From Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling Author M. Robinson, a coming of age, enemies to lovers, contemporary romance filled with angst and all the feels. I couldn’t remember a time before her… Harley Jameson. Before she owned me.Hated Me.Needed me.Before I hated her…
Bully. Fight. Hate. It’s what we did.
Mind. Body. Soul. It’s how we loved.
I thought nothing would ever change that, until everything did.
She was mine.
Always had been.
Always would be.
Nothing altered that.
Not how much I hated her.
Not how much she hated me.
Especially, not how much I hated…
That I LOVED her.

I wanted to love this book in the worst way……..
I was so exited for this book and waited patiently for book two to come out before I started to read. And I was so disappointed. I understand we are reading fiction. And things are not going to be true to life all the time. And we need to use our imagination. And I know that Jackson and Harley grew up differently than most kids (per the first books) but kids their age don’t think, talk or do things like they did especially around 6-8. I did finish the book. Because I was hoping the story would progress along with the characters. But for me it didn’t.
OhMgee. This book didn’t just have me laughing Out Loud, it had me all emotional with tears. Jackson and Harley are just perfect for each other. Their back and forth banter are just epic. I can’t wait to read the next one, which will be after reviewing this one. Thank you M for this amazing and the others as well.
Tissues
This book broke me. I think I cried through over half this book. The end had me yelling NO. There was times I was crying so hard I had to step away. I already cant wait for the next book, I need it like yesterday. I recommend this book to anyone and everyone. But just know Jackson is mine!!!!!!! Everyone needs to meet Jackson… this book is way up there on my top reads of 2019.
Jackson is my new favorite bad boy
This omg was amazing I love m Robinson books I never put them down. Harley and Jackson I loved hated for each other. I love books like that. M Robinson you are amazing I’m so ready for the next book!!!
What a freaking ending!!!! M. Robinson has once again toyed with all of my emotions. I laughed, I cried, and possibly cursed M not only in my head but out loud as well. She definitely knows how to take your heart shred it into a million pieces then as politely as she can she slowly pieces it back together. This is one of the reasons why she is dubbed The Queen of Angst.
Love You Now picks up right where Hated You Then left off. We get to see how both Jackson and Harley grow not only as people, but as two soul mates that have to fight and claw their way to find their true happiness.
In true M fashion we get an OTT alpha in Jackson who is a huge a$$ but also wears his heart on his sleeve where his girls are concerned. Harley is just as sassy and fights for those who she considers family. Their life is far from perfect, and they both need to deal with some hard truths before they can move forward.
I’m telling you if you are looking for a storyline that will keep you captivated from beginning to end please give this duet a try.
This book had me laughing my butt off and then crying like a baby. It was so emotional that it was beautiful. I loved every word of this book. I’ve M. Robinson on my TBR for a while but I’m so glad I finally took the plunge. I want to read it all now lol!
Harley Jameson hates Jackson Pierce and the feeling is mutual. They may have grown up together but that doesn’t mean they have to like one another. They are constantly pranking one another. However, when tradgey strikes Jackson and his family Harley tries to step up and be there for him but in true Jackson fashion he pushes her away, only to regret it later. It isn’t until they become teenagers that they finally realize that what they have been feeling might not have been hate at all.
I have NO HATE with Jackson Pierce!! I am so in love with character that M. Robinson created. Here’s the deal, I really think that you need to read M. Robinson’s Pierced Duet to even follow what is going on with Jackson and Harley (mainly Jackson). Hated You Then gave me so much more insight on the Pierce family (whom I cried for in the Pierced Duet). You understand why Jackson is who he is. You also see the relationship between Jackson and Harley grow from kids until the end of the Pierced Duet…
*Not going to spoil that part for you*
I have to tell you, I LOVED all of the pranks that Harley & Jackson did to each other. I was laughing so hard with this book. And the letters back and forth between these two had me going to. It was brilliant writing!
That said, I was also in tears (which is normal for me with an M. Robinson book). M. Robinson has a way of tugging at your heart with her characters.
Given that this is a duet, I am not going to tell you a single thing about Hated You Then….
#SorryNotSorry
This is a story that you need to experience from the Pierced Duet to the Love Hurts duet. Take a weekend, especially with it snowing, and read these books. And if you are super ambitious you should read her Good Ol’ Boys series as well as Road to Nowhere duet. It will all come full circle for you with her characters. It is one happy family of friends that have each other’s backs.
I also need to add, M. Robinson is one of those rare authors that have the perfect cliffhanger on the end of a chapter. It makes you keep reading the book in one sitting. It also makes the book go quick! Almost too quick. So, quick that you immediately miss the characters and want more!
