From Wall Street Journal and USA Today Bestselling Author M. Robinson, a coming of age, enemies to lovers, contemporary romance filled with angst and all the feels. I couldn’t remember a time before her… Harley Jameson. Before she owned me.Hated Me.Needed me.Before I hated her…
Bully. Fight. Hate. It’s what we did.
Mind. Body. Soul. It’s how we loved.
I thought nothing would ever change that, until everything did.
She was mine.
Always had been.
Always would be.
Nothing altered that.
Not how much I hated her.
Not how much she hated me.
Especially, not how much I hated…
That I LOVED her.

”She went from the girl I hated the most, to the one I needed more than anything in this world.”
I can’t believe this is my first book by M. Robinson. But at the same time I’m so glad I started with this one.
I’ve read a lot of enemies to lovers books by now but this one here is something else. The author did good to decide on a duet to the full reading experience.
Because Hated You Then starts way back in the past when Harley and Jackson were 6 years old. And I absolutely loved the fact how M. Robinson pulled it off. I totally felt like being in the head of kids and teenagers again. It was adorable. I had so much fun and when I was not about to cry, I laughed out loud. The banter between Harley and Jackson as Kids is hilarious.
”I hated him. I loved him. I wanted him to be mine.”
Even though you don’t have to read the parent’s books bevore, I wish I had just to get the whole family and friends dynamic right and to be able to dive in deeper in their close relationships.
Harley and Jackson are some awesome characters I quickly fell in love with and I really can’t wait to get to finish their story in Love You Now.
Thank you M. Robinson for with amazing ride you took me on.
”…where there was love, there was hope.”
Hated You Then took me by surprise an held my heart in an iron grip from the first page to the very last. I love everything about it!
Harley and Jackson have known each other their whole lives. They’ve hated each other for as long as they can remember. As they get older, the hate doesn’t lessen but gets stronger. Will they ever get along?
5 holy hell stars!!!!
I have laughed, cried and I mean ugly cried with this book.
The pranks are hilarious between Jackson and Harley. The emotions are real. They go from one extreme to the other.
The cliffhanger of this book has my heart all kinds of messed up right now.
I really really need Love You Now like Now!!!
Be sure to read this book on September 17 when it releases. You Will NOT be sorry
Hated You Then by M. Robinson is a book that I have been dying for since the end of the Pierced Heart Duet. This is Harley and Jackson’s story. They have been featured in previous books but don’t worry, you get a full history about them. Harley and Jackson have grown up together and theirs is this push/pull romance. They fight and hate, growing up but wow! These two sizzle and spark…they make you feel and laugh…they plumb just make you want!! I loved how Harley is sassy in motion and Jackson is jokester yet there is so much more in this come of age romance, enemies to “sort of” lovers. Buckle in and get ready for an emotional powerhouse rollercoaster ride that will knock your socks off!! The chemistry and connection is extremely intense and the passion and romance are fantastic! The cliffhanger ending has me needing book 2 now !!
My Rating: 4.7 stars *******
5 Don’t Love U Stars!!!
If you’ve read The Road to Nowhere Series and/or the Good Ol’ Boys series then you’re in for a real treat with this book because we’re getting the kids with this duet and Jackson and Harley are EVERYTHING I wanted them to be even if I didn’t know it. Ms. Robinson truly is the Queen of Angst and she has delivered BIG TIME with this first book in this duet.
At the beginning of the book we’re meeting Harley Jameson and Jackson Pierce as little kids and they clearly have a love/hate relationship…more hate than love LOL… but they’re always together because of who their parents and extended family is. I was rolling with some of the antics these two got into and let me tell you there’s no end to their one upping each other…even if it results in injury!!
As we move through the book, we see the kids aging, their friends trying to keep the peace, hello Cash and Shiloh and some pretty dire consequences from their antics. One of the things I loved the most was the letters they had to write to each other…settle in for a great laugh when reading these.
