was barely holding myself…and the last line did it for me. And I fall apart into millions of tiny pieces.
Harley is her daddy’s princess. And she is one fearless, smart, fiercely competitive and caring girl. She does not back down from any challenges Jackson throws her way. Be it intentional cruelty, be it his anger, be it his pain, be it his hurt. But she has reached her limit. Because the boy she hated and also loved has crossed the last line. And I am right there with Harley. Jameson is a ball of anger, messed up emotions, denial , fear and guilt. I would not want it to happen to my biggest enemies what he is going through. My heart bleeds for this rude, loving, hurting boy. His auto response is to lash out and push away because feeling hurts. Be it love. Be it hare. But the universe has bound them with love and hate and everything in between. I hope he realises it before it is too late.
This story will hurt like hell. In the most torturing and delicious way. There is no short cut and no respite. This is more than perfect story telling and I am not sure I want to curse M. Robinson or worship her. But since I am craving for the next dose of heartbreaking angst, worship is the way to go. Because books like Hated You Then make me alive. They are the reasons I read. To remember and feel the extraordinary emotions.

Wow. I don’t even know where to start. This book is definitely e-reader throwing worthy (that’s how I know its a good book, in my opinion). I knew that this would be a cliffhanger of an ending as this is a duet… but holy mother of cliffhangers.
Jackson Pierce and Harley Jameson have hated each other since the beginning of time. There families are great friends so they are around each other often and even go to school together. Harley and Jackson are always fighting and getting into trouble, as they got older, they still fought but hid it better.
But don’t they always say that the one who picks on you the most deep down loves you the most? It almost seems that way.
This was great back story on Harley and Jackson’s relationship growing up. I can’t wait to see where we pick up because the ending doesn’t quite reach the destination of the prologue. But I for one, CAN NOT wait until the next book comes out. Definitely pick this one up now.