M. Robinson, congratulation on another amazing book. Your writing is special and I am completely hook for life! I can’t wait to read Love You Now (Love Hurts Duet #2) to see Jackson & Harley’s conclusion. I know that you will put my heart back together again. I have faith!
~ Review by Heidi Pharo
Seriously, this book was everything!! Right from the start I was pulled in. The relationship between Jackson and Harley definitely takes you on a rollercoaster ride! There’s love, hate, heartache, comedy … This book had me cracking up so much at times (the banter between these two was amazing and the author did a fantastic job with that) and grabbing for a tissue the next. My emotions were all over the place and then the ending! Wasn’t sure my heart could take it! OMG!!
This book was brilliantly written! I’m in love with this book and these characters … I have already pre-ordered book 2 and I cannot wait!!!!!!! I highly recommend picking this book up … You won’t regret it!
M. Robinson made me fall in love
This was my firsr book by M. Robinson and I loved it. The emotions, the characters, and the plot line created a perfect storm that had me not wanting to put the book down. I can’t wait for Love You Now.

Author M.Robinson
The Queen of Angst
This book can be read as a stand-alone but the story flows best if read after Choosing Us and Choosing You!
Harley and Jackson were both born fighting each other. Their families were close and they were always around tormenting each other. Years of teasing and fighting has brought them to realization that this could be more than rivalry. Harley is there for Jackson when he is at his worst, even though he’s mean to her. This final hurt maybe something that can not be fixed.
M. Robinson weaves a wonderful story full love and childhood fun and games. Keep a box of tissues handy!
Hated You Then by Monica is my first ever read by this author and I am hundred percent sure, it’s not gonna be my last. Damn this author. No doubt she has rightfully earned her title Angsty Queen.
Two frenemies who bicker and banter back and forth suddenly finds themselves attracted to each other. But because of their assholish behavior, we don’t get much intimacy until later of this story. But once we do, all hell break lose. Harley is a force to reckon with. There’s a thing about a main lead heroine being all badass and sassy. Taking crap from nobody. Not even our dearest jackass hero. Ha! I loved their Gremlin jokes, voila. It seemed he knew nothing but to trouble her. He just couldn’t get enough of our lovely Harley. But instead of admitting the truth, he simply kept up with his ways.
That cliffhanger was seriously the end of my mind. Body. Soul. I wanted nothing more than to creep into the book myself and get on with the story or may be kidnap Robinson and demand her for the further storyline. Oh well, happy violent dreams! I am super excited for Loved You Now, really.
Such a devastatingly humourous storytelling by our angsty queen M. Robinson. Woman, you have my heart forever wrapped around your pinky. Please don’t crush it!
Hated You Then by M. Robinson is the first book in her Love Hurts duet. A story of a young boy and girl whose lives have been intertwined since birth – who have consistently and constantly clashed against each other at almost every turn. With a few respites in the process when tragedy strikes, but the bond that has grown between these two is strong despite their surface animosity. They both hate each other so much but it is such a fine line with them between that hate, that denial and the love you can see between the lines. Ending in a cliffhanger and told in dual POV this book was a little painful and a little sad. Being the first book, we don’t yet get their happily ever after and I felt a tad emotionally drained after reading this. I will definitely be reading book two, Love You Now, due out November 12, 2019. Enjoy!
Loved it just need the next book to find out what happens next great characters love the good old boys and their kids x
“We hated each other. Except after everything we’d gone through, done to each other, been through together. Deep in my heart, my soul, my entire being … I loved him.
When I began this story, I went in thinking it was an enemies to lovers story, which I’m not always a fan of. I was worried that this was going to be one of those bully type stories that make me more upset than happy. This story, for me, was really neither of those.
Harley and Jackson’s story gives the exact feeling of the confusing changes of childhood to adolescence. Through every page turn, I felt that the teasing, friendship, anger, and the depth of feeling shared between the two was the absolute perfect story of how feelings evolve as you get older. There was no point in this story that I felt their reactions weren’t accurate to their ages and I think they both evolved as they should in feeling and maturity.
Harley and Jackson have grown up near each other and share a special bond. Although it was easier for me to relate to Harley’s feelings, it was plain to see that Jackson feels something for her from the beginning. The easiest way to express any feeling as a child is to be mean or aggressive, so the “hatred” between the two proves they feel something that they don’t understand. The glimpses into their hearts comes through those deep, hard to understand moments in life where they are just there for each other. As they get older, it was beautiful to see how their real their confusion was about all the feelings they were feeling.
I think this is a great story of coming of age and exploring the feelings you have for someone close to you, especially through adolescence and some serious life changes. This is my favorite of her series, since the Good Ol’ Boys. Highly recommended and I can’t wait for part two!