However, there are moments in this book that well and truly gutted me. As I’m writing this review I’m tearing up because I wasn’t expecting some of the events in this story. As we see Harley and Jackson getting older and starting to really see each other for who they are, I was really hoping that it would all be okay. But I should’ve known better given the fact that this is a duet, that it’s Monica Robinson writing the book and that there’s so much to their story!
When I turned the last page on the ending, and WHAT AN ENDING, I was slack jawed and so incredibly devastated I didn’t know what to do with myself. Ms. Robinson drew me into this story with the humor of two little kids forced to spend time with each other and then went for full on ANGST! It’s brilliantly and beautifully written. My heart is still aching for Harley and Jackson and I’m just going to rock in my corner until Love You Now is released!

HOOOOLLLYYYY!!! I… I… am a stuttering fool. My mind is blown. How can this book leave me hanging like that? I am a mess. Jackson and Harley have destroyed me. The end of this book is epic… all I want to do is live in its telling. Ugh now I want to cry. Yikes I might need therapy or medication. WTH!
I read the story of Jackson’s dad so I thought I knew what I was getting into with this book. Ugh all can say to myself is “Smug Much?!” I knew NOTHING. This story definitely stands on its own and is more than anything I could have imagine. My heart is permanently broken. Loss as a child is something I understand and this author takes you into Jackson’s heartbreak beautifully.
Harley is a pistol, firecracker, or anything that explodes all balled into one. FEISTY should be her middle name. I LOVE HER. She is her father’s daughter and holds her own against Jackson. OMG plan to experience the cray cray childhoods of these two and the intense battle of wills and words. What l loved is how when experiencing there hate letters you feel the heart and concern they have for each other. I also often laugh hysterically at the stuff they said to each other. SO FUNNY! This might not be making sense but you just have to read it to understand. Eek! SO GOOD!
I need book two… NOW! Buckle up and hang on during this read. This author seems to excel at taking you on a wild ride. It feels like she threw me off a cliff at the end. WHAT?!
DANG IT! I need to go find a #SpoilerRoom for this book. HELP! I need to talk and digest what I just lived through.
Happy Reading Everyone! Good luck. LOL!
YUMMY
Hated You Then is book one in the Love Hurts duet and boy oh boy there have been some love/hate books that the characters hated each other, but I think Monica topped this hatred and love with Harley Jameson and Jackson Pierce. If we have followed M’s books we know who these characters are; if you have not followed the books you not only meet these characters, but we get to see many of the other characters that we all love and miss so seeing them in the stories makes us not miss them so much.
Harley and Jackson have grown up together and have fought from the get-go and stop at nothing to try to win. Their hatred towards each other is real, but so is the love they hide inside of themselves. Harley is a true Jameson and the things that come out of her mouth have you laughing so hard. Jackson is a true Pierce and both of his parents. His actions aren’t always the smartest, but when his softer side comes out it is heartfelt, until he must re-harden his actions to keep up his image.
Oh boy! I love the tension when it comes to interactions with Cash with both Harley and Jackson. Cash just like the women know the real deal and he helps do what McGraw’s do best! The club this trio creates (Cash, Harley and Shiloh) is funny. While Jackson is a pain the butt (and that is putting this mildly) he also needs some much-needed hugs. Just when you think he is smarting up with what transpired at the end, he goes and does what he does best and hurts Harley again, but I will say that last sentence just hurt Jackson so I’ll go with score one for Harley. But…besides us wanting to know what happens between Harley and Jackson we truly want the answer to that sentence. Holy smokes this is a game changer!
So while we wait for the final book in this duet, I guess we are left watching “The Gremlins” or “Rudolph” until we get to see what transpires between Harley and Jackson’s hatred for each other and if Jackson gets to live when the Jameson’s get to him once a bomb dropper is revealed. You better run, Jackson! “Ya feel me, Jackson!” Haha M has left our minds blown once again and that is why she is the Queen of Angst!
That ending!!!! my heart hearts so much for Harley. Jackson is so infuriating, having so much go wrong in his life he pushes the one person away that cares for him the most, Harley. In Hated You Then we get Jackson & Harley’s background from the time they were children to when they are teens. I cannot wait to get part 2 of this duet I have to know how their story ends.
Fair warning this book ends with a cliffhanger.
This is M. Robinson gold! This is her jam right here! I loved this story. It is a contemporary, enemies to lovers, coming of age romance that has so many feels. It is told in a dual POV. This story has lots of laughs but the emotional aspect of it is touching and intense.
This is book #1 in the Love Hurts Duet. It is a spin-off of the Good ‘Ol Boys Series. If you haven’t read the Good ‘Ol Boys Series, what are you waiting for??? It is a phenomenal and emotional series. I am loving the comedic aspect.
The dynamic between Jackson and Harley is funny, unique, intense, & heartbreaking at times. The push and pull between the H and h keeps you laughing and turning the pages to see what antics they are up to next. Jackson is definitely cocky (even at a young age) and alpha (alphahole is more like it. lol). There’s no denying that. Harley is no wilting flower though. She gives Jackson as good as she gets. She smart, sassy, and has such a big personality. I loved her! You will fall in love with them. I also loved the side characters and seeing the characters I love(d) so much from the Good ‘Ol Boys Series!
I will end my review here as I do not want to spoil all of the yummy goodness that is Hated You Then. Just know that this is one of my top reads of 2019 and a must-read ladies!!! I highly recommend reading it! The plot is hilarious and unique and M is famous for her jaw-dropping, mouth gaping cliffhangers! This is no different. Is it November yet??? It needs to hurry up and get here because I am having some serious Harley and Jackson withdrawals!!!
People get your hands chalky and your climbing shoes on because M. Robinson leaves us with a cliffhanger that is out of this world. Hated You Then, the first book in the Love Hurts Duet, is a turbulent roller coaster ride that will have you clutching your chest and gasping for breath. This coming of age, enemies to “want to be “lovers’ story is a stand-alone book with many favorite characters from past novels. As always Robinson writes a thrilling gripping tale that just pulls you in and won’t let go, even after you finish reading. November 12th can’t come fast enough for the second book in the series Love You Now. 5-Jackson Blockers for Hated You Then.
Jackson Pierce has been in Harley Jameson’s life since her birth. With the amount of hate between the two they live to torment and torture the other. Some of the pranks go to far and some not far enough. As the kids become teenagers Jackson and Harley find that they just might love each other as much as they hate each other. Harley’s Jackson Blockers don’t always work especially when other girls are around vying for his attention, not that she’s jealous. How can two people who hate each other always be there when the other one needs them? Hated You Then but they Just might Love each other Now.
I struggled with how to review this story. I’ve not read this author before and went in with no opinion. Overall, the emotion, which will sneak up and smack you like a brick multiple times, is still causing me to wipe my eyes. The ups and downs between Jackson and Harley are very intense. My heart goes out to both of them, especially Jackson with all he’s had to deal with and his own fight against his emotions. You can feel his struggle and the pain it causes. My real issue is that I feel their ages don’t match with how they act and speak. We meet them at 6 years old and grow up with them. They are overly sexualized on their speech, the things they say to each other and even the adults in their life had my jaw dropping. I would expect these things from much older teenagers but not at 10 or 11. This is the first book in a duet and I will be reading book two to see where this explosive hate/hate relationship goes.
I received a copy of this book and am voluntarily leaving an honest review.
This one the best book I have read in a long time !!! Hate you than is base on the good ol kids Harley Jameson & Jackson pierce . This book starts off in the present tense by dropping a bomb of news than goes into the past of Harley (called gremlin by Jackson) and Jackson (called Rudolph by Harley) showing the dynamic of there hate / love relationship as they grow there life’s change Jackson is such butthole sometimes , but I wanted to give him a hug too life unfair sometimes . This book will have you laughing than it changes to wanting to cry than your heart hurting for everyone . Harley and Jackson go back and forth being evil to each other , Harley gives as good she gets . Lots of angst with a bit of rom-com this is a easy 5 stars read no doubt about it . Can’t wait for part 2 in November this my non-spoiler review for mommy’s naughty playground blog
Interesting Story
So most of this story was covered in Aiden and Camila’s book but this was more fleshed out as it’s Jackson’s point of view.