A highly emotional read ,this book follows the pierced hearts duet timeline so be ready for more tears!!!
I really enjoyed this book and i absolutely love being in the world of the good ol boys ,
Jackson and harley have had a love to hate relationship since as long as they can remember this book is a constant game of ping pong with the i hate you more, but will they get there acts together and realise how much they mean to each other before its too late or has jackson really turned harleys love to hate??
As always every book by m robinson is amazing and i really cant wait for the continuation of this story ive got a feeling more tears are in the future!!!
Utterly fascinating book! Jackson and Harley have hated each other since they were kids. They were raised together because their parents are close friends. Harper is a daddy’s girl, her daddy belongs to an MC, so her language and attitude fits the environment. She’s spunky and has a potty mouth and is fearless. She gives Jackson hell and kicks him in the groin constantly. It’s a miracle he didn’t grow up stunted in that region!
We are entertained through the book by their antics, pranks, hateful letters and lively verbal fights interspersed with very creative insults. Their hate letters always end like: “with all my hate for you, Jackson” and “not love, Harley”. Their nicknames for each other are cute also: Gremlin (Harley) and Rudolph (Jackson). It was such an hysterically funny trip! There was one incident where they are forced to wear a get-along t-shirt, both stuck inside the shirt together and left outside on their own. Their exasperated mothers made a last ditch effort to make them work it out together. The situation degraded from insults, pushing and jostling each other to rolling in the mud and making the other eat mud. It was priceless!
The book chronicles their life during childhood and adolescent years, and we see how their hate doesn’t abate, just grows with them. At the same time, you can’t help noticing that the feeling is evolving. When Jackson’s life implodes, Harley is the first person there, and the only one Jackson allows near him and accepts consolation from. They’re close but they’re fighting allies. In the midst of his personal despair, Jackson develops a wall around his heart and doesn’t allow feelings for anyone. And yet, he feels a strange possessiveness toward Harley, like she’s only his to torment.
Since this is duet, the book finishes in a cliffhanger and I felt like I need the sequel right now! I grew to love this couple of kids who have such intense feelings and spunk, who hated on each other with so much passion and enthusiasm while at the same time loving each other so hard, although they deny it so strongly. I loved the family feeling in the book, where there is a group of couples with their kids who have such a strong friendship and feel like a big family all around. It was a great read and I can’t wait to see where their life goes.
Gutted!!! I can’t believe how emotional Hated You Then (Love Hurts Duet Book 1) was!!! I had all the feels and the those feels had me wrapped up into a knot! How am I supposed to wait til November for the follow up?!?! HOW??? I’ve never been shoved off a cliff so hard as I was with this book!!! I’m a hot mess and may need to call into work sick tomorrow so I can recover!!! I need to be held!!! Oohhhh Jackson!!! You idiot!!! Harley uggghhhh girl I feel for you!!! Alright I’m gonna go cry maybe drown my sorrows in a fat slice of cake! Wake me up when November comes haha
Oh the feels! M Robinson has done it again! I knew this story was going to blow me away, but I still wasn’t prepared for this. I’m ALL full of emotions! This book was everything. It was super hilarious everything they do to each other. The emotions you’ll feel is beyond explainable. I can’t really express exactly everything I’m feeling, I just know it’s the best worst feeling you’ll experience. It won’t disappoint you, you just need to read it and enjoy the wave of emotions that will come along with it!
Seriously I can’t wait for the next book. I want more of this sweet emotional roller coaster that kills me! I need to see how this story will unfold now!
Jackson and Harley story is a funny story. They hate each other but really their hate is love.
I wanted so badly to read this book and in a way i am glad i did but now the anticipation of waiting for the next one is going to be hell, how this one ended is just going playing on my mind till the next one.
This book has you from the prologue i was like what the hell how can you give us this bit of information but reading the book you think how the hell did it happen.
This was a coming of age love hate relationship everything that i love and M Robisnson told the story perfectly i never wanted to put the book down.
Harley is such a cool character and love how she has her own style and doesn’t care what anyone thinks especially Jackson, thier banter and thier hatred was so funny at times in the book but sometimes it would break my heart. You could see the love but sometimes that hatred took over all that.
Jackson was interesting and considering what he goes through you can see why he was not a nice person at times and you could feel for him expect for the last few pages i just wanted to get into the book and knock him out myself.
Even though this is a standalone i am so glad i read Choosing Us and choosing you books because i feel like i was continuing the journey of the story even though it kind of run on the same timeline.
Again i absolutely loved this story and i know I’ll be hanging for the next book so much, it will be one of most anticipated for this this year.
Loved loved loved this story.