Wow he’s an epic little $hit lol
I can see the love/hate vibe he and Harley have going on.
At the end of this book he shows his true colors as the epic Jacka$$ that he is.
This story is well written and I am intrigued to see how she wraps it up
Omg idk where to begin with this book! It was everything and more!!
This was one hell of an emotional rollercoaster
I laughed, I got teary eyed, nly to end of laughing hysterically again.
I went back and forth between wanting to beat Jackson while my heart freaking bled for him! And that freaking ending has me suffering from not only a book hangover but anxiety cuz I need to know what happends next! Like I so badly need book 2!
Hands down on of my top enemies to lovers romance

: Hated You Then
: Love Hurts Duet #1
: M. Robinson
: 4.5/5
I loved this book it was such an emotional ride. This book nearly killed me all the ugly crying! The only criticism that I have is that I found some of the actions not really appropriate for the ages they were supposed to have. However, once I let go of that and just focused on the story and the words I was blown away. Now let’s get to the good stuff. I love a strong potty mouthed heroine and that is what you absolutely get in this book. I loved the banter between Harley and Jackson. They have this connection in their own weird way. We are following them from when they are children until in their teens and there are so many things that happen. I just can’t say too much because it would spoil it. There is just a lot of angst and drama.. pushing and pulling. And that cliffhanger ending.. I just had to continue with the next book ASAP. If you love a good enemies to lovers with loads of emotions this book is for you!

According to Jackson and Harley’s families they’ve hated each other since birth, but is a hate riding the knife’s edge of love?
There are so many pieces of this book that brought on body shaking laughs, from their “together” shirt, to Harley kneeing Jackson in the genitalia everytime she gets the chance, to the funniest “hate you” notes that started when Harley and Jackson were around eight. But in the background there are the tragic feelings as Jackson and Harley are forced to endure watching as Jackson’s family implodes. I swear I’ve cried buckets of tears today reading as Jackson pushed everyone away time and time again, seeing everyone trying to pull him back into the fold, and hearing Harley’s heartbreak as Jackson becomes more and more of the bully that disappoints everyone around him.
Throughout that though, my love for these two grew with every page, and I spent the majority of the book cheering them on and hoping that each chapter would be where Jackson and Harley found their way to their happily ever after.
M. Robinson has kept my heart on tenterhooks throughout Hated You Then, with sections that made me laugh out loud followed swiftly by entire chapters that made me want to throw my Kindle at the wall. I can’t WAIT to see what happens next with Harley and Jackson in Love You Now!! 5 sweetheart stars for this young lobster couple!!
Harley and Jackson, you know about from the Pierced Hearts Duet. Although it can be read without reading the Pierced Heart Duet – this does fill in some of what happened before then. These two take the bully romance to a whole new level as only M Robinson could.
Harley is the daughter of Creed and Mia, so you see where she gets all her traits from. Jackson is the son of Bailey and Aiden. All the adults want is to have them get alone, stop the way they are hating each other, but Harley and Jackson don’t they only escalate things as they get older.
Yes, there is a cliff hanger, but you know by the way the book is building that it’s going to be epic and all you can do is hope you don’t break your kindle, but it wouldn’t be an M Robinson duet without. Before you say there was no warning – it clearly says duet.
Can’t wait to read the second book and see where it all ends.
Enemies for life !?
Sometimes I get annoyed by duets I feel like they stop right in the middle of the story which is certainly the case in this one.
The majority of this book is about Jackson and harleys childhood, about them knowing each other and hating each other and being rivals and that their families were close all along . There’s lots of love to hate you Dynamics between them .
This book also follows the same time line as the choosing us (aidens story ) but from Jackson’s point of view .
I did like that about this as it gave more depth to his side of the story and a child like view point .
I’m not sure where the rest of the story is going to go though the prologue gives a very good idea – and I’m
Kean to find out
I cried. I laughed. I loved!
